Medieval music in Music ·
Personally, I’ve always been a proponent of using file-sharing sites like Kazaa to dig up ancient tracks; there is actually quite a massive collection of really old music available there if you know where to look...
Have you given it a shot yet?
Frida Kahlo in Movies ·
I haven't actually sat down to watch the movie yet.
To be honest, once I heard they were featuring Salma, I kind of lost interest...
Plus, I’ve been feeling pretty under the weather lately, so I probably wouldn't have even been allowed into the theater anyway...
A few friends went, though, and they kept telling me how great it was...
Regardless... I guess I'll just keep waiting for my own "Borgia" moment to arrive sometime in the distant future, hopefully with Christina Ricci playing Lucretia... she really is the most beautiful woman in the world.
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
goldenwolf4 said:I have these horrible pains too. For the first two days, I’m vomiting like crazy—I can't stand, I can't sit, I can't even lie down... it's truly maddening!

In that case, try having some tea; I usually go with chamomile. Take two pills (I personally take Naproxen or Advil), put on some soft music (maybe some Andrea Bocelli), light a few candles, and just relax in a warm bath. Gently massage your abdomen as well, and you should start feeling better, trust me...😉 😉

Aha... and is the bleeding just going to stop on its own???

Honestly, I’m writhing in pain on the first day.
My periods have been painful ever since I lost my virginity.
At first, I used to go to the ER, but last month I switched to suppositories because I couldn't handle taking pills anymore—the pain was so intense I would just throw them back up...
Nicole Baker, hang in there!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention...
I have a friend who is a Reiki healer.
You might all want to judge me for this, but when he places his palms just above my hips, the pain vanishes... completely...
The only thing is, the poor guy has to keep his hands held there constantly...
Bioenergy helps too, specifically when someone places their hand on your stomach...
At least those things work for me...
I don't know if it actually "works" or if it's just all in my head, but regardless—it feels good...
I can accept the idea of pleasure being an end goal...
I consider myself a hedonist, but... a true hedonist...
And a real hedonist doesn't just indulge in everything blindly.
The thing is, hedonism only truly qualifies as such if your actions don't result in suffering.
Since you're experienced in seeking enjoyment, you know exactly what will harm you and what will actually benefit you.
So, you enjoy things with a sense of reason: doing what you love and what brings you joy, but ensuring it isn't destructive at the same time.
Take drugs, for example.
A true hedonist would approach them rationally—perhaps once every six months or even once a year. Before that, they would research the substance thoroughly and experiment with different ways of experiencing it. They wouldn't touch anything that creates immediate dependency, like heroin. For them, the substance serves as a tool to explore higher states of consciousness or for pure recreation, rather than acting as an escape from reality or a path toward self-destruction. It’s about avoiding those negative consequences.
Inexperienced, irrational hedonists chase pleasure regardless of the fallout. They take a drug, they like it, and then they say, "Hey, this feels great, let's do it again. And again. And again..." They fall into addiction, and suddenly, the fun stops being fun... It becomes desperate. If someone tells me that's what hedonism is, then I'm not a hedonist.
Generally speaking, I don't use any drugs. Not yet. I plan to start only after I turn 18, with the specific intention of exploring my own consciousness and understanding how I function... I have no intention of using anything on a frequent basis, nor do I intend to try cocaine or heroin... I'm mostly interested in hallucinogens.
But even so, having pleasure as the sole and ultimate goal isn't quite right for me. Fun alone doesn't feel like a high enough purpose. To me, that feels somewhat... animalistic, and as humans, we should probably strive for something more meaningful than that...
8 Mile in Movies ·
The movie was honestly a mess. I just couldn't wrap my head around the point of it all. Even though I have a deep appreciation for any kind of autobiographical filmmaking—including this one—I still just didn't get it...
