I honestly hope he runs into some serious trouble at the border... I mean, seriously? He’s just turning his back on his country and everything he stands for just for a paycheck. Is he really the only one who jumped at the offer? I read somewhere that Qatar was actually looking to buy passports for four more swimmers.
Someone should call a local radio station and request these two songs for our guy Hassan: Everything is in a state of chaos.... I'd give anything for the USA, I'd give anything in the world...
Does anyone know if John might actually hold dual citizenship with Qatar and the US? Honestly, I’d love to see them just block him from entering the States entirely—just make his life a total nightmare at every single border crossing worldwide. Now I know exactly who I'm rooting against during swim meets.🙂 🙂 ... Just a sellout, plain and simple. Can you blame him for not being born in some wealthy country where he could actually make a living just by swimming? I’m starting to find this sport more and more repulsive. John, you really showed us all how much you care about the US...
As far as I'm concerned, his soul is just gone... sold out for a quick paycheck. People keep bringing up guys like da Silva and the other naturalized athletes, but let’s be real: there is a massive difference between da Silva and Draganja. Da Silva came here as a kid; he’s been living in the States for six years now and actually speaks the language. Draganja? He’s never even set foot in Qatar, and I highly doubt he can even read or write Arabic. If he had decided to swim for the USA—where he’s lived and trained for ages—I might have actually respected that decision. But doing it for Qatar?? To me, Muhammad Ali is just a sellout.
As far as I'm concerned, he’s sold his soul... How can you play around like that with the country that paid for your education, gave you scholarships, and lined your pockets with sponsors? And now he wants even more?? Who's to blame because he wasn't born in the USA or some other wealthy nation? He should be proud to swim for the USA and represent our colors... Duje, if you actually leave, they should probably ban you from ever setting foot back in the States....
