Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
😕
So, I used to have a pretty steady 28-day cycle—everything was totally predictable—but then things just went completely off the rails. It jumped to 20 days, then 23, 25, 24, and now it’s down to 15.
Fifteen days!!
Why on earth would this happen? 😢

(And before anyone asks—no, I haven't been under any crazy stress, my diet hasn't changed at all, and I haven't traveled anywhere recently. Everything about my lifestyle and environment is exactly the same as it was before this started happening. 😢 )

So, here I am 👋
What you’re looking at right now is what happens when you combine home workouts with some gym sessions—it hasn't been that long, though 😁
My main goal is definitely building up some serious muscle mass. 😬
Basically, I want to work my glutes and Jane Doe like this, lift and grow my butt, strengthen my back like this, and eventually hit that six-pack look...
Honestly, I’m pretty satisfied with how things are moving along—in such a short window, I’ve already managed to strengthen my back and develop a bit of a two-pack 😁 My Jane Doe haven't actually gotten any bigger visually, but they definitely feel stronger and more resilient ^^

Donna Hill6 said:I did, and she checked me out, but I ended up panicking because I went to her in the morning when I was barely even bleeding, so she just sent me home.

A friend of mine ended up bleeding for about a month straight. Eventually, things leveled out.
Basically, it takes the body roughly six months—if I recall correctly 🤔—to fully adjust to the pill, so don't sweat it too much 😉

Hey ladies!
So, here’s the deal—yesterday a friend of mine reached out asking about emergency contraception. She was looking for a way to handle things after the fact, and since I happen to have a full blister pack of Novynetta lying around that I don't use anymore, I suggested she take three pills followed by two—you know, the old 3+2 method. But then she hits me with this—she says that wouldn't even work if she waited too many hours after the actual encounter. Apparently, she wouldn't be able to get her hands on any emergency contraception for over 24 hours, so she thinks the timing would throw the whole thing off.

Is that actually true? I don't know—I’m leaning toward thinking they might be right, mostly because at the end of the day, we’re talking about the exact same thing... just with a different number of pills involved. 🤔

If I’m looking to quit these pills, do I actually have to finish the whole box? Like, what happens if I just toss them in the trash while I'm still halfway through the pack?

Nah, you just get your period a little earlier and that's about it. 😉

Bryan Ramirez18 said:So, if there's a 7-day break between two boxes of birth control, is it okay for a guy to finish inside during sex, or does that mean there's no protection anymore?

There's zero protection. 😉

And that’s just how things go—nothing out of the ordinary!
For those first six months, your body is basically just trying to find its rhythm—so seeing these kinds of irregularities is actually pretty standard.😉
Since my gynecologist is basically clueless about what’s going on with me (😠 😠 😠)—and keeps handing out antifungal pills that clearly aren't doing squat—I don't really have anywhere else to turn but here.
So, back last year, somewhere between fall and winter, I dealt with yeast infections twice. You know the drill: cottage cheese-like discharge, itching, and all the usual misery.
But this year has been different. I've got this heavy, white discharge constantly. It doesn't itch, but I’m suddenly having these frequent trips to the bathroom all the time. On top of that, sex is actually painful; there's hardly any position that feels okay. As for the taste of the discharge, it's like licking rusted metal. And once I finally get home from college, take off my underwear, the smell is basically like a sumo wrestler stripping off his gear after a full day of wrestling in a tiny locker room.☕ I went all out with testing—swabs for aerobes, anaerobes, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, and HPV—and everything came back totally clean.
What could this possibly be? I am beyond fed up with using things like Canesten, which aren't helping one bit.😠 My sex life is so miserable right now I wouldn't even call it a sex life, and honestly, I'm just incredibly angry about it!
:'(
If you have supplemental insurance, just go through your referral for blood work. 🤷
First, I went to see Dr. Ginić—told him exactly what was going on—and he ran a Pap smear, then sent me off for some blood tests. Once I got back with the results, he just handed me a prescription for some pills. 🙂
I didn't end up paying for anything except the medication itself.

Now for my situation: 😁
Since I’m officially off the pill now, I figured I’d ask just to be safe—because, let's be honest, I can never quite trust how condoms perform:
How many Novynette pills should I take, and what's the actual protocol for using them as emergency contraception?

I have a quick question... and please, if anyone can answer as soon as possible, I'd really appreciate it 🙂
So, I've been on birth control for six months now. I need to get a new prescription because my last one was only valid for six months (and even if it wasn't expired, I'd still need a new one since someone actually stole my wallet, which had my prescription in it along with everything else -.-).
My question is, can I just show up at the clinic door to pick up a new script without an appointment, or do I have to go through a full check-up again?
I'm taking Yaz, by the way.

Thanks to whoever (if anyone) decides to reply 😬

You don't need an exam 😉
I've always been able to get mine without one 🙂

Hey everyone!

