James Lopez8 said:Well, I’ve been doing some searching through the local Walmart, Kiki, IKEA, Home Depot, PepsiCo, Kroger, and even Buffalo Wild Wings over here in my area, but I haven't had any luck finding any green ribbons anywhere. The tiny bit I did manage to spot at Target was priced at about 8-$$3.00 per piece, which seems a bit steep. I haven't seen them anywhere in Canada either, mostly because I wasn't quite sure where to start looking—maybe in one of those massive supermarkets or perhaps at a local farmers' market? I eventually stumbled upon some near a vendor selling curtains and home decor, but I couldn't find any bows at all. It's a bit frustrating, so I might just try heading over to Canada again tomorrow.😁

you can find them in Canada at the fairgrounds... there are stalls specifically for weddings. I went recently to grab some for myself and they have every color imaginable (green too!), and prices are only like 2 or 2.50 dollars... the bows are identical... just some booths charge 2 and others 2.50. I ended up hitting the 2.50 booth on my first try, but I can't remember which hall it was... anyway, just walk around a bit and you'll definitely find them.. they usually come in packs of 10

James Lopez8 said:Dear fellow crafters,

Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up some pre-made bows without too much hassle? I spent the entire day hunting for them and came up empty-handed. I'm also looking for some tulle. I checked out a shop over in Canada and it’s quite affordable... $5.25 (dimensions about 1m x 2.20m), but the catch is that I'd have to cut it into strips roughly 30cm wide by 2.20m long, and honestly, I really don't feel up to all that tedious cutting. So, does anyone know where I might find tulle on a roll that's already close to that 30cm width (ideally in green and white), along with some ready-to-go bows?
Best regards,

I actually picked up my pre-made bows while I was passing through the Canada corridor, $0.27/piece ($2.75-10pcs)

Anyone know someone who rents out chillers for weddings around Warsaw or Columbus? And what’s the damage gonna be like on price?

Could you please DM me your number? I want to sit down and chat with my mom about this; after all, she’s the real expert when it comes to baking. 😉She’s actually heading over to NYU soon, so it would be easy for her to drop by, especially since I’m stuck working here in New York City.
Thanks a million!

I’ll be looking forward to hearing how everything turns out after September 4th! 🙂 One quick question though: does the bakery provide the health department documentation that restaurants are requiring for desserts these days? And where exactly was this wedding held?

Yeah, they have that paperwork up there. It lists everything—business name, owner info, all that stuff, plus the ingredients list for the cookies... basically what you'd find in a deli nowadays. They pack them all up pretty nicely in boxes, too. You can actually work something out with her to have them deliver everything straight to the venue if you want.

My relatives are in Lucy's area

where are yours and when?

Also, just a heads up, I had to book my order with her way in advance because she gets slammed. So, if you need the owner's number, just holler and I'll send it over.

Henry Ortiz18 said:Greetings! I was wondering if any of the ladies here have tried the pastries from that small town, USA? I can’t quite recall the owner's name, but the bakery is called Catherine. Any thoughts or reviews?
Tnx

I had them at my neighbor's wedding once and they were honestly amazing.
I'm actually getting married on September 4th this year, so I'm planning on getting all the desserts and the wedding cake from them. Honestly, you can't go wrong, and the price is pretty decent too (around $17/lb).. Best bet is just to call the owner and ask if you can grab one of each kind to do a little tasting before you commit. That's what I did.

Hannah Bailey6 said:Does anyone have any insight into the pricing at Admiral in SF? Also, what’s the availability looking like for 2011...

Can't really speak for 2011.

Last year, my fiancé and I went by to check out prices for this year (we’ve got a wedding set for April 9th) and apparently, everything just depends on the guest count. If I remember right, if you're pulling in more than 200 people, the price drops to $83 per head, but if you're under 200, it's definitely steeper—not sure about the exact number though.

Back in 2009, the per-chair rate was $73 for groups over 200 (I know because some buddies of ours had their wedding there and that's what they shelled out, though they had to pay extra for the cakes, desserts, and flowers separately)

For us, the whole thing was just way too pricey, so we passed on it... honestly, who knows what the rates will be at that new Admiral hall they're still building...

