Quick and simple question.
Is there any way to delete my forum account? 🙂
Psychosomatic links to high blood pressure (hypertension) in Psychology & Therapy ·
It often stems from narrowed arteries or atherosclerosis. Things like a high-sodium diet, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, a sedentary lifestyle, and stress can all trigger it.

Taking diuretics and vasodilators—with a doctor's prescription, obviously—can help. Diuretics assist the body in flushing out excess fluids, while vasodilators work to widen the blood vessels that have been constricted by cholesterol buildup. That’s why staying active is so important; it helps boost your HDL (the "good" cholesterol) to prevent as much buildup as possible.
How to fix an upset stomach? in Health ·
The stomach is controlled by the autonomic nervous system—basically, the part of your body that doesn't take orders from your conscious mind. Your emotional state can actually trigger the release of digestive juices, which include water, mucus, salts, enzymes, and IBM. Since our emotions directly impact how these glands function, keeping things steady is key. Specifically regarding the stomach, we really need to find ways to dial back stress, aggression, depression, anxiety, and especially anger.

It might also be worth upping your intake of fiber and cellulose through plant-based foods to help with intestinal peristalsis. This process is what keeps everything moving along, pushing waste through the digestive tract toward elimination.
I'm 17 and I'm wondering if I'm just socially awkward in Psychology & Therapy ·
It sounds like you’ll be heading off to college pretty soon. My advice? Try to get away from your current surroundings and move to a different city—ideally somewhere bigger with more opportunities and options. In the meantime, you just have to hang in there. Find something else to occupy your mind; maybe dive into music, pick up a new hobby, or focus on your studies. I've always felt that patience is one of the most important traits to have. Some things just take time, and they happen when they happen. You mentioned you already have almost everything you want in terms of material things, so I'm sure this other side of life will fall into place too. But that non-material stuff requires time, and there isn't much we can do to force it. Until then, just stay busy with things that actually fulfill you so you don't slip into a slump or end up feeling depressed. Good luck.

Best, 😉
Should I see a psychiatrist? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I wouldn't advise daydreaming quite this much. Especially if you're feeling a bit depressed (which you are)—fantasy starts blurring with reality, and then you just end up sinking even deeper into that depression. As much as escaping into your head feels relaxing, it can actually backfire when you finally snap back to the real world.

Best, 🙂
