Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·

I guess it’s just some fantasy concept where Dinamo signed a deal with Puma. At first glance, it doesn't look half bad, though I think that simple Puma model looks way better...

I have a feeling Athletic Bilbao is going to end up with an eyesore of a kit, much like what happened to Sunderland back in 2011-12. That design on the back is just brutal...

From what I've gathered watching this Copa America 2011, it seems like everyone except the Japanese man got a brand new kit. Personally, I think it's a solid move—they don't even need to change them once they're out there. Looking at the designs, you can tell how much influence Mexico and a few other 2011 models had on the direction they took...

Honestly, Nike would be better off just bringing back some classic looks, like when PSV wore those checkered away kits after being gone from Eindhoven for two years, rather than making this kind of mess out of the clubs' identities.

It’s true, though... when you’re walking through town wearing something legit, people actually turn their heads more than they do for those flashy, superficial types. You can practically hear them thinking, "Damn, did you see that? I wonder if he’s got a name on his back," or just "That's a real jersey... I wonder which player's kit that is." 😁

They’re calling it the new Monster Junction

Man, I just stumbled upon some old photos of the Atletico Madrid kit from the 11-12 season. They had those red sleeves and that half-short look... honestly, when Nike tries to force their specific "aesthetic" on everyone, it makes watching the games a total chore. And then you've got Adidas jumping on the bandwagon too... what a joke.

Honestly, I don’t really care much for these "fantasy" kits... they aren't even real, so what's there to get worked up about? It’s nice that someone used their imagination, sure, but maybe we should just move them to a dedicated sub-forum for concept art. Between all the official releases and these random designs, you can't tell where one ends and the other begins anymore. Besides, most of these are just cool ideas that, let's be honest, 99.9999% of them will never actually see the light of day.

We'd probably have a much better time if we just stuck to discussing the actual, real-life jerseys.🙂

Sure, it could be a knockoff, but honestly, why wouldn't you believe it? Nike has been churning out absolutely hideous kits for the last two or three years. Aside from what they did for US Soccer—I can't think of anyone else they've actually made a decent jersey for, maybe a few teams like Arsenal FC or Paris Saint-Germain—but everyone else with those signature stripes has just completely botched the design. It’s ugly, if you ask me. Apparently, these weird little lines are supposed to show up on most of the striped jerseys this year... It makes me think someone else at Nike handles the national team designs, because they seem to have way fewer misses there...

Does anyone actually have a lead on this?

I honestly don't get why people are hating on the new France kit. In my opinion, it’s easily the best thing they've put out in the last twelve years. I mean, sure, the 1998 look was iconic—even if it wasn't exactly my style—but that was just the vibe back then, you know? World Cup winners and all that. But this new one? It’s just perfect simplicity. You’ve got the collar, the Nike logo, the federation crest, and that's it. It's the kind of shirt you can actually wear out in the city without looking like a total fanatic...

The goalkeeper kit is also pretty wild. After a match, Hugo Lloris could basically just fix his hair, throw on some jeans, and head straight out for a night in Paris. 😉:

So, if that's the new FC Barcelona jersey, does anyone actually want to buy it?

Just being sarcastic, obviously...

I’ve gotta agree with you there. New Zealand absolutely crushed it with their kit—easily the best jersey on the planet:

Hey, shoot me a DM so we can figure something out 😉

The jersey looks even better in person...

@barhane honestly, you killed it with this one. This jersey is absolutely top-tier... what year was this from again?

Just got my hands on the new Rangers home kit. It feels more like a polo shirt than anything else:

Personally, I’m still leaning toward the old version—the font on the jersey and everything else just feels right. I guess I’ve always had a bit of a grudge against those collars they keep putting on jerseys lately... Anyway, I actually saw this black one in person recently. Some tourist was probably wearing it while visiting us this year, and man, seeing it live changes things. It doesn't just look "okay," it looks incredible. It honestly feels more like a high-end lifestyle tee than a standard jersey. Getting your hands on those San Francisco kits is a nightmare, though, unless you hit up the official flagship store...

Not much has really changed since that 2009-10 era. Nike always nails the kit designs:

I’m leaning more toward the 09-10 look since it ditches the collar, though I can't say this year's isn't decent either. 👍

..but those third kits from last season and this one... man... just way too bright...

Anyone else here actually dealt with this before? I’m trying to figure out where the best spot is to go get this changed...
I’ll probably give it another shot sometime this week. I mean, forty bucks is still a lot of money...
Nicholas Turner said:I personally swapped a few hundred Deutsche Marks at the Federal Reserve in Indianapolis earlier this year. There were some pretty confused looks all around—but they eventually converted them into dollars for me (and, naturally, tacked on a 10% commission just because they could). 🙂

Thanks... I don't really get why they won't take it from me now...😲
From what I gather, a currency like the German Mark hasn't been in circulation for about eight and a half years now. Specifically since 2001. But, as far as I know, those old bills weren't just tossed in the trash; they were archived at the Federal Reserve in New York City, just in case things ever get weird with the US Dollar or if the whole system collapses and we need to bring the German Mark back into play. There’s about a billion USD worth of Marks that never actually made it "back" to Germany, which is why you still hear stories about German tourists going on shopping sprees where they somehow settle up using Marks...

I happened to stumble upon a 100 German Mark bill recently, and I'm trying to figure out if I can swap it for US Dollars here in America. I tried asking at JP Morgan Chase—who were doing this over the summer—and also checked with Bank of America in Indianapolis. They both told me it's technically possible and there might be a way to redeem them, just not through their branches right now. I also have a feeling these things used to be exchanged with a commission fee of maybe 5% or 10% of the value. I wanted to ask you all for some help... does anyone know where I can actually get this done?

Here's a little bit of trivia for you:

*The German Mark was replaced as an independent currency on January 1, 1999, when the US Dollar was introduced. Until December 31, 2001, at 11:59:59 PM, German Mark banknotes and coins were still legal tender. From that day forward, at the Federal Reserve and its other branches, the Mark can be exchanged for US Dollars free of charge, with no time limit. Also, a huge number of credit institutions and shops continued accepting the Mark until February 28, 2002. Some stores even still run sales where they offer to exchange Marks during a purchase. Even after the transition, the Mark stays in people's minds and is still used for mental math today. A study from September 2004 showed that 66% of citizens in the Federal Republic of Germany still convert US Dollars back into Marks in their heads. For men, that number was 54%, while for women, it was 74%. Among the younger generation, only 41% do it, whereas for those over 50, it jumps to 71%. It makes sense, really, because the exchange rate of 1 US Dollar = 1.95583 Marks makes it incredibly easy to just round it to 1 US Dollar = 2 Marks. * quote from Wikipedia
