That was Vlado Božić’s take, I believe, during an interview with ProFightStore
I'm talking about boxing, obviously
Actually managed to dig up the article.
"You guys opened the new 'Božić Gym' at the Spansko elementary school in Oranice—how’s everything going?
Great. We’re focusing mostly on recreational fighters, though we’ve got plenty of kids with real potential. We stick exclusively to boxing because the Božić name is basically synonymous with the sport here in America, so we don't want to muddy the waters with other martial arts."
Definitely gonna head down there and check it out; sounds pretty perfect.
Besides, I need something for light cardio and to tone up these muscles that have been on vacation way too long. 🙂
Thanks!
I've been digging through all these different address lists for ages trying to find what I need, and the closest hit I could scrape up was somewhere near Blackwater.
Just throwing this out there—maybe someone here trains right in that neck of the woods, or knows a guy who does?
Does that Profightstore directory actually list EVERY single club, or is it just a random assortment?
Thanks!
Hey there.
Let me make this quick: I'm looking for a kickboxing, Muay Thai, boxing, or whatever else similar club near Spanish, Texas. Anyone know of anything decent around here?

But listen, any skill bound by strict rules isn't nearly as effective as something designed for a real street fight... like Krav Maga or maybe Jeet Kune Do. There is a massive difference between what happens inside a ring and what happens outside of it. When you make your choice, keep that distinction in mind...
Thanks for the input. Any idea where I can actually find some Krav Maga training in the metro area?
So. I’ve been having this little back-and-forth with myself lately, and I think I finally landed on a conclusion. I want to pick up some kind of sport or martial art, but here’s the catch: I’m looking at this strictly through the lens of self-defense. You know, something that actually works when things go south—fast, brutal, and efficient enough to handle one guy or a whole group of them. I’m not really interested in all that deep, flowery philosophy stuff. Just give me the moves that work. And honestly? It would be a nice bonus if the training was a total grind physically. I need something that’s going to tear me apart a bit just to build up the body and keep my health in check.
Alright, you experts out there, got any suggestions that fit the bill? 🙂 Thanks a bunch!
So, like, is that kenjutsu training in the middle of the city actually legit? Can you even get a real session in over there?
I gotta be honest, Kendo just doesn't do anything for me.
Got a question for you guys—does Kenjutsu actually involve any throwing techniques, disarming moves, or anything like that, besides just swinging the sword?
Hey there.
Got a few questions and some dilemmas spinning around in my head, so I figured I’d toss them out here. I’ve been scrolling through the forum for a bit, but honestly, there’s so much going on that I might end up asking something someone else already covered a dozen times. Sorry in advance if I’m repeating myself.
So, I’m 19 and decided it’s time to get back into some kind of martial art. I did Taekwondo for about five years, but then I spent the last four doing absolutely nothing. I’m really drawn to Eastern styles—specifically stuff tied to Japanese culture. Calling it a "sport" isn't quite right, though, because I couldn't care less about the competitive side of things. It's purely about the skill for me.
Physicality is key. I need the training to be intense enough to actually build some decent conditioning. I gave Ki-Aikido a shot recently, but it just didn't hit that level of physical demand I was looking for.
Now I’ve got Kenjutsu and Ninjutsu stuck in my mind. The problem is, I have zero clue what a typical session for either one actually looks like. What do you guys think? I'm based out of Chicago...
Thanks!
Hey everyone
Got a question for you guys.
I’m pushing 19 now and honestly, I’m kicking myself for not hitting up music school when I actually had the chance. My parents just don't have any connection to music, so I guess it never even crossed their minds that I might want to go down that path. To be fair, I haven't exactly been proactive about it either, but I think I've finally hit a wall. It's about guitar—I've been messing around with it for maybe two years, but I really want to level up my game. Does some kind of "adult" program exist out there? Or if not, is there a way to dive into music and actually learn stuff I care about without, you know, losing a fortune?
Thanks a ton
peace
p.s. - and yeah, sorry for digging this thread up from the depths of the archives, but I just stumbled onto it while Googling stuff.🙂
