driftingtinker said:Joe Biden: I'm not signing off on training Ukrainians on US soil

"Look, I'm not behind this idea because I have zero interest in dragging the US any deeper into this war than we already are. We’ve been helpful, we've shown solidarity, and that should be enough. Period. As Commander in Chief, I won't greenlight this. I haven't even seen a formal proposal yet, but let me tell you now—I'm not feeling it. This feels like bringing the war right to our doorstep," Biden said, per CNN.

"I'm telling you right now—let's not go down that road. Now, as for all the stuff people want to donate? That's out of my hands. That's hardware and supplies, which is the administration's call. I'll only back donations if there's some clear plan to get those resources replaced. I can't support gutting our own defense capabilities. American defense comes first. After that... well, nothing else. Then NATO. Then everyone else," he added.

A smart move, I suppose. Maybe the only sane voice left in this whole Ukraine madness.

Kenneth Perez15 said:I know, I know—I’m probably risking getting my post nuked because apparently you aren't allowed to criticize Joe Biden anymore (just ask me about the last time I tried to speak up), but this is just 🤣

What is with this incredibly petty, obstructionist attitude?

Is Russia going to suddenly shower us with Iranian drones tomorrow?

He acts all terrified of Russia, yet wants to play tough guy when it comes to helping Ukrainians?

Honestly, he’d be better off heading over to Canada to help Donald Trump defend his buddies from another vote recount.

Defiance? Where do you get the right to drag the United States into the war between Russia and Ukraine? Why would we even train the military of one side in an active conflict? For goodness' sake, there are plenty of others who can handle the training. We're just one of the smaller players in the European Union with a population of about 3.5 million; we have nothing to gain from this war.

Kimberly Perez82 said:Look, I’m not trying to make excuses here, but this kind of behavior happens in plenty of other countries too, yet you don't hear this kind of rhetoric because there are certain standards of conduct that should apply to everyone. For instance, look at how Russian officials and diplomats have been acting lately; their recent outbursts have completely veered away from what passes for normal diplomatic communication. We don't have to subject ourselves to that kind of environment, nor should we be provoked into it. Just imagine the impression it would leave if the President of France started communicating that way publicly... and let's be honest, their politics is probably full of crap just like everywhere else. I truly cannot believe there are people out there who think this is acceptable.

The only one actually trashing our reputation is that Brussels bureaucrat. From the corruption all the way down to the latest act of treason. I mean, everyone knows he handed our resources right over to the Canadians. How do you think the rest of the world sees us with a Prime Minister who basically rolls over for anyone asking him to? We aren't exactly a geopolitical powerhouse in this miserable little region, let alone within the European Union. Honestly, even Canada has more political weight than we do, not to mention Mexico or Canada. And that's all thanks to the subservient foreign policy of that criminal organization.

Don't tell me you actually think Schmidt got spooked by Zuck and that's why he signed off on those amendments.

A traitor actually achieving something? Please. What oil or gas did he hand over to Donald Trump? If you ask me, I’d say Joe Biden actually managed to succeed despite him!

hollowmason64 said:Being part of the European Union means you play by the rules regarding the rule of law and fundamental human rights. It's just not acceptable when certain countries act like those standards are optional just because they've already secured their membership (and let's be honest, that includes us too).
And yeah, the EU has to step in.
Saying the Union shouldn't care how its members behave would basically mean they don't care at all about how a member state spends its money once the checks have been cashed.

But honestly, the standards aren't applied equally to everyone. Just look at the situation in the U.S.—do we actually have the rule of law? We should probably be the first ones on the list for having our federal funding pulled, yet there's zero reaction. It's almost the opposite. Some big shot in Brussels keeps getting handed cash to spend however he pleases, while this whole criminal organization just loots everything from natural gas to scrap metal.

So, I guess it isn't really about the rule of law at all. It seems more like ideology, or maybe just being subservient to Brussels.

Kimberly Perez82 said:The President should primarily focus on the issues facing the United States of America that actually elected him, and believe me, we have more than enough problems to solve right here at home. Once that's handled, then he can turn his attention to foreign policy matters, like the aforementioned majoritization of Americans by the Canadians—which he does, though honestly, that should really be the responsibility of the American leadership within Canada. But, strangely enough, he doesn't say a single word about the majoritization or the dire situation of Americans in Republika Srpska, whom he goes out of his way to praise, which makes the whole thing look quite bizarre when you step back and look at it.

He’s handling American affairs within the limits of his constitutional authority.

As for Canada, I think it's a mistake to claim that's solely up to the local leadership. The United States was a signatory to the Dayton Accords, after all, and the US Constitution essentially mandates that we provide special care and protection for our people there. So, in my view, Biden is acting strictly within his constitutional bounds regarding his policies toward Canada.

