My Week with Marilyn (2011) in Movies ·
mistyhound2 said:That’s exactly why I want Michelle to take home that statue tomorrow. To be honest, Marilyn Monroe never really did much for me; I’d only ever sat through two of her movies. But after seeing this one, my perspective shifted entirely. Since then, I’ve gone down the rabbit hole—reading her biography, diving into fragments from her notebooks, picking up a few other books, and of course, watching more of her films. 😁 It’s embarrassing how wrong I was. I had such a warped perception of her. She was an incredibly brilliant woman, despite what most people think.

See, my experience was the complete opposite.
I adore Marilyn Monroe, which makes it hard for me to remain objective. I’ve watched all her films, read the books... while I actively avoided Michelle. Whenever she showed up on a red carpet or in a TV segment, she just seemed so bland 🤷 and I didn't expect much from her in this film. But I am speechless. She completely blew me away. Since yesterday, I haven't stopped watching her filmography, and in such a short time, she's become one of my favorite actresses. I'm crossing my fingers for her Oscar!

I'm not so sure about that. 🤔

I just grabbed it via torrent.

Just finished watching the movie. I am absolutely floored. 🙏

I’ve never been much of a fan of Michelle Williams, but this was something else entirely—it felt as if Marilyn Monroe herself had stepped off the screen.
It brings to mind what mistyhound2 once noted: "you can truly feel that signature fatal charm everyone remembers, but also that deep, aching vulnerability—a massive insecurity that borders on the pathological.👍"

It had been 12 hours before I realized, so I just followed the instructions on the box—took it this morning and then planned to take the next one tonight as usual. I haven't had any sex since because I didn't want to take any chances, even though the pamphlet says condoms are an option. My period was supposed to arrive yesterday (the third day of my break), but nothing. Now I’m lost. Has anyone else dealt with this?

edit: I didn't post this in the "Am I pregnant?" thread because there isn't even a question about pregnancy here.

It’s day seven of the hiatus. Still nothing. Nothing at all. Is anyone actually listening? Or are we just shouting into a void? 😕 I was supposed to start a new pack today. However, since I'm switching up my birth control, my gynecologist advised a three-month break first. So, nothing for me today.
I had an orgasm three days ago—on the fourth day of my break—and then absolutely nothing since. Is that normal?
I’m starting to get anxious. There isn't even a reason for it. I'm going a little crazy. 🤦

You can totally freak out over those 6 days if you want. 🙄

And honestly, if you’ve been taking them properly—like, you didn't miss a single pill—you're fine. You probably already know that! 😉

I’m aware of all that, but still, this little bit of anxiety just won't let me be. 🙂
By the way, I'm on Loestrin 20.

Kimberly Castillo2 said:In my experience, things were all over the place when I first started, but after a few months, it basically settled into a routine. Now I’m on Qlaira, which only has a two-day break—just two placebo pills—and I always get it on that second pill.

If you ask me, the longer you stay on them, the more your body just gets used to the rhythm. It should start coming at the same time every single cycle, like clockwork on the same day of the break. 😉

I’m bored. I’ve been taking these for five months now. My period always used to show up on the third day. Today is the third day, and nothing yet. I’m starting to worry. I know I have no actual reason to be anxious, but here I am. Why does that happen? Just an irrational feeling, I suppose. But still. 😁

Ladies, does your period arrive at the exact same time every single cycle (like, say, on the third day of the break), or is every month a complete wildcard?

Laura Mendoza said:If I were in your shoes, I’d stick with the therapy for now. Every cycle is its own unique beast. When you weren't on the pill, your periods probably felt pretty predictable—roughly the same length and pain level every time—but even then, there are always those outliers where one month is heavy, another is light, or the cramps just hit differently. If you truly never dealt with any discomfort before starting the pill, I’d suggest waiting out one more month before deciding to switch to a different brand.

Well, it actually always hurt. 😁
Thanks for the advice. I’ll finish this course and then ask my doctor for a prescription for something different during my follow-up appointment. 🙂

My gynecologist put me on Lindynette 20 for a six-month course. I’ve been taking them for two months now, and up until today, everything seemed perfectly fine.
However, my period arrived today—it’s the third day of my break, which is normal—but the cramps are absolutely unbearable. Honestly, the pain feels even more intense than it did before I started this treatment.
I need some perspective. Should I head back to the doctor and ask for a higher hormone dose, or should I just push through and finish the remaining four months of this therapy?

Something happened, and I just completely cut ties with those people.
To this day, we don't even exchange a "hello." I just stopped reaching out, stopped texting, and stopped asking them to grab a drink. It was a Facebook block, but also a total block in real life.

Same here. And I don't regret a single second of it. ☕