So, at the start of this month, I decided to stop taking the pill. My last period came right on schedule during the break—everything seemed totally normal then—but honestly, I’m low-key panicking now. I just feel... off. I’m feeling super bloated (maybe I’m just hyper-focusing on it now, but my stomach definitely looks bigger 😠), my breasts are incredibly sensitive to the touch, and I’ve been dealing with some mild nausea and dizziness.
It could be the anemia acting up—which was actually much more manageable while I was on the pill, but now it seems to have crawled back to its old self—or maybe it’s just some random food poisoning. But whatever.
Right now, I’m mostly wondering: what are all the possible side effects—if there even are any—that come with quitting birth control?
Am I just hallucinating this whole thing or what? 🙏

One more thing—when would my ovulation actually happen?
I know the rule of thumb is usually 14 days before your period, but since it feels like I'm going to be waiting an eternity for this next one, I just want to be prepared. 😉

Can a name cause trauma? in Psychology ·
Back in elementary school, everyone used to give me crap because of my name. It actually got to the point where people started hating me—I kid you not, all because of a name! 🙏 And I didn't do anything else to deserve being disliked.
Because of that, I ended up becoming one of those losers that nobody would even give the time of day to.
Every single time I introduced myself to someone, they’d just laugh right in my face.
This went on all the way through high school. Seriously, I didn't get even a shred of respect or basic decency from anyone I introduced myself to.
Eventually, I started lying to people about what my name was and stuff like that.
But I’d usually only do that with people I had no intention of showing my real self to, or with people I was certain I’d never run into again.
But honestly, things are totally different now that I'm in college. I say my name and that's it—every reaction is basically, "Whoa, that's such a cool name!"
Out of pure disbelief, I'll ask, "Are you kidding me?"
The response is always, "No, really, it's a great name, super unique and interesting."
I mean, alright then. At least now I actually feel comfortable introducing myself.
But did it leave some lasting trauma? Definitely.

Like, say you’re in a relationship, and you aren't working yet—just focusing on college.
When it comes to buying stuff like tablets, do you pay for them yourself, does your boyfriend just grab them for you, or is it more of a fifty-fifty kind of deal?🤷

😉

Fifty-fifty. Everyone I know does it that way, so that's how my boyfriend and I handle it.

I’m thinking about taking a month-long break from my birth control this month—mostly because I don't really feel the need to be on them right now, and honestly, money is a bit tight, so I'm curious exactly which day I should get back on them after this thirty-day hiatus. Just to be clear, I’m currently on Novynette (the 21+7 pack).
Do I start on the first day of my period, or am I supposed to count the day I would have normally started a new pack if I hadn't taken this break? Thanks! 🙂

Larry Thompson44 said:Yeah, I'm basically waiting on it. It should've shown up any day now. Honestly, my cycle was never timed to the minute anyway. But this is the first time I've had this weird, super light spotting 🙂 right when it matters most—because I really need to get on these pills...

Super confusing, right? 🤷

It’s not the end of the world—just take it today, then use condoms along with the pills for the next two weeks 😉.
Hey there!
How much white discharge is actually normal when you're taking pills? 🤔
It’s just... pretty heavy 🤔

darkwalker2 said:Dear friends,
I have a question I’d like to pose, almost like a little informal survey for the group. I truly hope many of you will feel inclined to weigh in. 🙂

What I’m wondering is whether you find birth control pills to be sufficient protection on their own. Do you supplement them with other forms of contraception, or perhaps just rely on the withdrawal method?

The reason this is weighing on my mind is that I frequently find myself spiraling into anxiety about pregnancy, even though I’ve been on the pill for months—even years, actually. This month, I had a bit of a crisis; I ended up with a stomach bug and was vomiting about two hours after taking my pill, and I wasn't quick enough to realize I needed to take another dose immediately. Fortunately, my period arrived and everything seems fine, but it has left me questioning if relying solely on the pill is a gamble I shouldn't be taking.
I am well aware that no contraceptive is a hundred percent foolproof, but I am genuinely curious how the rest of you handle things. If you use extra precautions, what are they? And more importantly, do you deal with that same gnawing dread, waiting for your cycle to arrive with your heart in your throat?

Historically, I’ve always used secondary methods alongside the pill, but as I spent time reading through your posts here, I started to wonder if I was being overly cautious. Now, looking back, I suspect my old instincts were actually the wiser ones. 🙂

Please, do share your thoughts and advice, as I am incredibly eager to hear your perspectives!

Honestly, I feel completely secure just on the pill—I don't see any reason to bother with extra protection. ^^
I have a few friends who were on the pill for about six months and missed a period once—it eventually showed up, of course—but they got so spooked about being pregnant that they started using backup methods. As for me, I haven't had a single issue so far; I figure the pills do exactly what they're supposed to do, and that's that. 😁 Hopefully, I'm not jinxing myself here. 😁

Paul Rivera said:I’m just jealous, 😁 mine are only for half. Maybe I should switch over to Qlaira, I guess. 😬

Novynette definitely made her point too.
