Religion classes in school - Megathread in Students & Teens ·
MajaMama, did you pull some strings with the church, or is this just your utopian belief that things will actually turn out the way they should 😬?
Religion classes in school - Megathread in Students & Teens ·
N/A, I don't have an answer for any of your questions, though I honestly can't wrap my head around why. Why can't a kid just go to church for religious studies and receive their sacraments 🙂? Doesn't the whole thing sound a bit off to everyone above? Jeez 😠🙂 🙂 I'm dropping out of this thread because this whole situation is just getting on my nerves

I agree, Jesse Cook4... My only takeaway is that if a kid wants to receive their sacraments (Communion and Confirmation), they basically have to take religious ed in school, plus church classes during the actual year they receive them. If I’m lucky and I’ve got this wrong, maybe I can just pull her out of the school program next year. 😬

I’ve been dwelling on religious education in schools for days now, mostly because of my daughter’s teacher. Honestly, I need to get this off my chest: I find the whole idea of religion being part of the school curriculum pretty repulsive. My husband and I are believers, though we aren't exactly practicing 😬, if you know what I mean. But that's beside the point. Once my daughter started school, she was automatically enrolled in this religious class which, despite being labeled an elective, isn't an elective at all. It's baked right into the daily schedule. Kids who don't take it just wander the halls for 45 minutes, and even that feels discriminatory to me. But let's move past that. If the teacher were a kind, pleasant person teaching spiritual values, I wouldn't care. Instead, this person is incredibly discriminatory, constantly belittling and mocking kids for being overweight, struggling academically, or even just for sneezing. My daughter doesn't fall into any of those categories, yet this class is the one thing she dreads most. She actually has nightmares 😲 because of the comments this teacher hurls at them during class. And it's not just her; I've heard from several kids in different grades, and I know how kids can exaggerate—though I usually tend to side with the teachers. Our godparents' kid has been doing so much better ever since a different religious instructor took over their class.
Truthfully, if we didn't have such a massive crowd of protesters, I probably wouldn't even think about challenging religion in schools. I guess that makes me a hypocrite, but this situation has really made me question why religion belongs in elementary education at all. Calling it an elective is a joke; it's not an elective no matter what they claim. Religion belongs in a church!
Anyway, I feel a bit better now 😬
Chase Online in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Nah, I asked their support if there was any way to do it just with an m-token instead of a USB one, and they said no. Not an option for business accounts.
Chase Online in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I honestly can't wrap my head around how JP Morgan Chase handles business banking. Why on earth is there no other way to log in besides using that crappy USB stick? 😠 Other banks have actual decent options—like a physical token, a mobile app, or some other clever tech they could've come up with—so I can just go to the site and log in directly without all this extra hardware. With this setup, if I take that useless USB to a different computer, it’s a total nightmare. Dealing with compatibility issues, messing with Java settings, restarting the damn PC... it's just too much. 🙂
I don't really have anything intelligent to contribute here, so I'm just dumping my frustrations. 🙂 🤦😵

Anyone have a recommendation for a private adult pulmonologist in Washington, D.C.? I think I might have asthma.

So you think you aren't going to promote it?! 🙂
Of course I'm waiting for the full name of the cream 😬
Dry / Chapped Lips in Health ·
Like someone else already mentioned, I’ve dealt with chronically dry lips my entire life. I swear, I’ve tried everything under the sun—from the cheapest drugstore stuff to high-end luxury brands—and it’s all just a temporary fix. It's driving me crazy. After two or three days, the skin starts peeling off in actual chunks. I drink plenty of water, but I've realized most lip balms actually make things worse. The only ones that seem to help even slightly are calendula from Alverde, Carmex sticks, or just plain honey.
The worst part, though, is that all these balms are just greasy. They add oil, but I think my lips actually need hydration. I need moisture/water, not just a heavy oily layer.
Out of everything I've used, the BEST thing is a DIY balm I make with honey, lanolin, wax, shea butter, and hemp oil. I was actually thinking about it during my commute this morning because my lips look noticeably worse now that I've run out.

