Nicholas King said:What exactly are you basing that claim on?

More than fifty percent of the adult population in America got vaccinated—are you seriously suggesting they all "think" these measures were useless?

It isn't just an opinion; I am certain their children wouldn't be wearing masks in schools if given the choice. And those parents themselves wouldn't mind either, at least for the vast majority.

Let’s be honest for once. If masking were actually just a suggestion or a guideline, most parents would tell their kids they don't have to wear them if they don't want to. But since it’s clearly a mandatory requirement for attending school, those same parents turn around and demand government intervention, child removal, blood counts, lockdowns, and all sorts of other sanctions. For someone who simply voiced what the majority of people actually think, it's quite something. Such a hypocritical society.

In Canada, they’ve got first graders wearing masks constantly, swapping them out every single hour—meaning those kids are burning through four or five masks just to get through a school day.

So yeah, maybe just keep it quiet.

People in Sweden don't even know what a mask is, so what's the relevance? My point was about why certain schools are forcing masks onto young kids, which goes directly against the Department's guidelines and recommendations.

The latter category consists of subordinate acts which, true to their nature, are mandatory; they serve to clarify, implement, or provide guidance pursuant to the governing statute.
Now, please, go ahead and suggest that every single individual should have the discretion to decide which specific law, decree, or ruling they feel like following—just based on whatever whim strikes them at the moment. 😵

That is precisely what certain principals are doing, at least regarding the lower grades.

I don't get why everyone is making such a huge deal about masks in schools, but they aren't demanding they be able to walk through hospitals or clinics without them.

Fine then, let's just blame everything on someone. Let's just claim our rights are being violated everywhere we turn.

Elementary School is mandatory under US Law.

Breaking the law and stripping away human rights isn't a joke.

There is no law on the books that can stop a kid from walking into an elementary school without a mask. That means laws are being broken and children's rights to an education are being violated.

This isn't comedy, friend.
It's a gateway to dictatorship.

What I find even more tragic is how certain schools are forcing masks on younger students—kids whom the Department of Education was generous enough to exempt. Yet, parents follow along blindly.

I'm not looking for an argument. ☕

It’s the same at my school. For the first two days of the first week, they required masks in all common areas. When I reached out to the Department of Education to clarify under what conditions elementary students need to wear them, I received this response:

To whom it may concern,

mask-wearing is not required for children in grades 1 through 4.

Sincerely,

Department of Education

I forwarded the email to the principal, and now the masks aren't being enforced. The guidelines and recommendations state that a principal can relax the measures, but nowhere does it say they can make them stricter..

Larry Walker24 said:It's wild how in Canada, kids are wearing masks starting in first grade.

Clearly, Canadians are just a bunch of idiots compared to us. 🤦🤦🤦

By that logic, Swedes are the dumbest of all... But regardless, everyone follows their own agenda. Still, if I expect schools to actually follow the guidelines and recommendations from the Department of Education and the CDC, then I expect them to do so.

It’s honestly pathetic. Am I really supposed to be fighting for justice regarding his education for the third day in a row?

I am going to call the principal tomorrow to find out if this was his decision or the teacher's. I'm genuinely curious.

nimbleranger17 said:Well, looking at these specific guidelines, it technically says they aren't required to—and sure, on paper, that might be the case. But honestly, having spent a good chunk of last school year bouncing from one campus to another, my experience was a bit different. Everywhere I went, the administrators were quite adamant, telling me that their policy actually mandates masks in all the hallways and common areas, not just inside the classrooms. At least, that’s how it played out in practice in every single school I stepped foot in.

Who gave them those instructions?

Alex Roberts4 said:Honestly, grades 1 through 4 shouldn't even be wearing masks. They shouldn't have been required to last year, either.

That’s exactly what I realized. My little one told me his teacher forced some kind of mask onto his face today. It's even more heartbreaking knowing all the other kids had their masks ready too—and they're only in first grade.

I am not finding it in these documents.

Is that referring to grades 1 through 4?

I am genuinely curious to see what the principal has to say tomorrow. I mean, the teacher informs us at the very start of the school year to familiarize ourselves with the recommendations and guidelines posted on the Elementary School website, and then the very next day, they're asking for something that isn't even mentioned there.

I honestly can't tell if I'm losing my mind or if I just don't understand how to read comprehension passages. Based on the guidelines and recommendations provided, it seems like lower grades aren't even supposed to be wearing masks, if I've understood this correctly. I don't get why our local elementary school is being so insistent about masks everywhere except inside the classroom. I'll have to give the school a call tomorrow.
