Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
Jose Clark2 said:The comparison falls short. No one is blaming Ukraine for its defense; rather, the criticism is aimed at the supporters—the West—who provide just enough weaponry to prolong the conflict indefinitely, knowing full well that Russia won't back down. It essentially extends the duration of the struggle. The real question is: what price are Ukraine's allies willing to pay to save her, or are they simply fighting a proxy war on the backs of Ukrainians? Where does it end, and what is the true measure of balance?

The whole goal here is to weaken Russia so much that they won't have the capacity to launch another conquest for the next 50 years. Look, the Russians started this whole mess with the clear intent of seizing another sovereign nation's territory. Well, they've been backed into a corner now, and they either have to spit out the bitter pill they've been forced to swallow or choke on it.

The West, especially the US, couldn't care less about Russia's well-being. They've pretty much exposed themselves as having zero real global military teeth outside of their nuclear arsenal, which is the only thing that actually poses a threat to the West. I mean, let's be real, in four months the Russians weren't even able to push deep into 62 miles right on their own border!

And honestly, if they decide to go nuclear, they'll be wiped off the face of the earth forever. Just gone. You have to look at where the bulk of the Russian population actually lives and compare that to Europe and the US, considering how spread out our populations are across entire continents.

And you gotta realize that Luhansk, Donetsk, and Crimea are all firmly inside the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine—borders that even Russia acknowledged and legally committed to defending back when the Ukrainians handed over their nuclear weapons!

It’s basically that old "you're either mine or you're nobody's" logic, right?

Exactly!

I seriously don't get the people out there trying to justify Russia and Putin during this invasion.

It is literally like someone telling their neighbors, "Hey, nobody is allowed to touch my girlfriend or I'll take it as an insult." Then the neighbor actually finds a guy, and suddenly this aggressor starts beating her every single day and threatening her new boyfriend with a gun.

And then you have these other neighbors stepping in to defend him, saying, "Well, he did warn us what would happen if anyone messed with his girl." I just cannot wrap my head around it—people supporting this pure aggression and making excuses because Putin said Ukraine isn't allowed in NATO, as if he's some kind of overlord who gets to decide their entire fate.

"At the June 2021 Brussels summit, NATO leaders reiterated the decision taken at the 2008 Bucharest summit that Ukraine would become a member of the Alliance with the NATO MAP as an integral part of the process and Ukraine's right to determine its own future and foreign policy course without outside interference."

So, look—ever since NATO Bucharest 2008, when Putin was also around, he’s been incredibly blunt about not allowing Ukraine into NATO because he views it as an act of aggression against Russia. This isn't news; people have known this for fifteen years now. Yet, here we are, seeing the exact same agenda being pushed just like it was back in 2008. It's baffling. Either they are being willfully ignorant, or they simply didn't believe Putin, even though he was crystal clear. Honestly, if you ask them, I don't think even they actually know why they're pushing so hard to get Ukraine into NATO in the first place.

Man, that's like showing up to a homeowners association meeting and telling everyone that if anyone even *thinks* about hooking up with your neighbor, you're going to take it as a personal insult—and then when someone actually does go home with her, you go over there and break her teeth just because you felt disrespected.

It feels as though there’s a silent consensus among the nuclear powers to avoid the brinkmanship of atomic weapons and simply go all out with conventional force instead.

You really think Russia would actually stick to some "no nukes" agreement if NATO jumped into the fray and started absolutely flattening them in Ukraine?

Everyone lies, but nobody does it quite like the Russians or the Mexicans. They take it to such an extreme level that they actually start believing their own nonsense! 😁
I mean, look, it's obvious everyone's lying, but the Russians push it way past the limit and they do it so blatantly it's almost laughable.

If you’re actually following this whole war between Ukraine and Russia, you seriously need to watch this:

There's this Finnish Intelligence Colonel who has spent his entire life studying Russia—their mindset, how they operate, all of it—and he's laying it all out in this video.

The video is in Finnish, so just make sure to hit the CC button for subtitles, but man, it is absolutely worth your time.

Honestly, it kind of blew my mind because I’ve talked to Russians online before and always figured we were basically on the same page as Europeans, you know? Like, we share the same core values and think along similar lines. Turns out, that’s just not true at all. The way they process things and act... it's just completely different from us. They’re foreign to us, having a totally different mindset, almost like how we view the Chinese, but everyone expects that level of difference with China. This was a massive wake-up call for me, and suddenly a lot of things are clicking into place—from their behavior in this current war to some other weird interactions I've had with Russians in the past.

He explains it perfectly: in the Russian mentality, lying is perfectly acceptable as long as you're doing it for the sake of your group, and if you do, you don't lose any respect within that circle. Just look at what Lavrov was doing right when the war kicked off. You could even draw some parallels to our neighbors over in the North America... because it feels like they live in their own parallel reality sometimes. And even in this conflict, they seem much more aligned with Russia and their specific values than with the West.

This "special military operation" stuff? Honestly, it feels like we're watching WWII all over again.

The Ukrainians are getting a fresh shipment, and most importantly, they're getting artillery right where the Russians currently have the upper hand:

Just a heads up, that video I linked above comes from a pro-Russian channel. I actually enjoy diving into propaganda from both sides just to try and wrap my head around what’s really going on.
