My head is a mess in Psychology ·
Oh, right... and thanks so much for the advice about finding a hobby I actually enjoy. I really think that's something I definitely need to do, you know? It would probably help me feel way less overwhelmed by everything and maybe even give me a bit more self-confidence. Tnx! 🙂

Thanks. 🙂 I think I’m going to try to give myself a little more breathing room to actually form coherent sentences from now on. My lack of clarity today ended up causing a total misunderstanding at work. It wasn't like anything major blew up, but man, I still felt pretty lousy about it. So, yeah, I've decided no more important conversations while I'm rushing through the hallway. And definitely no more rushing. Now I'm just wondering how my coworkers are going to perceive me while I'm busy processing everything in my head. 😁 They'll probably think I'm plotting something sinister. 😉
My head is a mess in Psychology ·
Hey there!

I decided to title this "a total mess in my head" because I’m actually dealing with two different things here. One of them is something I’ve known about for ages, but the second one just really hit me lately.

First issue:

I have a pretty large circle of friends, mostly because I’m an empathetic person, a good listener, and people generally enjoy hanging out with me. But, it happens all the time where I don't express myself quite right and people end up totally misunderstanding me. A friend actually pointed this out to me about 15 years ago, telling me that I basically expect people to be mind readers. And honestly? She was totally right. When I'm trying to explain something or share an idea, I feel like I'm being super clear and descriptive, but then I see the look on people's faces and realize they didn't get it at all. I usually end up having to explain myself all over again. I definitely find it much easier to communicate through writing, since I have the time to actually organize my thoughts and build sentences properly. I've also noticed that I struggle even more when I'm talking to someone who feels insincere or someone who acts overly authoritative. I tried searching online for tips on how to improve my communication skills and self-expression, but I haven't found anything that really clicks. Does anyone have any advice on how I can work on expressing myself better? Maybe a book recommendation that covers this kind of thing?

Second issue:
I have this constant need to be liked—you know, to be seen as a "good person." I know, I know... everyone wants to be liked. But for me, I’m always worrying about what people are going to think of me. It's especially bad at work. I'll finish a task or make a decision, and then I immediately start viewing my own actions through the lens of how someone else might judge them. I didn't used to be like this. It almost feels like the older I get, the more sensitive I become to other people's opinions. I guess it should probably be the opposite, right? 😢

Melissa Clark13 said:Hey everyone,
I started this thread for anyone looking for doctor recommendations in Indianapolis. I'm 43 and have seen plenty of them.
Zubarija: I’ve seen most of them, and honestly, the best sleep I've had was with... Dr. Polak to Joseph Prpic.Young guy, extremely meticulous. He did my bridge and pulled three teeth without me feeling a single bit of pain. He even sent me to a surgeon to get stitches after the extractions just to make sure there wouldn't be any craters left—something most people wouldn't bother doing. $50)
Extraction.$33)
Most is. $333 Just a tooth. $67 It costs more than those budget dentists you find right outside a Walmart. The clinic has a waiting room with a TV, though they usually call you in right on schedule—I’ve never actually had to wait. They won't charge you until you're satisfied with the work. Everything is handled very professionally, and they're flexible with arrangements. The only downside is they don't have an X-ray machine on-site, so if you need imaging, you'll have to head over to the local community health center.
I’m giving him a full 5 out of 5 stars. 👍

Dr. Polak I went to see a young guy over on European Avenue East, and honestly, I wasn't feeling it. I went in just to get a single filling replaced, but without even asking me, he shot me up with three different injections, swapped out three fillings, and then billed me for the whole works. He’s just a penny-pincher who doesn't care about what the patient actually wants or needs. I won't be going back there.👎

Dr. Filipovic. She’s a top-tier doctor working through Medicare. Her mood swings can be hit or miss, but if you're picking from those Medicare providers, she’s probably your best bet.👍

Vladimir Haring and his wife.I’ve been to both of their clinics, and honestly? Not impressed. Sure, the facilities are nice, but they treat patients like they're on an assembly line. They aren't exactly focused on doing the job right. He’s slightly better than she is, at least when it comes to actual expertise.
Haring's wife is Dr. Polak's sister.👎

Dusica SiberWay too expensive. The wife is fine, but since the old man retired, I’ve only been there once. He prefers filing down teeth without using any numbing agents. He talks about you to his wife like you aren't even standing right there. The guy is a complete moron. His son runs the practice now, but I haven't been back yet.👎

This is just what I’ve dealt with personally. I know some people won't agree, which is exactly why I'm starting this thread—so everyone can share their own experiences and draw their own conclusions.

Mod edit:
This thread belongs in its proper place—the "Looking for a Doctor..." sticky. Opening individual threads like this just clutters the board and turns into a massive advertisement or a venting session that stretches on for pages.

I saw Dusica Siber, and she prefers avoiding injections.

I've had about five or six teeth fixed, and I've never once needed an injection. 😲😁

I honestly wonder how I pulled that off. Most people wouldn't dream of sitting in a dentist's chair without being knocked out first. My procedure went smoothly, and since it was about four or five years ago, the costs weren't a total nightmare—plus, being a broke college student back then meant they were a bit more lenient with the bill. $33 Back when I first arrived...

I need dental work done. I’m living in Chicago now and can't decide which of these people to see from that massive list. I checked out the place I mentioned over at Sever, but man, those prices are insane.

Look, if price isn't your main concern when picking a private dentist—I’d suggest the Sever clinic over on Broadway, near that Briton guy's place.

In my opinion, they're pricey, but I know people who go there and they do great work.

I apparently need an endodontic procedure done, which looks like it'll run me at least 1 $167 if not more..😲 To me, that's just fucking expensive.

They show you their full price list right away, so there aren't any "I didn't know" excuses.

And the prices are... $117 if you take this plus some $233 for that plus whatever else + $67 X-rays...

So, if anyone knows a private specialist who does that specific "procedure" without charging an arm and a leg while still getting good results, let me know.🙂

Also, has anyone actually seen Dr. Cekić over on Austrian Street?
Since this thread’s been dead for ages, I’ll be the one to kick things off again. 🙂

I’m dealing with the exact same thing—swelling on my left side and it hurts whenever I touch it.

It basically flares up overnight when I'm fasting, but the second I eat anything, it feels like that spot is on fire. Chewing becomes a real struggle. 😠

I did some digging online, and it sounds like my salivary gland might be inflamed. If it doesn't settle down by Monday, I'm heading to my doctor.

I really hope I don't end up needing those procedures 😲 what does that actually look like? 🤷
