Can anyone help me make sense of these blood results? My platelet count is high, and my doctor recommended seeing a hematologist—which honestly has me a bit on edge:

Platelets 541 ( 158-424 )
WBC 13 ( 3.4-9.7 )
Baso% 5 ( 0-1 )

Biochemistry
GGT 7 ( 9-35 )

Everything else falls within the normal range.
I’m not sure if there’s any connection to the daily headaches I've been dealing with for the last two and a half weeks—I’ve been taking Advil once a day (not every single day, but pretty frequently since the headaches started) —or perhaps the two tooth infections I'm currently getting treated for. I figured the headaches were just tied to the dental issues.

Thanks

It’s a disaster... it seems like doctors don't have a clue when it comes to double vision issues.
My mom has been through countless clinics and specialists, yet no one can pin down the actual cause.
She's just forced to live with it—this thing appeared out of nowhere. The only fix so far is wearing glasses with some kind of
specialized lenses... what a joke. I really hope things turn out more successfully
with your son's situation.

Good luck.
Benjamin Nelson6 said:I read somewhere that Yasmin is the only pill that doesn't cause water retention or bloating... I guess, is that actually true, or are there others out there?

Yaz...
Look, when I first started taking them, I spent way too much time scouring various forums. I saw all kinds of horror stories from women who definitely gained weight on Yaz—so, yeah. The packaging can claim whatever it wants about efficacy, but if your body decides to have its own "policy," it’s going to follow that instead of what’s printed on the box.

It's the same deal with the libido claims. They say Yaz shouldn't kill your sex drive because the hormone dose is lower, yet I still ran into plenty of women complaining about that exact issue while on Yaz...

Everything just depends on your specific biology.
I did a little digging online and stumbled upon this:

I could use some advice—I just got my blood and urine work back today. Everything looks perfectly fine and within range, except for my CDC levels. Usually, it should be 0-5, but mine came back at 14.7. Should I be freaking out??

Elevated:
An increase in CDC concentrations occurs during acute or chronic bacterial infections, autoimmune diseases, immune complex disorders, tissue necrosis, malignant conditions, myocardial infarction, or trauma. These elevations typically show up within 24-48 hours.
Since an elevated CDC level is non-specific, the results can't be interpreted without a full medical history—and even then, only when compared to previous values. A persistently high CDC level suggests that a current treatment isn't working effectively.
Normal CDC levels don't necessarily rule out localized mild inflammation or certain chronic conditions like SLE or ulcerative colitis.

Bottom line—call your doctor. They’re the only ones who can actually tell you what's going on.

I’m convinced an MRI would have flagged a brain tumor if one actually existed—but instead, they just found some benign growth. Their plan? Leave it alone and run another scan in a year to check for changes. They also insisted there’s zero connection to her vision issues.
She saw a neurologist first, who then sent her to an ophthalmologist. The eye specialists claimed this was strictly a neurological issue. So, after the MRI, she went to a neurosurgeon, and he gave her the exact same verdict I just mentioned.

Basically... she’s had her visual field tested, her vision checked by an oculist, and even went in for a dilated exam. She passed every single test. Now that nobody can pin down a diagnosis, she’s heading back to Medicol to try seeing a neurologist again.

It's a total mess.🙄

Go see Dr. Demarin at the Sister of Mercy hospital. She's a top-tier neurologist. Honestly, if things aren't right, you need answers immediately. You'll likely have to push the doctors—they won't take much initiative on their own unless you make them. That’s just how the system works, for whatever reason.
I don't know where the initial exam took place, but you have to keep digging and seeking answers from different sources until you get one.
There are also private clinics like Medicol or Sunce. Yeah, it's expensive, but at least they actually take the issue seriously.

Everything was done at Holy Spirit... it was an MRI. I misspoke earlier when I said CT—I'm not exactly an expert here, so I tend to lump them together.
She dealt with extremely high blood pressure for a while; she got some medication and it stabilized. Blood pressure isn't an issue now, but her vision is still bothering her. After the MRI, the neurosurgeon claimed the tumor wasn't related to her vision, called it benign, and told her to come back in a year to check for changes.

That's just awful.
She's going to Medicol this Monday and Tuesday using a referral—apparently, they accept them. She's seeing a neurologist there with all her results to see what they say, but frankly, I doubt it'll change much. :/

She had an MRI of her head—they just told her there's some kind of tumor that supposedly has nothing to do with her vision issues 🙄
Honestly, these doctors are a joke; the fact that not a single one of them could actually provide a diagnosis is just hard to swallow

I’m looking for some advice here—and apologies upfront if this topic has been covered before...

Basically, my mom has been struggling with a persistent issue for about a month or two now. She’s seeing double—but only when she closes one eye; otherwise, her vision seems normal.
She’s gone through the ringer with tests—everything from visual field exams to seeing neurologists, ophthalmologists, and getting head CT scans...
By total coincidence, they found a tumor on the CT scan. However, the doctors insisted it has absolutely nothing to do with her vision. They aren't planning to touch it; they just told her to come back in a year for a follow-up CT to see if anything has changed.
She’s had blood work done and went through a whole battery of tests I can't even list, but nobody seems able to give us a straight answer or pinpoint the cause.

She’s pretty desperate at this point. It’s hard for her to function normally because of the double vision, though she isn't experiencing any other symptoms—aside from headaches, which she's dealt with her whole life, usually triggered by stress.

If anyone knows a specialist who could actually diagnose what's causing this, or if you have any idea what might trigger this kind of thing, please help..

Thanks in advance.

Clearly loves being the center of attention—probably the type who tries to sit on multiple fences at once...👎

Or maybe they're just social and you're misreading the signs entirely. Honestly, who knows with women...😬
