I don't trust anyone anymore... in Psychology ·
Bryan Martinez2 said:People lie constantly, and honestly, I don't think it’s surprising that we’ve become such an analytical society. We’re essentially conditioned to be deceived from the moment we're born. It’s exhausting, really—watching people who are clearly struggling through a miserable existence pretend to everyone else that they’ve never been better. As for this whole idea of being brutally honest and telling it exactly like it is? Sure, you'll lose a lot of friends because of it, but that’s simply because most people can't handle the truth. I can't tell you how many times someone has looked me in the eye and said, "If you have something to say about me, don't talk behind my back, say it to my face." Guess what happened when I actually did.

Why does it even matter if they're lying about being happy? If they're lying, they're mostly lying to themselves. Don't exhaust yourself worrying about the fake happiness of others. Focus on your own life. Just remember: the true measure of happiness isn't what you possess, but what you actually desire.

I honestly don't see any point in having an ignore list at all.

I’m the one who started this thread. Just because I add someone to my ignore list doesn't mean they can't post here. I can just ignore them without adding them to a list. Honestly, I don't see the point or any benefit to an option like that.
Is there a way for me to actually prevent someone from commenting on a thread I created?

Brenda Davis said:Dear moderators. I’ve been penalized twice now. Honestly, it’s just because I’m not as tech-savvy as the younger crowd—something a lot of us older folks deal with. There is one specific topic I really wanted to get the community's take on. I ended up posting the same thread four different times because I was trying to make edits, but on this site, those edits show up as entirely new posts. That’s why I got flagged. On Facebook, you can just go back and fix an original post, but here, my attempts to edit triggered new threads, which apparently violates the rules. Out of those four posts, two were deleted and two were locked. Since I can't use the old ones, I have a question: Now that my penalty has expired, am I allowed to start the original thread again? I promise I won't make any more edits that might cause duplicate threads or lead to more penalties.

I was actually expecting a response from a moderator. If this were about a violation, I would have already been sanctioned. I suppose I might even get flagged just for making this inquiry.

I have a serious bone to pick with how the moderators are running things here. It feels like we’re operating under a kangaroo court where penalties are handed out without any actual reasoning. In a civilized society, when a judge hands down a sentence, they are obligated to cite the specific statute that was violated. I actually had the experience of being penalized without a single explanation. When I asked for clarification on which rule I supposedly broke, the response I got was straight out of a mob rule playbook: "You didn't follow the law." That kind of arbitrary behavior is nothing short of barbaric and pure chaos.

Dear moderators, I’m reaching out because I’ve been penalized twice now. To be honest, it comes down to my lack of tech-savviness, which is a pretty common hurdle for those of us in the older generation here in America. I have just one specific issue I wanted to get the community's take on. In my attempt to refine my thoughts, I ended up posting the exact same topic four separate times, as each edit I tried to make was logged here as an entirely new post. That’s why I was flagged. On platforms like Facebook, you can simply go back and edit an existing thread, but here, any attempt to change something creates a duplicate, which apparently violates the rules. Out of those four posts, two were deleted and two were locked. This means I can't use my original threads at all. Now that my penalty has expired, am I allowed to reopen the original topic? I promise I won't repeat this mistake; I won't try to make any more edits so I don't end up duplicating topics and triggering more penalties.
