Anal itching relief? in Health ·
So, I finally bit the bullet and decided I’m heading to the proctologist tomorrow to deal with this constant itching once and for all. Since I'm feeling a bit on edge about it, can anyone walk me through what actually happens during the exam? Is it just a quick visual check, or am I looking at something more painful involving them shoving instruments up there and whatnot? 🙂

Finally got it sorted out!

Does anyone happen to know where that company in the red building is located? I’ve got some paperwork or gear I need to go pick up there tomorrow, so I was wondering if someone could point me toward the right street or give me a heads-up on how to get there without driving in circles.😉
I couldn't find the right thread for this, so I’m asking the admin to please move this post or just point me in the right direction.
I was wondering if someone could walk me through how to actually request a prescription online from my primary care doctor—I know how to book an appointment at the hospital or schedule follow-ups, but I can't seem to find the option to just type out what I need so the pharmacy can have it ready by the next day. Any help would be appreciated.😉
How do I go about fixing this? What’s your take—do you think that’s what's causing the bottom margin to act up?
Look, I’m just going to hit print and see what happens. Honestly, I don't think they're actually going to scrutinize every single millimeter this time, though I'm a bit skeptical given that my thesis was sent back for the third year in a row just because of one solitary sentence. But hey, fingers crossed it turns out fine.

Huge thanks to Nicholas King for handling the printing and double-checking everything; I really appreciate the explanations and all the advice you gave me. 😉
So, I just tried printing this page where the text goes all the way down to the very bottom edge, and I’ve gone through the settings to make sure everything is set up right—I've got my margins at 3 inches for the top, left, and bottom, and then 2 inches on the right side. Everything seems perfectly fine except for this one issue at the bottom here:

If you have a second, could you try running this through your printer to see if it looks normal on your end? For me, it's just that bottom margin acting up, even though, like I mentioned before, the text on this specific page is pushing right up against the limit at the bottom.
Now I’m back to square one again, and honestly, I feel like I’m about to lose my mind!
Everything seems fine everywhere else, but the bottom margin is just completely off—it’s supposed to be exactly 3 cm, but mine is sitting at around 4. It’s absolutely ridiculous, just totally nonsensical...
Look, Nicholas King, I went ahead and double-checked everything, tried printing from Adobe Acrobat too, and it’s the exact same headache—honestly, the spacing looks even more messed up than before.

So, I finally got some paper in there, and now those side guides are clamping down on the page, which seems to be doing the trick for now; I actually pulled out a ruler to measure it all. The only thing that's still tripping me up is this bottom margin requirement. It says it needs to be 3 cm, but I can't figure out if that's supposed to be measured from the very edge of the text block to the edge of the sheet, or if it's measured from the page number to the edge of the sheet. Because, if we're talking about the distance from the page number, then everything lines up fine, but if it's supposed to be from the bottom of the actual text, then I'm looking at a massive 3.5 cm gap, which makes zero sense.
The top, left, and right margins seem to be behaving themselves now, though.
Nicholas King said:What’s the deal when you try printing from other apps? Have you tried just saving the doc as a PDF first and then running it through Adobe Acrobat? Or, if you’ve got some kind of drawing software handy—just draw a quick rectangular box at the exact dimensions you need for your thesis and hit print to see if those margins get shifted too.

Once you're actually printing the final version of your thesis, you'll probably be using a heavy-duty professional laser printer anyway.

You definitely need it, though, I guess. Or maybe you don't; honestly, you can get most of this stuff done just fine using the free LibreOffice.

As far as I know, there aren't any restrictions once that 30-day trial period wraps up.

I'll give that Adobe Acrobat trick a shot today or tomorrow and let you know how it goes.😉
I'm just gonna use my own printer for now since it works perfectly fine, except for these margin issues, and I'm honestly worried they'll reject the whole thing because the university handbook is super specific about exactly how wide the margins have to be. They love making up all these strict rules.🙂🙂🙂
Sorry, I totally mixed those up—the printer is actually a Canon Pixma MP 280. Honestly, I have no clue why it’s acting like this, but I desperately need those margins to be spot on because this is for my senior thesis.
Nicholas King said:I’ve dealt with plenty of printers in my time, but I honestly can't remember ever seeing one take paper so inaccurately or incorrectly when it was loaded perfectly fine.

It’s pretty simple, really—you don't actually know if the issue is sitting right there in your own hardware until you send that same document to a buddy's printer, hit print, and see it come out flawless. That's your smoking gun right there.

So, what's the verdict now? You were convinced it was the printer before, but now you're thinking maybe it's the document itself? Honestly, I'm about to lose my mind here—does anyone actually have a way to fix this?🤷

EDIT: Also, how do I go about getting full control over this printer? Someone mentioned I might need to set myself up as a local administrator, so if anyone out there knows the drill, please walk me through it step by step.😉
Benjamin Wilson7 said:1. This whole mess usually happens with those cheap budget printers that chew through paper like a lawnmower in a hay field.
2. It might be the drivers—double-check that you actually grabbed the specific ones for your exact model and aren't just using some "close enough" version from the manufacturer's site.
3. Or maybe it's something else entirely, like hitting some weird hardware limit or print restriction buried in the manual.

Look, you were spot on—it definitely is the printer itself, because whenever I let a buddy borrow it, he can print anything without a single hiccup. I’ve already gone through the whole song and dance of installing the latest drivers, switched the settings from Letter to A4, poked around every menu in the settings, and tried pretty much everything under the sun, but I'm still hitting a brick wall. Is there actually a fix for this, or am I just shouting into the void?🙂🙂
So, I’ve got this Canon Pixma MP 280 sitting here, and I barely managed to get a single page out before it completely loses its mind, which tells me it isn't some sort of print volume limit issue. I’m using the original drivers that came right in the box, too. The thing is, everything looks perfectly fine in Microsoft Word—margins and all—but once it hits the paper, the layout is just totally trashed and nothing lines up where it should. :/
So, I’m running into this absolute headache with my page setup. I need all my margins set to exactly 1.2 inches, except for the right side, which needs to be about 0.8 inches. I go into the Page Layout settings, adjust everything manually, and when I’m actually typing away in the document, everything looks perfect—it shows my custom margins exactly how I want them. But then comes the kicker: the second I hit print, the whole thing falls apart. On the physical paper, nothing matches what I see on the screen. Like, the top might look okay at 1.2 inches, but then some other side jumps up to something like 1.5 inches, and that right margin that was supposed to be 0.8 inches ends up looking like it's only 0.6 inches from the edge. It’s completely wonky. Even when I take a ruler to the actual printed sheet, the math just doesn't add up; the software claims I have a 0.8-inch gap on the right, but my ruler is telling me it's clearly much smaller.
I haven't really jumped between different computers lately, and I’ve always just been saving everything in the 2007 format, so it feels pretty bizarre to me that the file size would suddenly drop by a full 4 MB out of nowhere.
I mean, I honestly have no clue how I managed to mess up the file extension, because I don't even think I actually changed it 😁
Maybe I'm overthinking this, but it seems pretty obvious that as you write more, the file size should go up, right? You add more text, you drop in more images—logic says the memory usage climbs.
I'm currently grinding through my senior thesis, and just the other day I had about 60 pages of text and graphics sitting at roughly 10 MB. Fast forward to today, I’ve tacked on another 20 pages—so we're looking at 80 total—and even though I haven't touched the old stuff, just added more content and images, the file size has somehow dropped down to 6 MB. It sounds completely backwards. I did a quick scan of the whole eighty-odd pages to make sure nothing vanished, and everything looks like it's still there, but I've never dealt with a situation where adding volume actually shrinks the footprint. Is it possible I totally botched something in the settings, or is this some weird software quirk that's actually normal? How can I double-check to make sure I didn't accidentally corrupt the file or lose data somewhere in the shuffle?🙂🙂🙂🙂
