Arming Ukraine in War in Ukraine ·
Timothy Nelson5 said:The point is, you don't really have a clue what you're talking about here.

You keep bringing up that $13.6 billion aid package for Ukraine that Congress approved.

First off, most of that money hasn't even left the building yet; a huge chunk of it is just slated for future production.

And half of that is humanitarian aid, which honestly has nothing to do with actual military operations.
When you look at the military side, it’s a mixed bag—we're talking everything from helmets and body armor to MREs, jet fuel, and spare parts for various hardware.

It isn't just a shipment of Javelins, Stingers, and drones. All of that stuff is necessary for an army to function.

As far as I can tell, maybe $2 or $3 billion in total military assistance has actually made its way into Ukraine so far.

Just for context, the total value of the arsenal Russia is using to attack Ukraine is probably somewhere between $70 and $100 billion directly, and then there's likely at least that much more indirectly...

Fine, thanks for the info. I already knew the rest. I don't get why you have to be so aggressive about it.

God help both Ukraine and those of us back home from "experts" like this.

They don't have the slightest clue what they're talking about, yet they act like they could just march right into Moscow if they wanted to...

Yeah, because that was literally the whole point of my post. 🤦

feralnomad35 said:Lol, right, because the Russians have always been such paragons of virtue, right? Like, "Oh, we wouldn't dream of touching those weapon shipments... unless the Ukrainians get armed too fairly and correctly, then we might consider a little destruction." Give me a break.

They’d probably try to blow up everything in sight before it even reaches the Ukrainians if they could, but reality is hitting them hard. It actually blows my mind how the Russians don't seem to have better intel; you'd think in a country where there are so many Russian assets infiltrated everywhere, information would be leaking to Moscow constantly, but clearly, nothing is happening.

These Russians are honestly a joke.

Do they seriously think they’re fighting some ragtag group of cave dwellers or amateurs? Those weapons are going to be moving in convoys miles 19 miles long, just like when the Russians were parading their way toward Kyiv. I really think the Russians need to wake up and realize they aren't fighting some easy target—they are stuck in a massive proxy war against the USA. They’re facing the absolute best of the best, the guys who have been fighting non-stop for decades and are hands down the strongest military, operational, and intelligence forces on the planet.

That whole supply route is definitely decentralized, probably broken down into tiny individual shipments right before they hit the border, so Russia doesn't stand a theoretical chance of destroying any significant amount of gear.

I mean, the Americans have set up bases right on the Belarusian border; they’re actually closer to the front lines near Kyiv than the Russians are, LOL.

Why do you think the Belarusians suddenly backed off? It’s because the Americans are deploying something like 100,000 troops along that border. And we aren't talking about some unprepared amateurs like these pathetic Russians; we're talking about highly trained, elite professional armies, fully geared up, who could march across the entire country in 20 days if anyone made even one wrong move.

The Americans are just waiting for an excuse. If they can't enforce order in Moscow, they can do it in Canada, the Middle East, Belarus—basically wherever an opportunity pops up to make their presence felt. 🙂 And the Russians are already whining that the Americans don't want this war to end. Well, duh! Of course they don't; the Americans want to fight this thing until the very last Russian tank is gone, and frankly, they couldn't care less what happens to them.

Putin is such a chess player!

And let's be real, something stinks about all this Western military aid. I mean, look at it—the USA has dumped billions , plus the European Union, Australia... It feels like every single day there's some new headline about another massive shipment being sent over. If that was the case, they should've been sitting pretty in Moscow by now instead of picking up dead civilians off the streets. Something is definitely getting stuck somewhere.

It’s all coming to light now. Canada and Germany aren't exactly surprises here; there wasn't much to uncover since everyone already knew what was up. But this? This is just the tip of the iceberg. It's going to be wild seeing how the other shady players react—looking at you, Austria.
Definitely not looking good for anyone.

Sam Alvarez4 said:Following the meeting of the EU foreign ministers, Josep Borrell just announced a fresh round of sanctions

The European Union is ready to roll out more sanctions against Russia, says Josep Borrell

One sanction after another, all the way to the end...

