Adjusting to a new city and a fresh start

About a year ago, I moved from California to Washington, D.C. Found a better job, met my fiancée, sorted out housing—on paper, everything is perfect. I’ve finally found my footing.
The catch is, I grew up living with my family. I wasn't independent. Moving here forced me to actually grow up; I'm learning how to cook, clean, and manage an apartment like an adult. It’s been a process.
But the nostalgia hits hard. Sometimes I just miss the mindset back home, the local accent, and obviously, my parents. I fly back to visit every couple of months, and coming back to this grind always makes the feeling worse until I settle back into the routine.
I find myself questioning things. Am I truly happy being in a different part of the country? Even with the perfect career and a partner I want to build a life with, it's complicated. Is it normal to feel this ache for the coast, the sun, my old house, and having my parents nearby?
Once we get married and move in together, will this longing for my parents and home fade, or is this just how it is now?
