How do you deal with the horrors you see and hear? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Honestly, I don't really let things get under my skin until they are practically knocking on my front door. It doesn't matter how much filth or pure horror is being reported out there; I’ll certainly condemn it, but it won't move the needle for me until it's right in my backyard.

I mean, look, I am well aware of all the tragedies and horrors unfolding across America, so whatever news I read or hear, it rarely catches me off guard anymore. It’s just part of the landscape. It’s only when a crisis actually reaches my own doorstep—when it starts affecting my immediate community—that it truly begins to impact me personally.

Just as I suspected

Honestly, what chance would they have at detonating three separate bombs if they couldn't even manage to find enough of them to actually set off an explosion? It’s practically impossible

We're looking at nothing but fake news and manufactured scares now; expect this kind of nonsense to be popping up on the news cycle every single day from here on out...

It just feels a bit fishy to me, you know? Like, how is it even possible that they managed to track down three separate bombs in three different locations and yet, somehow, not a single one actually went off? To my mind, there’s definitely something smelling a little off about that whole situation.

Honestly, these aren't even actual attacks; it's just a bunch of idiots messing with the government and trying to scare the public. You have these absolute morons making prank calls about bombs being planted here and there, acting just like some immature kids back in high school, taking advantage of the situation to stir up panic. It’s heartbreaking because there are far too many people out there who actually thrive on this kind of chaos—they don't want peace, they want more turmoil. This isn't about terrorists targeting stadiums; it's just plain old mischief and malice.

Well, at least not today... though I suppose we can't say the same for Paris, where things were legitimately terrifying this past Friday due to actual terrorist threats.

I just don't see how these intelligence agencies can actually get ahead of this—or even come close to it, really—unless they were somehow able to monitor every single person on the planet twenty-four hours a day. It’s just not happening. There is no way to predict if someone like Asamir is going to suddenly decide to go blow himself up near a suburban shopping mall and take innocent lives with him. We aren't dealing with your textbook, old-school terrorists here; these guys have likely been living in places like Paris or other major metropolitan hubs for years, and there are almost certainly more just like them scattered across various cities throughout the country. It feels like we're all just waiting for the clock to run out until they decide to end their own lives and take others down with them along the way.

The only way this whole nightmare finally stops is when they are completely wiped out. Trying to track down and arrest every single one of them is an impossible task, so, if you ask me, we might as well just accept that we're stuck with this reality. And honestly, all this talk about closing the borders? It feels like it's coming about twenty years too late to make any real difference.