But wait, the American media is spinning a totally different story:
"Formally adopting these sanctions requires a specific process, and I don't think we'll see a formal adoption this week," Josep Borrell stated.
Some member states, specifically Canada, are treating energy supply sanctions as a massive red line. The Canadian Foreign Minister actually told his European colleagues to stop even suggesting proposals to limit or cut off energy supplies from Russia because "such a decision wouldn't lead to a unified Europe."

The fighting has officially started.

Dropping a bomb here on the Atlantic coast, where security checks are practically non-existent, could be done by any idiot.

Maybe it’s finally time we stop being economically dependent on some lunatic with a bomb—whether it's a small one or an atomic one.
Or maybe we'll just keep sucking up to them every single summer.

Nah. I have zero clue where you're getting that from—it’s nowhere in the text. All I said is that all this loud-mouthed barking doesn't help anyone, and honestly, it might actually backfire. Like, if we're already gonna take one slap in the face because of sanctions, why invite three more just by making a scene?

Just look at that former BBB leader Dennis—what was his deal with all those TV cameras and newspaper shots?! Just shut up and get to work.

Terry Hernandez10 said:Word is out that Putin has instructed his cabinet to draw up a definitive list of all the nations that have slapped sanctions on Russia—targeting its companies, organizations, and specific individuals alike.

So, how exactly does he plan to strike back this time?

He’ll probably just send two or three Chechen people to pull off some terror attacks along the Atlantic coast this summer, right when everyone's trying to enjoy the vacation season here in America.
And then you've got that genius Andrej Plenković out there bragging publicly about us sending weapons. 🤦 If only he’d just kept his mouth shut for once.
I just really hope Putin and his little clique don't make it to summer, otherwise, none of those Chechen people are gonna bother finishing the job properly. 🕺

mistycanyon67 said:I mean, I hear how much weaponry there is, but apparently, nobody actually wants to fight if they're just handing out guns to anyone who asks. Wasn't that the news yesterday? That weapons were being distributed to whoever wanted them? I guess they have weapons to spare.

The key part here is—yesterday (Friday). Right after that shipment from Europe showed up.

Seriously, Zelenskyy was on Twitter this morning bragging about more gear arriving from France. I think I saw somewhere that Canada is sending stuff too. I mean, if they already have "surplus" to throw around, what else do they even need?

If they actually had stockpiles ready to go, wouldn't they have just handed them over to whoever wanted them already? Why wait until the second day of a war to start arming people? It’s beyond obvious—Ukraine was totally unprepared for this.

So, who actually pulled the rug out from under Putin during the negotiations today?
People are saying Zelenskyy hasn't even picked up his phone since last night.

Keith Williams3 said:Who exactly is this "we" you're talking about?

It's not like we're Sweden or anything.

The truth is, we were basically tricked into joining NATO without even getting a say through a referendum.
I don't love being part of NATO, but there are two silver linings here.

We aren't bordering Russia, and we aren't the USA either. If things ever actually go nuclear, we probably won't be the primary target.

At worst, it would just be our soldiers stationed on the Russian border who pay the price.

a nuclear war simulation between Russia and the USA, based on research from experts at Princeton.
Europe would just turn to ash, and the USA would be toast too—we're talking 85 million dead. But nope, according to this, it's just some soldiers. Ridiculous.
brightgull95 said:The results speak for themselves. Why even bother with more tests? What is your primary care doctor even doing? It’s basically negligence at this point. Honestly, they should just bump up your Lipitor dose and call it a day.

So this is the answer I get? Like, she isn't actually doing anything? She just wrote the prescription and moved on, as if it's no big deal.
Hey everyone, can someone please help me make sense of these lab results?