edit: My current DIY balm has a little moisture thanks to the honey, but I'm planning to try making a thick cream that actually incorporates both water and an oil phase.
Printer issues? in Computer Peripherals ·
True, I didn't read the whole thing, just skimmed two pages back, but I haven't heard anyone suggest walking into a store with their printer in hand 🤔
Besides, it doesn't even matter much since he prints maybe ten pages before giving up. So what?
Printer issues? in Computer Peripherals ·
I'm about ready to throw this damn printer and its cartridges out the window.🙂🙂
I have an HP Envy and dealing with these third-party inks is driving me absolutely insane.
Basically, I buy Orink ink and tried some MMC stuff, but it’s hit or miss. Sometimes it works for maybe ten pages, then suddenly it starts screaming that it doesn't recognize a color—and it isn't even always the one I just swapped in. So I end up swapping them all out and just tossing the ink. It's ridiculous.
What can I actually do to make sure it accepts the ink? I'm tired of throwing money down the drain. Original ink is roughly $27 per color, which feels way too high, but honestly, it might be cheaper than what I'm wasting right now.
The ink models are
Model Number🙂. And just so you know, whenever I swap colors, I disconnect the printer from my computer and disable the Wi-Fi, thinking maybe it was pulling some stupid updates from the internet. Clearly, that wasn't the issue.

I don’t have any employees yet, but I’ll be hiring pretty soon. My godmother even gave me her credit card to get things moving.

So, when I'm sending over the access authorization for the electronic health portal, everything makes sense except for that part about digital signing via email. What does that actually mean in practice?

Also, if anyone happens to know where the link for the electronic pension portal access form is, please help a girl out. Either I'm blind or just plain clumsy. There are a million instructions and explanations on their site about what their form looks like, but where the heck is the actual link?????????????

Ugh, don't even get me started on bookkeeping. I could write novels about this stuff. 🙂😠
The boss is stubborn as hell and hates change, but our bookkeeper? Seriously, you guys, if you look her up on Wikipedia, she’d be listed under "incompetent."
The woman doesn't even have internet, an email address, or a fax machine!
Now we’re looking at a potential audit because she failed to file the IRS forms... all thanks to her and the fact that we were too naive to double-check her work. 🙂
I finally managed to talk my employer into switching accounting firms, but having an online system for registering employees would be such a lifesaver. Our line of work means sometimes we need someone behind the wheel on a Saturday night, and since there's a 24-hour filing window, we end up having to register people on Sundays or holidays too...
Is it possible to fill out an authorization form and give power of attorney to the new firm so they handle the filings, while still leaving the option for us to do it ourselves when needed? Or does the authorization only allow one entity to handle onboarding and offboarding?
So, the taxpayer name is just the business name.
I'm still a bit confused about the username field, though. 🤔 Would that be the business owner? Or what?

thanks, Kyle Rogers8...
so that access form you have to fill out and bring to the office just to get into the online portal has a few sections:
1. employers
2. users
3. date and location
4. save
5. print
-Under "employers," it lets you enter one and then add more, so I guess maybe that's where you put the registered employees?
-Then under "users," you're supposed to type in a name and hit search, but I honestly have no clue who I'm actually looking for here. If anyone else has dealt with this form, maybe you know what I'm talking about. You can click through those sections on the link above, which might make it slightly clearer.

Anyway, thanks a million for the help.

Could use a little 🙈 help here. I’m pretty lost on this whole Social Security thing. We run a small business with 7 employees, so does that mean we have to start filing all the enrollments and terminations electronically starting April 1st?
The part I don't get is,

1) Can I just handle these filings myself, or is that something the accounting firm needs to take over?
2) If I am doing the enrollments/terminations personally, how do I fill out the access form , specifically

A) What goes under "taxpayers"—do I list every single employee?
B) What do I put for "users"—what kind of name searcher is that supposed to be?

Sorry for being so clueless. Believe me, I’ve read the Social Security Administration website a bunch of times already, but I’m still totally confused.
Charles Schwab financial advice in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
This thread died out a long time ago and people have said just about everything, but I still haven't found any real advice or suggestions here. I'm looking for a solid financial advisor—someone who isn't just a mouthpiece for a specific bank or insurance company. I want someone who charges a fair fee for their expertise but actually gives honest guidance on how to manage my money so I can get the most out of it.