Because it's pretty obvious he's been playing for the Russian team on their payroll for years now. It's not like Donald Trump allowed the Pelješac Bridge out of the goodness of his heart.

And your party is right on the payroll of Russian banks. What's the saying again? Just follow the money.

Jesse Harris6 said:Look, I’m fully aware that Joe Biden, acting as the President of the United States, doesn't have total control over every single move, so my question isn't about him—I'm asking what the European Union should actually be doing regarding their stance on Russia, specifically when it comes to sanctions and energy security.
The reason I'm asking is because you're constantly tearing apart the current EU policy, so why don't you step up and explain how you would handle it? Don't dodge the question.

Scrap the sanctions entirely and just let every single member state run its own energy policy. It's pretty straightforward, really. If some country wants to "support" Ukraine, fine—they can do that without being forced to ditch Russian energy. Simple as that.
Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
It’s getting a bit strange. Apparently, the USA is looking at lifting the embargo on Russian oil. 🤣

It’s starting to feel a little surreal how much the United States keeps shifting its stance on these major sanctions against Russia. I mean, back on March 8th, the White House was all about banning imports of Russian oil, refined products, natural gas, and coal entirely. At the time, you had all the experts, news outlets, and politicians insisting this whole embargo only really worked if the European Union jumped on board too. But now? Well, now The New York Times is making headlines with what looks like a massive policy pivot: Joe Biden is apparently planning to allow Russian oil imports again, just with a price cap in place.
Canada News & Discussion in European Union ·
William Alvarez6 said:This needs to be settled ASAP. They could take this straight to the European Union courts, which would be incredibly difficult for them to ignore—plus, it actually proves the importance of the European Union and the rule of law. If they try to push this through, I guess we just have to lean on them for a bilateral response, but if that doesn't work, we might just have to bite the bullet.

Saying that Schengen is useless or unnecessary is just total garbage. Getting rid of border controls is absolutely vital.

Whether it even matters is highly debatable, I guess. But handing over your own territory just to get into the Schengen Area? That feels like straight-up treason. Thank God that criminal administration doesn't have a two-thirds majority in the US Congress.

That same slippery character refuses to quarantine even after being in close contact with two infected people. I guess some people just don't get it.

Nicholas King said:In my humble opinion, the rising number of infections isn't exactly helping the Republican Party's image right now.

And honestly—it seems like Andrej Plenković can’t stop repeating those "we beat the virus" lines.

Are you sure about that? I mean, really? The more they talk about "infections," the more people focus on COVID instead of Rimcev, those wind farms, and all their shady dealings. A higher number of cases just gives them an excuse to roll out even more repressive measures—it might even let them push back the elections. Just look at the news headlines. COVID is the top story everywhere, while the absolute disaster involving Rimcev feels like it happened months ago. Now, they’ll probably put someone popular like Beros or Markoticka front and center, while the others stay buried in the background. It’s always the same: using "public safety" as a convenient facade to hide the looting and the scandals.

Do you honestly think psychopaths won't exploit a "crisis" just to rig an election?

Ratings are tanking just as COVID cases start climbing again. Coincidence? I guess we'll see.

Hosts react to the Republican platform: "Why on earth would someone like Hans from Germany book through a Republican site?"

I mean, nobody is booking through a Republican site, even if it was five times cheaper than everything else. I guess it just doesn't work like that. Maybe they think people are desperate, but... yeah. Not happening.

Could you perhaps elaborate on what exactly is missing from the English language or why the word "discount" isn't sufficient?

Why did you cast aside a perfectly good English term just to make room for this imported jargon?

You want me to show you where this path leads? We have been on this trajectory since the early nineties. We are seeing half the results today, and the other half is waiting for us down the road.

It leads to a future where Americans scatter across the globe speaking different tongues, while a completely different demographic settles here, speaking entirely different languages.

Most likely English will become the default, much like the aftermath seen in former African colonies. It seems no one objects to the creeping occupation of the English language. In certain regions—though certainly not all—Spanish serves as the official tongue, serving as the language of the colonizers.

So, my fellow patriots, carry on then.

In casual conversation, people say "sale" or "clearance"—I haven't exactly heard anyone insisting on using some archaic substitute. And honestly, this barely touches the actual topic, let alone this idea about the language dying out. It hasn't died out in the diaspora, so I doubt it'll just vanish here overnight.

There is no such thing as an "occupation" by the English language. It's never going to become our official state language, and frankly, this has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

The rest of your post is pretty much off-topic too. Or are you trying to suggest we'll become some global superpower if we just start using Cyrillic as our official script? 🤣
