Is Allianz's "free" consulting actually free?

I actually think you could benefit from it. You clearly aren't too familiar with the details, and since you're an adult working in the real world, you really ought to understand things like "pension funds" or how the retirement system works—not to mention taxes, banking, loans, and investing. You can pick all of that up during a consultation like this. Maybe you don't feel like you need it right this second, but you'll likely hit a point in your life where you'll be glad you had the info. And if I remember correctly, just getting advice doesn't commit you to anything.
I've been to one myself—though not at Allstate—but I assume the pitch is pretty much the same everywhere. Also, it's definitely not true that you have to save half your paycheck. It's probably best to just listen for yourself and make your own call.
