What is apophenia and synchronicity? Let's discuss.

It’s actually starting to get a little creepy. I’ve never been the type to buy into old wives' tales or any of that parapsychology nonsense—I'm a science person through and through—but lately, this has genuinely started to rattle me.
Here is what’s going on:
It’s a bit difficult to put into words, but I’ll give it my best shot.
Have you ever had a problem that’s been weighing on you for days, weeks, or even months? Let me use a mundane example, like a massive Biology final. This exam is huge; it’s the kind of thing that determines whether you pass the year or fail. You’re under immense stress, obsessing over it 24/7... and nobody else knows. No one knows you're struggling or how much prep work you're doing. That part is crucial.
Then, the very next day, you’re grabbing coffee with a friend and, out of nowhere, they mention how much they used to love biology. Later, you’re walking down the street and see a sign for the "American Biological Association" on a building. Then, an ad for "Biological Phenomena" pops up in your Facebook feed. Suddenly, you’re seeing this topic everywhere, even though nobody had mentioned it before.
Is it just a case of heightened focus? Like, because I'm stressed about the subject, my brain is just hyper-tuned to notice anything related to it? I thought that was the answer at first, but this has happened three or four times now with scenarios where the mathematical probability of such a coincidence is incredibly low. I don't think it's just selective attention.
Does this phenomenon have a specific name? Is it some version of the "Law of Attraction" or something similar? Again, I want to emphasize that I am absolutely not someone who gets swept up in paranormal theories, but this is catching me completely off guard.
I hope I'm not derailing the thread here.
Every man scratches where he itches... Human psychology works pretty much the same way.
If you're an electrician, you're going to notice stores selling cables, junction boxes, or shoddy wiring.
If you're a hairstylist, you'll spot a hundred bad haircuts just walking down the street. Last month at a family get-together, a guy spent the whole time inspecting the neighbors' roofs. Well, he's a roofer... so that makes sense.
Basically, once we become experts or focus heavily on a topic, we become hyper-sensitive to it.
That's the logical explanation.
The weaker explanation is when those obsessions become extreme and point toward a psychological issue—usually psychosis.
A good example is people who try to explain everything through a string of numbers (you can see Yubit Sladojev over on Yubitu constantly throwing out numbers that he links back to Bill Gejc).
