Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·

Russia is basically demanding that certain banks get let back into SWIFT, or else they’re threatening to scrap those grain export deals entirely.

But here's the thing... wait a second... I thought CIPS and SPFS were supposed to be the big "SWIFT replacements"... so what exactly is BRICS actually doing? 🕺

🤣Total joke. They were all talking big last year about how they didn't need SWIFT and would just build their own, now their BRICS thing is basically on shaky ground...

They're gonna be starving right next to all that wheat and mineral wealth pretty soon...🙂 I saw some news saying their airlines are going under because they can't get spare parts.🐔

🙂Prices are gonna tank even more. Russians will be praying anyone buys their stuff at those capped prices the European Union set, especially since China and India are already scoring 30% discounts. They're gonna be broke as can be.🤣🤣

One would expect half a million women to take to the streets in protest. They cannot be sent to the front lines, yet this has become a reckless gamble with the fate of all humanity. This nation is dancing on the edge of a massive abyss.

In that arena, some 500 people are shouting "Russia" at the top of their lungs while their military makes a complete mockery of itself. What exactly is their objective, and where do they intend to stop?

☕they're already stopped, now it's just pushing them back to where they started...

as for the madness, 🎉

"The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, just went on record saying that international politicians really ought to sit down and actually read through President Vladimir Putin's speech from that ceremony where they added those four new territories to the country. He was dropping this during an interview with the Star TV network.

According to the minister, you basically can't just brush off what the head of state had to say.

“We’ve already instructed all our ambassadors stationed abroad to get this out there everywhere—distribute it as official documentation for the UN, the OSCE, and all those other international organizations. And honestly, I’m just hoping that any serious politician out there takes the time to read it from start to finish,” the diplomat remarked.

He emphasized that once the Russian leader finishes speaking, "if anyone still doesn't get the point, then things should become absolutely crystal clear."

🙂Honestly, I don't get it. When are these guys gonna realize the rest of the world doesn't care what they say because everyone knows they're lying...😒

🤣Like, 500,000 young people have fled across the border in just the last week🎉and these guys are still spouting nonsense from some underground bunker in Soča...🕺

I'd love to know when they last actually stepped out onto the streets of Moscow to walk around and talk to real people...🤣

While places like San Francisco or Columbus deal with companies going under and people still waiting on gas delivery solutions because SoCalGas hasn't even leased the necessary capacity. I don't understand why there's such a drive to exaggerate everything here, as if anyone posting on this forum who isn't pushing some idealized narrative is somehow undermining Ukrainians in their fight on the front lines. We should be able to have a normal discussion here without all the hyperbole.
Fine, we'll shut down the fertilizer plants, but we'll face the consequences of losing domestic production. There's no point in hiding that.

☕Pretty sure there was an article on CNN today about them closing the borders to stop people from fleeing on 09/28/2022 and setting up checkpoints near Georgia for recruitment. If you escaped, you escaped. Now it's this current mobilization and straight into the war...🙂

they should be up for a Nobel Prize. Seriously. You get a whole minute of pure nonsense packed into one tiny window...🤦 just endless, brainless propaganda about the Mexican and Russian worlds being tossed at the public...🤣

Antikapitalist said:Total financial illiteracy again. Seriously, people don't have a clue how even the basic banking system works.

People keep spinning these wild fantasies about Russia going bankrupt... they love that narrative, but honestly? The reality on the ground is the exact opposite.

They don't even need foreign reserves since they aren't tied to the dollar or the euro. Plus, they don't need outside loans—their own banking system handles all the financing.

The only real hit Russia is taking is that they can't buy American or European goods and services directly anymore. Everything else is business as usual—they’re still trading just fine with the rest of the world.

☕Look, I don't know how much you guys actually know about money... or if you're totally clueless.

But based on what you just said, 🙂Gotta hit the books again. Seriously. 🤣

Russia's economy is a total mess right now. Inflation is through the roof and they're basically propping up the ruble artificially—its real value is probably 50-60% lower than what you see on paper.

Don't even get me started on how those sanctions and trade bans with their biggest partners were already hitting the EU and the West hard before the war even kicked off...

They’re so cut off from everyone else that they're practically begging China and India to take their oil and gas at a 40% discount just to get some cash flowing.
🕺I reckon their roses have totally wilted. They aren't blooming again for at least another 50 years, minimum.

I suspect he is much like his military—formidable on paper and perhaps against much weaker adversaries, but in reality, it's an entirely different story....

☕man, some of these shakeups have been going on for months already. like, 13 bank execs and big shots from companies like ExxonMobil are already dead. some "accidentally" killed their families then themselves, others took a sudden dive from an 8th-story window, fell off yachts, or just dropped dead after a cup of coffee...

all these high-level people, and who knows which faction they belong to 🙂but they sure have a weird habit of falling from crazy heights...