Anyway, we ended up booking the Lucius venue in Unknown instead, and it's actually pretty great... if you want to see how it looks, check out the photos here: www.zuki.com

The per-chair cost is $63 (covers basically everything except the flowers), but you can mix and match stuff. Like, if you don't want their desserts (they get them from Bosi) then it's $3.25 less per chair, or if you skip the appetizers, it's even lower, like $3.25 less, etc...

i actually looked through their stuff to see who might be a good fit for me, but apparently, they're totally tapped out right now...

Does anyone know where I can track down some silver-white butterflies for a bouquet?

So, figured I’d chime in too... still pretty new here, just catching up on everyone's posts. Looks like a lot of you are going the favor bottle route, with all those little thank-you gifts and stuff... my guy and I decided to do that too. For the tables, we're using those old-school Orangina bottles—my mother-in-law tracked them down for us—and we've got this artist from Memphis coming by to etch them for $3.25. Also, for the favors, I'm making these heart-shaped bottles myself (picked them up at a local shop), and I'm putting our names and the date on one side and doing some gold embroidery on the other.

The reception is gonna be at Lucy's place in Indianapolis. I actually grabbed my dress at Nicholas's boutique in VC, and honestly? So stoked with how it turned out. The staff there were great, too. Especially since I'm a bit on the curvier side, I was low-key terrified to even start looking for a dress, but the selection ended up being killer.

We're grabbing the sweets from that bakery, Katarina's, over in Ivankov.

The band for the hall is gonna be Flash from near St. Louis, and then for the after-party at the house, we've got "Bachelor Soul"—those guys are from Nuštar and they're awesome.

The wedding itself is at St. Philip and Jacob's church in Memphis. I was wondering if any of you ladies have gotten married there? And also, is it possible to have someone sing during the ceremony? I'm really hoping to have an Ave Maria played.

I already booked my hair with my buddy Igor at the Royal salon in Memphis, where I'll be getting my makeup done, too.

One quick question though... does anyone have hair style recommendations? Since I'm a bit more full-figured and don't have much of a jawline...

Anyway... thanks

Hey everyone,

I haven't been on this forum in forever, so I'm still figuring out how everything works here...

My partner and I are getting married on September 4th, 2010.

We've already booked the Grand Ballroom in Pittsburgh (www.zuki.hr), a killer band from Indianapolis, and we've got a florist lined up from a nearby town. Now we're just stuck looking for a photographer and a videographer...

Does anyone have any solid recommendations for someone in the area?

So, I’ve got in-laws heading to Lucy for a wedding next September.
The venue is honestly stunning...
They actually set up the room based on your RSVP count, so even if it’s light, the place always looks packed... we’re looking at maybe 350 people since my family is scattered all over the country and not everyone can make the trip...

Has anyone here actually hired that Blitz Band from Indianapolis, or maybe seen them play a wedding before?

We caught them during their rehearsal and they were awesome, so we pulled the trigger and booked them, but I have no clue how they actually vibe at a live wedding...

Drew Gonzalez75 said:The sizes are standard. Honestly, my brain tells me to just go one size up. I ended up buying two pairs of jeans—I usually wear a 38, but I grabbed a 34 instead.

Does anyone know where the closest actual store is? And I don't mean the local ones near me—the people at my neighborhood branch in Chicago basically told me they don't carry the full stock because they only get small shipments, especially for larger sizes. I’m looking for a spot that actually has the same variety you see on their website and won't leave me hanging on sizes.

darkbadger88 said:Wait, what do you mean "online"?

I mean, yeah, you can order stuff online, but then I realized later they don't even ship to America. It’s only certain countries where they actually deliver, like Italy or Germany or whatever...

So, I was wondering if any of you guys have ever ordered anything from Dorothy Perkins online, or maybe you’ve picked stuff up from them in person at a mall somewhere? I’m having a bit of a crisis with sizing... basically, I’m stuck hovering right between two different sizes, so I gotta know: are their actual measurements (like, in inches) actually legit compared to what they list on the website?

I’ve got my eye on this absolutely gorgeous dress, but now I’m just overthinking everything... honestly, it’s not even a huge deal if it shows up a little big—I can always make it work or take it in—but if it comes in too small? Yeah, that’s where we hit a major snag...
