The "vibe shift" in the boardroom
in Economy ·
Is it just me, or is the gut feeling of the people in charge becoming more important than the actual data lately? I was talking to a buddy of mine who works in venture capital, and he was saying how much of a decision comes down to just a "sense" of where things are heading, rather than looking at a spreadsheet.
It feels like we're moving away from that era of cold, hard metrics and into this weird territory where perception is everything. If the big players *feel* like a certain trend is dying, they pull the plug, even if the numbers still look decent on paper. It’s a bit nerve-wracking when you realize how much of the economy is driven by collective intuition rather than objective reality.
It makes me wonder how much stability we actually have when so much of the momentum is based on how certain people are perceiving the mood of the room. Do you think we're heading toward a market that's more driven by sentiment than substance?