This is a war over resources. That Russian excuse about wanting a buffer zone between NATO and the Russian Federation is nonsense. Just look at the map. Why aren't the Russians making an effort to seize territory along the eastern and northeastern borders? Like around Sumy, for example.
The most valuable things Ukraine possesses are the oil and gas deposits in the Black Sea (allegedly a bit less than what Norway has) and the mineral wealth in the Donbas mines. Basically, exactly what the Russians have already seized and are currently holding.
Nobody cares about sunflower fields—not one side or the other. You really think ExxonMobil or Chevron is going to come knocking for concessions on sunflower patches? Americans and Englishmen have burned through a few dozen billion dollars so far. What's that compared to hundreds or thousands of billions in oil and gas? Nothing. The Russians know it too. If they let the Americans and the European Union take those deposits, they can kiss their gas sales to Europe goodbye. There isn't a theoretical chance the Americans and Englishmen will just let Russia annex everything they're holding right now. It means they've raised the stakes and they aren't folding now that they have much stronger hands. They'll keep raising the ante until the Russians fold and try to negotiate a peace treaty just to salvage something. Just look at the weapons being sent to the Ukrainians. About twenty HIMARS batteries changed the entire battlefield. Now imagine if they send three times that amount plus ATACMS missiles. It's not like they don't have them. Anyone who plays poker knows you raise the stakes when you're holding a winning hand...
So... watching how this ends will be interesting. The stakes have been bumped up for now, but there's plenty of room to go higher. Whoever's bluffing is the one who's going to lose.
My take is that the Russians lost this war the moment they sent that first soldier into Ukraine. Putin didn't just bite the bait; he swallowed the whole bucket, and he realized that on the second day of the invasion. But hey, no turning back now...
The Chinese are staying quiet and wise. India is doing the same. Iran sent drones, and in return, they got a partial revolution in the form of women's rights protests. I doubt they'll be sending many more drones. Americans don't make threats; only the person with the weaker hand does that.
Putin might be a decent chess player, but he's a lousy poker player. And this is a game of poker, not chess.

Nothing new here, everyone knew it was about resources back in 2008, 2010, and 2014...

Only someone completely delusional would think this war in Ukraine is about Nazism—that's just talk from idiots in Mexico and Russia, or their relatives working in the intelligence community...🙂Now they've basically got an Iron Curtain around Russia's borders, plus an extra 808 miles NATO border in Finland☕ for good measure...🤣

I can't help but recall that one American senator quoting at the start of the invasion: "Putin has just made the mistake of his career."
It was an incredibly stupid move, not to mention a criminal one. I get the impression he was looking at some catastrophically wrong intel and assessments. When you consider that the CIA practically knew the exact day the invasion would kick off, suggesting leaks are everywhere... yeah, that explains it.

☕ he’s just a regular guy who 🤣 desperately needs medical attention🤣

That's what happens when you start acting like some kind of emperor, ruler, conqueror, or whatever other nonsense... buying a 700 million euro yacht and all that stuff... the sick guy lost the war, and now he's gonna wreck his own country too. Since everyone's talking about it on news sites, YouTube, and political shows—he's gonna get taken out by Russians. That's why he's terrified to call for general mobilization, because people will get weapons and turn them right back against his regime....

🙂And history tells us one thing—every ruler who lost a war ended up dead...🕺

goldenowl73 said:I honestly feel like a lot of people still don't quite wrap their heads around what's actually happening here; this whole thing is basically a fresh wave of colonial conquest by an empire that never truly dealt with its own colonial past. It feels like Putin is just living out that old logic famously attributed to Catherine the Great:
"The only way to defend my borders is to expand them."

“I have no way to defend my borders but to extend them.”

― Catherine the Great

Look at the pattern—they didn't stop at Transnistria, they didn't stop in Ossetia or Abkhazia, and they certainly didn't stop in Crimea, the Donbas, or the Kherson Oblast. Anyone who thinks they’re going to be satisfied once they grab all of Ukraine is seriously kidding themselves. As long as that mindset is festering inside The Kremlin and being pushed by guys like Dugin, this situation is just going to keep spreading like a tumor.

🕺Honestly, I think they totally blew it with the invasion of Ukraine. In their desperate rush to rebuild the Russian empire, they should've just flipped the script to--
🙂the only way to protect our borders is to pull back and stay out of our neighbors' business, otherwise we might lose everything we have left...

😵😵😵 what absolute idiots...

These morons don't even get it yet. By invading Ukraine, they basically built themselves an iron curtain right on the border that's gonna stay there for at least the next 100 years. They’re gonna get kicked out of Ukrainian territory, period. Plus, those sanctions? They're gonna absolutely wreck their economy and lifestyle for years to come...

🙂I was reading this in the news yesterday, can't remember if it was the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal...

Foreign companies in Russia make up about 12% of the workforce.
The fallout from them leaving is huge—economic activity is tanking, and we're talking over a thousand companies that account for roughly 40% of the Russian GDP.
