I don't see why anyone would go Mac, especially if you're planning on using Windows anyway.
I actually managed to talk my boss into doing the same thing.🎉
About a third of my screen is just black now... there's been this thin line running right down the middle for ages. Now the colors are starting to fade too—letters and icons look all washed out. The IT guy at our office says the monitor is basically toast. It's a 17"
Yeah, exactly that one. They told me it isn't even worth paying for repairs. I just need a new machine for work...nothing crazy, just Microsoft Office and some accounting software...the usual stuff. I'm looking for something with that specific system, look, and feel. My budget is pretty tight, so I'm looking for the cheapest option possible...either brand new or used. It has to be a Mac.🙂

The price tag might give you a bit of a shock, but hey, isn't it worth it to not have a soaked laptop?
Of course, I've got another question. I'm looking through this right now and need to find a few more things. My laptop is an HP CQ61, and I really need to figure out which specific model suffix I have—is it the -100, -200, -300, or -400? I just can't seem to find where that info is listed here:
So, is it one of these: » Compaq CQ61-100 notebook PC series » Compaq CQ61-200 notebook PC series » Compaq CQ61-300 notebook PC series » Compaq CQ61-400 notebook PC series

For the driver for Realtek, check here.

I actually wanted to come back and say thanks because I didn't end up needing help after all. Got it working.😉 🙂

For an IDE drive: I found this external drive online. Looks like what I need.
You've helped me out so much here that I feel like I owe you a huge favor. Seriously, you're probably one of the best people in the entire country.🙂
I'm planning on pulling the hard drive out of my old laptop. Does anyone have a recommendation for what I should call the thing you put it in so I can use it as an external drive? An HDD enclosure or something?🙂
