That X coffee was plenty enough, toothless.

Exactly. This country needs a new Hemingway to write something along the lines of *The Sun Also Rises*—something that captures the hypocrisy and small-mindedness of everyone involved.

That sounds excellent.

If you want someone to worry about, look at the Russians. They're sliding straight into total totalitarianism and an absolute economic meltdown.

I wish I could agree, but full storage tanks don't guarantee security. It might only mean having enough supply for a single month.

Based on these videos, I would estimate that roughly 30 to 40 percent of those mobilized require nothing more than heavy liquor to handle the logistics.

Do you think Western nations should start their own mobilization efforts just to mess with their heads? Like, purely as a psychological move? I'm thinking it might scare them enough to make them back off instead of actually committing to a real draft.

By "Western nations," I mean everyone—every single country in the EU, the US, all of us.

That seems unlikely unless things escalate. If Putin has made up his mind, he will act. If we simply bluff, we only weaken our own position.

We need a smart strategy now. Perhaps finally establishing a no-fly zone.

Now, either Western intelligence is just as much of a joke—remember when they claimed Russia would be hitting Berlin in five days if they moved?—or they’re lying to us on purpose. The same logic applies to the Cold War; I highly doubt the Soviet military back then was any better than this current mess.

I believe the USSR would have taken the European portion of NATO. It was simply a country twice the size of modern-day Russia, possessed similar weaponry, and had the Warsaw Pact behind it.

edit: Of course, the West had a functional military back then, not a force where 60% are unfit for duty, and the Americans were ready to step up.

I get the impression it would have been a pathetic situation, though I suspect the new line would have been drawn in Belgium rather than Poland. I am exaggerating slightly.

If they were to deploy a nuclear weapon, they would instantly lose any global propaganda advantage by drawing comparisons to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It would essentially be an admission that they cannot secure Eastern Ukraine without resorting to nuclear force. They already intend to occupy those territories, but if radiation from strikes on Kyiv or Lviv were to drift into Poland, things would escalate quickly. The real question is whether that triggers Article 5.
They would likely only use a nuclear weapon in response to an Allied attack on Russia, rather than just occasional Ukrainian shelling. That’s my take.

"The leader of the Chechen Republic of Ramzan Kadyrov dropped a bombshell in a video posted to his Telegram channel, basically calling himself a 'long-timer' among the heads of the various states within the Russian Federation.

He pointed out that he’s been running the show in that region for fifteen years now.

“I guess my time is up before they kick me out. <…> We've actually already started talking about it,” Kadyrov said.

In the video description, he went on to say that he’s "personally realized I've been sitting in this seat for way too long." The Chechen leader also made sure to mention that, in his own opinion, he’s "certainly earned an indefinite and much-needed break."

Not too long ago, Kadyrov was rambling about his dream of visiting the United Kingdom—a dream he says he’s been "nurturing" for quite some time.
