Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
Just when you think you've heard every possible nonsense under the sun, here comes someone spinning a psychotic web involving war, hygiene, Satanism, and gender reassignment surgery.

That's a diagnosis right there. Harsh.

On this day in history:
September 28, 1991. Lollapalooza at the Brooklyn airfield in Moscow.
The Black Crowes, Pantera, Metallica, and AC/DC performed for a massive crowd of 1.6 million people.

The kind of mobilization Mad Vlad and his rabble could only dream of achieving.

You have no idea how right you are. The New York Times, which basically acts as the official mouthpiece for the Five Star Movement, is a breeding ground for these kinds of comments—anti-NATO and, to put it mildly, sympathetic toward Russia. One of the founders actually quit the paper recently because he couldn't stomach the editorial direction, especially after they refused to publish his weekly column because it didn't fit the paper's general tone.
And the comment sections under those articles? Absolute bottom of the barrel. Compared to them, the ones on Index are a walk in the park.

The New York Times is so aggressively against NATO and the USA that one of their own journalists, Massimo fin, actually wrote a column arguing that during WW2, the Americans were essentially the true occupiers and the Germans were the liberators. That’s exactly why Furio Colombo, one of the founders, quit. Note: Colombo was born in 1931, so he actually lived through Mussolini's terror and the German occupation himself.

I won't go too far off-topic, but here is what English Wikipedia says about The New York Times, since this is still technically a thread about the Russian invasion of Ukraine (my emphasis):

Following The start of The 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the paper took a pro-Russian stance, causing the resignation of long-time contributor Furio Colombo.

And yeah, the comment sections are so bad that even the New York Post wouldn't be ashamed of them.

Jesse Harris6 said:"First soap then perfume."

With this comment, they’re essentially implying that Muslims are dirty—suggesting an entire people is unclean. It is absolutely scandalous and beyond shameful. Honestly, it’s most shameful for us Americans.

Biden is a true expert when it comes to hygiene and personal care: he suggests soap to Muslims, tells The Knights to go skinny dipping in the ocean, and recommends professional observation to Elizabeth Warren.

High school material.
Please, don't mention it.

I was simply making a comparison between two presidents, but I see that’s a bit too complex for you.

Honestly, that little avatar of yours seems almost too perfect for this kind of logic...

He was just picking up some "food a friend from California was going to toss and had no one else to give it to," so for the sake of convenience, he ended up in "some unimportant hole" where "ministers would show up like last-resort donkeys" (sic).

A perfectly standard statement coming from the President of a United States of America member state within the European Union.

(reminder)

For comparison, I am trying to imagine if the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, had said the exact same thing in the middle of the pandemic and all those lockdown measures: "Annai a pigghiari di li cosi da manciàri chi era da jittari via, pi 'n purtusu pi nenti 'mpurtanti unni i ministri ci annavano comu di poviri ciucci."

Good grief, Mr. President, do you even know who you are dealing with?

The funny thing is, neither that reporter from CNN nor you seem to have any clue what’s actually going on here...

Even FactCheck.org hasn't a clue. Luckily we have fact-checkers like you to explain Joe Biden's parables to us simpletons; otherwise, we wouldn't know what that great poet was trying to say.

Ergo, take a deep breath and read it again, preferably with some comprehension:

Ukraine.
Threatening.
With nuclear.
Weapons.

Jamie Grant said:Zelensky made it crystal clear: if even one single provision of the
Budapest Memorandum isn't respected, then the whole thing is worthless.
One of those specific provisions is that Ukraine won't produce or
acquire nuclear weapons. And that is exactly what Zelensky is
aiming at.

If you are referring to his speech from Munich back in February, Zelenskyy didn't say the provisions were invalid a priori, but rather that they would be called into question should negotiations with Russia fail to continue:

"I am initiating consultations in the framework of the Budapest Memorandum. The Secretary of State was commissioned to convene them. If they do not happen again or their results do not guarantee security for our country, Ukraine will have every right to believe that the Budapest Memorandum is not working and all the package decisions of 1994 are in doubt."

Lo and behold, Russia gave up on those talks and failed to send its envoys to that conference, all while simultaneously massing troops on the border with Ukraine.

I tip my hat to your telepathic abilities.
Zelenskyy made no mention of producing or acquiring nuclear weapons in his speech, yet curiously, the narrative regarding an "Ukrainian nuclear threat" aligns perfectly with the rhetoric used by Reuters, the Associated Press and other obscure pro-Putin media outlets.

