"Oh, just eat something, honey, you'll feel better! Just try a little bit, don't be shy!"
That right there? That is hands down the absolute worst part of it all. The constant pressure to "not be embarrassed." Look, when I'm actually hungry, I'll grab a burger and dive in—I don't care who's watching. But if I'm not hungry? Then I'm not hungry! It shouldn't be a debate.
🤣
I wish I had your confidence. I still get embarrassed; I guess I just never quite outgrew those childhood hang-ups. 🤷
Jesse Ortiz71 said:Is this thread strictly limited to grandmas? Because honestly, I didn't have that specific "issue" with my own nana, but man, I notice it all the time when I'm visiting people. You go over to a friend's place for a quick hang, and suddenly their hospitality starts feeling like a total chore. And look, I’m not just pointing fingers at others—I catch myself doing the exact same thing to my guests. Why on earth isn't a simple no ever enough? It’s like people are terrified they'll look like terrible hosts if they don't keep piling food on your plate or hovering over you. Is that really where their heads are at?
I've definitely noticed that too. I think it happens because if someone declines, you feel awkward, so you end up saying
oh come on, just have a little bit, don't be shy over and over until they finally cave... it's a bad habit, honestly, but at least nobody leaves hungry. And it's usually not even about hunger, it's just about feeling awkward. 🧐I've actually done this to my friends, and they've done it to me. That seems to be the root of it.
As for grandmas, I never had an issue since they always piled food in front of me. I'd eat it all, and then they'd just say
wow, this girl sure has an appetite and that I'd never make it as a ballerina. I haven't eaten like that in ten years, though. 😢
You misunderstood me—bulimia is behind me now. I don't really purge anymore; at most, it’s an incredibly rare occurrence, which basically makes it a non-issue.
What puzzles me is how often I used to deal with stomach flu back in the day. It felt like I was getting hit by a virus at least twice a year, and of course, that led to spontaneous vomiting. Strangely enough, once my struggles with bulimia began, those random bouts of illness actually seemed to decrease. I used to think it was because I was purging intentionally, but even after that phase passed, I haven't had a single instance of spontaneous vomiting since.
So, for five years now, I haven't thrown up once—not from being sick and not from drinking. Before that period, though, those viruses were a regular part of my life.😕
I’ve noticed something lately, but I wasn't quite sure who to ask about it...
A few years back, I struggled with bulimia. It was active for about a year or two, depending on my mood—some stretches were worse than others. It was mostly passive; I kept it under wraps to lose about 10 to 20 pounds and then just maintain it. I managed to keep it hidden enough that it never became a major medical issue or landed me in a hospital. Even now, I still have occasional phases where it resurfaces, though it's much rarer now, usually just happening if I overeat or if I really dislike something I ate.
Anyway, getting to the point, I'm wondering if this has anything to do with a specific period in my life...
When I was younger, I dealt with a lot of stomach bugs, which basically tanked my immune system and made me a magnet for intestinal viruses. Back then, whenever I caught something, I would naturally throw up. This was all before the bulimia started.
But once I began intentionally inducing vomiting, I realized over time that spontaneous vomiting almost became impossible for me.
It's been nearly five years now, and I haven't vomited once from a stomach bug (those symptoms show up differently for me now). What's even stranger is that it doesn't happen from alcohol, either. If I drink, I can keep going as much as I want without ever throwing up. Even when I feel weak or dizzy, I just can't seem to vomit spontaneously. Usually, if I realize I've had too much, I have to force it because I'm worried about how it'll affect me...
So, is there a connection between training myself to vomit intentionally and losing the ability to do it naturally?

Who do you actually love? Who do you care about? In the last three months, who have you actually brightened up? Maybe you made an acquaintance laugh when they were having a rough time, or helped an elderly lady cross the street, or stopped to chat with a neighbor recovering from surgery to wish them a Happy New Year?
Is there even one single human being on this planet you actually give a damn about? When was the last time you reached out to them, or did something decent for them?
Arthur Morgan23 just said that Facebook is basically the easiest way to reconnect with people. A bunch of dear friends, or even those you’ve neglected, would probably be thrilled if you just called them for a coffee. You don't seem to need that. So, what is it you actually need?
Thanks for trying to translate my thoughts into something halfway intelligible for some people...

So, here’s my two cents on this whole mess, if you really want to know what I'm thinking about everything going down.

Who do I love? Honestly, nobody else.
I honestly don't give a damn about anyone.
Quentin Tarantino
I honestly can't stand those damn hitchhikers—they're just looking for a free ride and a way to mess with people who are actually trying to get somewhere. It’s such a headache.
Quentin Tarantino
I don't have any connections, man. Like, why is that so hard for you guys to wrap your heads around?

I asked him, but man, I almost took a heavy bag straight to the face!

Man, my neighbors are straight-up ghosting me.
just a few ghosts from my past
I’ve been grinding away behind a screen lately, but I haven't heard a peep back from anyone.
I haven't really had the chance, honestly, since everything is just digital anyway.
Like, I literally gifted him 10k gold in-game. Like, seriously, what more do you want?!
Could be true.
I don't buy it. They had plenty of chances back when I was active on social media.
Every time I tried to reach out, they just treated me like garbage.
Truthfully? No, I don't.
hey everyone. just messing around. ass, gas & grass
And I assume they did that for absolutely no reason, right? ☕
If you finally shared the inner workings of your mind, things might be easier for you. It seems unlikely that there are a thousand problems and you're the only one at fault. Quite incredible, isn't it? 🙄
Maybe I’m just naturally a bit selfish and narcissistic, so I don't really worry about anyone else's feelings...
Exactly—you hit the nail on the head! 🥳

17, if we're being generous... but you're acting like you're barely out of elementary school... grow up a little, will ya?
It feels like sarcasm is a foreign language to everyone here. ☕

And here I was, actually trying to be funny. 😕
mistyseal11 said:Arthur Morgan23, you seriously have zero sense of humor, I’m giving you a massive two-point deduction for that one.
I might just jump off this four-story building onto that Mercedes-Benz parked below, because I simply can't handle such harsh criticism—life just isn't worth living anymore.🙂

Give it a shot and click it.
I'll admit I'm a bit slow, but I'm not quite foolish enough to delete my Facebook just yet. :2up:
If he’s feeling unsure, it’s honestly better to just walk away now. There's nothing worse than catching feelings only to have someone tell you they've changed their mind later. :klap:
Maybe give him one last shot. Lay your cards on the table, set a clear deadline, and if he’s still dragging his feet after that, you'll know it's time to move on. :2up:
I had no idea people could come up with such mindless troll threads outside of this forum.
Sure, I'll believe anything you say, but if you didn't have Facebook—no way.🤦
I have one sitting on my dresser just collecting dust. I actually gave it a little cleaning yesterday.
