The start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1) in War in Ukraine ·
Mark Clark6 said:Given that Russia is a nuclear power with a psychopath holding the detonator, I honestly can't decide which outcome warrants more dread: a defeat for Putin or a victory in Ukraine. Just imagine the fallout if that madman actually loses in Ukraine... the idiot is going to ruin his own people regardless of the result.

but they support Putin and believe everything he says
I was just watching some woman's statement at a rally in Washington, D.C. ... I seriously can't believe it. Who's the crazy one here?

Nobody sane actually calls for or justifies war,
so I assume we are all unified in our condemnation of Russia.
But wars are just the final stage of an escalated conflict.
The questions we are raising here—at least some of them—revolve around how the
genesis of this conflict unfolded and which factors fueled the escalation.
Who, what, when, where, how, why... these are legitimate questions.

Theoretically, sure, but the bottom line is what the Ukrainians actually want.

At any rate... Russia is heading into reverse in the long run.
But honestly, what can you even expect from people who care more about feeling powerful than actually being free? They just project that insecurity onto the rest of the world.
They’ve always had this deep-seated, latent need to feel "great," regardless of how much suffering they cause others in the process.
That’s why this isn't just about Ukraine.

And from where I’m sitting, it doesn't feel like we have any real say in anything significant as a member state.
Whenever we do manage to decide something, it usually has to be scrubbed or rewritten just to align with the European Union's legal framework anyway.
Once we fully integrate into the eurozone, our ability to make independent decisions is going to shrink even further.
It's a pretty grim thought—imagine being in a position where you can't even spend your own money without getting permission first.

Well, that’s fine then. We were the last ones to join the European Union... poisoned by that outdated communist mindset.
I suppose we shouldn't try to force our "brilliance" on them, right?

The KGB guy has been running things for 22 years now
He’s out there waving nuclear weapons around like it's nothing
So what, are the rest of the world's powers just going to keep flooding Russia with more
? Honestly, it would be better if they just took him out themselves

I honestly can't see any realistic way for Russia to win this fight
but then again, I don't see
or maybe we just won't exist at all
that’s the fundamental question... good versus evil

That's if you ignore literature, science, and art.☕

I find myself watching Nureyev clips all the time—I actually have them recorded.
But you know what? 🤔 Even that whole idea of communism being a step toward a better life... I kind of miss it. And those Russian inventions...

Russia is lagging behind here. Even if they are on the side of justice, the world simply doesn't trust them...

Exactly. You really ought to fly over to Russia yourself and see what a little slice of paradise looks like... in every sense of the word.

-Why do we find ourselves relying almost exclusively on Western innovations every single day, from our TVs and computers to the internet, our cars, phones, clothes, and even the food we eat?
-Why are we constantly watching Western movies?
-Why is it that we listen to Western music?
-Why do we conduct our lives using Western currency?
-Why are we drawn to Western sports?
-Why is it that we strive to work and innovate just like Americans do?

Is it because everything that is truly progressive and high-quality originates from the West, and if it actually came from Russia or, say, China, would anyone even care?

Well, the Russians invented the Kalashnikov back in '47, didn't they?
And the USSR gave us the Rubik's Cube.
You can't claim monopoly forever.
Besides, Americans started Apple and Facebook in a garage.
The Germans and Japanese make the best cars... why else would they bother if it wasn't for Russian oil? Or would Putin tell you that?

It looks like Zelenskyy might have actually played Putin
Now you’ve got Russia complaining that he’s staying quiet during the negotiations regarding the demilitarization of Ukraine
Word on the street is that the Americans whispered in his ear to just hold steady
Is the Russian bully actually shaking because he's acting like a total coward?

Sam Alvarez4 said:Not quite. We were watching that Russian security council meeting instead... seeing the pure fear in their eyes when Putin calls them out to take a stand.

If that isn't enough to convince any sane person of who Putin really is and how Russians actually think... then I don't know what is.
So now people wonder why everyone flocks to Europe and absolutely nobody wants to set foot in Russia... unless you're one of those overpaid pro athletes treated like gods everywhere they go.

Nicholas Watson said:we should probably find a way to mark all Russians while they're in the US so we can spot them instantly, then just make sure they aren't allowed to eat at restaurants or shop in stores

Look, we aren't fascists or mobsters.
We Americans don't even have our own organized mafia like they do in Mexico or Russia; our people just end up getting sucked into those kinds of organizations instead.

The way the world is treating Russia right now... they're being kicked out of everything everywhere
Even the local symphony orchestra refused to perform works by any Russian composers
Everyone can slap sanctions on them for as long as they want, and once this war finally ends
They’ll be facing massive demands for reparations to help rebuild Ukraine

That said, I am expecting some real breakthroughs regarding myself and how I interact with others... trying to figure out why I attract certain types of people or why my close relationships and family dynamics always seem to go south. Real deep issues here.

To me, all this therapy stuff feels slow, hazy, and way too experimental. 🕺 What actually works for me are real bioenergetic treatments—not just any kind, but the deep karmic ones.

While everyone else seemed to surrender to the process and reap the benefits of these workshops, I walked away with nothing.

Honestly, those of you claiming to reap all these rewards? You’re single-handedly destroying my faith in humanity. It’s just a bunch of people forced into an artificial group who shouldn't be sharing anything with one another—at most, maybe some space on a subway car.

Between the actual cost and the commitment required to show up in person, it's a significant investment.

The most notorious group on Rib is the one run by actual psychiatrists! Dr. Staleker... high speed, high intensity, but plenty of people end up hitting rock bottom there, so watch yourself.

Things have honestly gone downhill lately. What even is this thread supposed to be? Just some endless loop of "tee-hee, ha-ha" where you and user_name try to low-key pitch yourselves for the moderator role? It's ridiculous.

rustydrifter10, I really hope you're actually reading all this. Personally, I think the person who started this thread is exactly the kind of person we need—someone who actually understands how user_name handled "policy" and knows when to use a heavy hand.

Actually, user_name would be perfect for the job. She has the right traits: patience, curiosity, tactical thinking—everything needed. user_name was a steady hand, but more importantly, he was an expert when it came to the forum; he actually knew what he was talking about based on real experience! This isn't some amateur playing dress-up or running a local appliance repair shop...

Noah Fowler3 said:That’s the main point. Honestly, the current moderator hasn't done much regarding this issue, which is exactly why I started this thread.

rustydrifter10, leave the GIFs alone for now and focus on the actual issues. All this GIF business feels like people are just trying to look busy while the real problems get swept under the rug. That's not good. The forum chat room doesn't even need moderation because users police themselves, and Google can't see that PDF anyway.

Also, find another moderator. This forum isn't some tiny little file that one beginner can manage on their own.

This is freaking crucial... honestly, you’re better off just sending your entire plan and program directly to rustydrifter10 in full detail—no deviations. Tell them exactly what you'll be doing here, where the daycare is, everything.