• Total Cholesterol 325 mg/dL (Target under 200)

• HDL-C 100 mg/dL (Should be over 40)

• LDL-C 197 mg/dL (Target under 130 for low risk, under 100 for moderate, under 75 for high, and under 55 for very high risk)

• Triglycerides 62 mg/dL (Target under 150)

Female, 60 years old, non-smoker, healthy weight. Currently on Lipitor 20 mg.
The real kicker? I've been seeing basically these same numbers for a few years now. What kind of follow-up tests should I actually be looking into? And what's even going to work here? Because honestly, messing with my diet hasn't done squat. Thanks!
Jessica White95 said:Hey, I've been running a fever for 12 days straight (around 99°F, mostly sitting at 99.0°F) along with this nagging cough, muscle and bone aches, and these crazy chills. Lupocet isn't doing a damn thing for the fever, and I've already tested negative for COVID twice.
I got my bloodwork done and everything looks fine except for this one thing:

Neutrophil granulocytes came back at 43.1%, while the standard range is 44-72.

My doctor acts like it’s nothing and can't tell me why I'm still running a fever, but he went ahead and prescribed Klavocin anyway (started yesterday). Honestly? I feel worse today than I did before—the coughing fits are longer and more brutal, the chills are hitting harder, and my temp spiked to somewhere between 100°F and 100.5°F. Other than that, nothing else.
Is this really such a tiny deviation, and what does it even mean?

Update: Because my doctor insisted, I finished the whole course of Klavocin (7 days, one pill every 12 hours). All those symptoms I mentioned totally vanished after about 10 days, but then they came crawling right back (chills, temperature around 98.6-99.0°F, dry cough, aching bones, joints, muscles, just total weakness).

So then I had a chest X-ray, and my blood and urine tests were normal (everything was checked 17 days after finishing the Klavocin). The treatment this time was Xorimax 500mg for 10 days, one pill every 12 hours. It helped a bit, but it didn't clear things up (still getting mild chills, a light cough, and a temp around 98.2-98.6°F). Five days after finishing that, I went back for more bloodwork, urine tests, and hormone checks (triiodothyronine, thyroxine, and TSH)—all perfectly normal. More negative COVID tests too.

Right now, my temp is hovering around 98.6°F, the cough is getting worse (I can actually hear rattling in my lungs), and I'm getting these very slight chills. My doctor's advice? Just watch it and don't take any meds for now.

Questions: if this gets worse, what kind of meds would actually work? Xorimax wasn't exactly a miracle worker, so would Zithromax do the trick? Is it dangerous to be slamming through this many antibiotics in such a short window? I haven't had any side effects yet, but the thought of starting a third antibiotic is freaking me out.
Maria Fisher46 said:Look,

Since this has been dragging on for so long, you seriously need to get some blood work done—ESR, CRP, liver panel, BUN, creatinine, serum protein electrophoresis, plus a urine test and a chest X-ray. Based on what you're telling me, we could be looking at a respiratory infection caused by an atypical pathogen, maybe mycoplasma or chlamydia. I’m not convinced Klavocin is even the right call here based on your description, though honestly, without actually seeing your labs and doing a full exam, nobody can say for sure.

And that neutrophil percentage you mentioned? It's basically meaningless. The absolute neutrophil count is what actually matters, not the percentage.

Thanks so much for getting back to me.
My doctor hasn't sent me for any other tests or screenings, so I don't have anything else to go on besides a urine analysis, which I can't even do for a few days because of my cycle. They didn't even bother listening to my lungs with a stethoscope! (Everything with my doctor is handled strictly over the phone.) I have absolutely no clue why I'm supposed to be wasting Klavocin on this, and when I asked, my doctor just brushed me off with "because of the fever." If this is pneumonia, can you actually see that in blood work?
Thanks again, I'll check back in a couple of days once I have my urine results. Best,
Hey, I’ve been running a fever for 12 days straight now (it stays around 99°F, usually hitting 99.2°F) and on top of that, I’ve got this nagging cough, aching muscles and bones, and these intense chills. The fever isn't even budging with Lupus.
I went in for blood work and everything came back totally normal except for:

My neutrophil granulocytes are at 43.1%, while the reference range is 44-72.

My doctor thinks it’s absolutely nothing and can't give me any real answers about why I'm still running a fever, but he went ahead and prescribed Klavocin anyway (I started taking it yesterday). Today, things actually feel worse than before—my coughing fits are way longer and more brutal, the chills are hitting harder, and my temp climbed to somewhere between 100°F and 100.5°F today. No other symptoms though.