Conclusion, just as Titian said regarding Kizov's statement:

Charles Thompson18 said:What kind of context are you actually talking about here? I don't see any justification for this total nonsense, nor for his constant, repetitive whining about how we should only be thinking about the United States or Canada.

I’m bowing out of this debate regarding Ukraine since there's already a PDF covering it. Enjoy yourselves.

I mean, all the Russian arguments are total nursery school nonsense too, and honestly, my analogy holds water. It starts with them claiming Ukraine isn't even a real nation—denying their language and their people exist—and goes all the way to grown men talking about drugged-up super soldiers who supposedly had their morals wiped out just to kill better, or those supposed drug gangs in Kyiv and all that. Forget about NATO or the USA... the truth is simpler. Russia just wants territory, they don't recognize that UA even exists, and that’s really it.
The analogy holds water. Even Putin went as far as comparing Ukraine to a woman who's been raped.

Putin resorted to quoting song lyrics about rape and necrophilia just to justify Russia's demands from Ukraine. "Whether you like it or don't like it, bear with it, my beauty," Putin said. Unbelievable.

It’s pretty obvious that Israel needs to undergo de-nazification in the near future.
Besides, didn't even Lavrov himself claim that Hitler was actually part of the Jewish community?

Every time they screw something up, their narrative just loops through the same three pathetic excuses:

a) It wasn't us. We have zero clue who did it.🤷>
b) It wasn't us. The Ukrainians targeted themselves.
c) Okay, fine, it was us, but we were only hitting military targets.

It’s an endless cycle.

I suppose the guy doing the demolition will probably end up with a medal for his service, which is quite the contrast to anyone else who might actually try to stop him—they’d likely face seven years in prison for "discrediting the Russian armed forces."

What’s next? Tearing down STOP signs because they share colors with the Polish flag. Time to de-Nazify the entire traffic system.

Dmitry Medvedev: "The US and their useless puppets would do well to remember the words of the Bible: Judge not, lest ye be judged, otherwise God's wrath will one day come upon their doorstep."
(Washington Post)

Question: Which god—and I'm using a lowercase 'g' here for a reason—is Putin's regime actually fighting for? Is it Orthodox or Muslim, considering the Kadyrovs simultaneously claim this is actually jihad to defend Islam?

Is this perhaps some new, three-pronged Islamic joint venture?

Anyway, since the unstable Medvedev enjoys quoting the Gospel according to Matthew, maybe he missed the part in chapter 7, verses 3 through 5: "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

Great, so it turns out Western sanctions aren't just failing to hurt the Russian economy—they're actually helping it. Why on earth is Medvedev calling them a casus belli because of that? Only he knows.

Sergej Lavrov: "The USA feels the sting of sanctions, but Europe suffers far more."

Dmitriy Medvedev: "Western sanctions are an act of aggression and a justification for war."

Conclusion: the sanctions being imposed hurt the USA, but they damage the European Union even more; however, these measures represent an act of international aggression and serve as a pretext for war, meaning Russia has every right to defend itself.

Makes perfectly sense. 🙄

Now, I can't decide if you Russian chess players:

a) haven't coordinated on the specific version of the story you'll tell the public (which I doubt, because they aren't that stupid)

or

b) are just shaping the narrative day by day—sometimes even within the same day—so they can claim anything and its opposite, whatever sticks.

Either way, it strikes me how much they can bark.

Jessica Peterson2 said:Bravo! You’ve just coined a brilliant new term: Special Goodwill Operation = the chaotic withdrawal of aggressor units from occupied territory. 👍

Thanks. 😉

It’s all just a matter of linguistic nuance, isn't it? Next step: we should tell Putin, Lavrov, Peskov, Medvedev, and Zakharov that the European Union hasn't actually imposed any sanctions on Russia, but merely implemented Special economic and financial measures. 😁
After all, Medvedev himself claimed just two months ago that these sanctions don't bother them one bit (not even slightly), so I fail to see why Putin's regime machine thinks there's a problem here. 😬

Reading through TASS, I see the great humanitarian, Putin, called Kyiv's actions in the Donbas crimes against humanity.

Following what happened in Bucha, Mariupol, Kramatorsk, and Kremenchuk, this stunted, multi-faceted aggressor entity is now accusing Kyiv of crimes against humanity—all after having stated, with total coldness, that the Russian army does not target civilian sites.

My ass.

George Orwell was right:
