Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Lisa Adams5 said:So, here’s my current situation; I just started on Yasmin, specifically starting on day one of my period. I managed to get through five pills before deciding to stop. My doctor actually wrote me a prescription for Logest instead, and rather than waiting out that standard seven-day break everyone talks about, they advised me to jump straight onto the new pack on the very first day of my cycle. The logic was to avoid throwing my already chaotic hormones into even greater disarray from the initial switch. So, as it stands, I’ve transitioned over to Logest.

Just to add a bit more context to that; my period actually showed up five days after I quit the Yasmin.

I was taking my second pack of Yasmin, but I stopped after the eighth pill... so, will I get my period in the next few days since I quit, or will it follow the usual pattern 28 days after my last period started?? ☕

About three years back, I was on Diane—total nightmare—but my doctor finally sorted it out. Still, even now, sex just doesn't feel the same, whether I'm using protection or not. It's frustrating.
I haven't touched them in almost two years—tried telling myself I could hold out while my body reset from all those hormones—thinking I'd eventually switch to something "lighter." In the meantime, condoms have been my only constant companion. Ugh.

Then, about ten months ago, I thought, "Okay, let's try pills again," and went with Yasmin—which turned out to be a massive mistake. My blood pressure went haywire, my thyroid started acting up, and my hair? Dropping out in clumps. Plus, the constant dizziness, diarrhea, and nausea... I honestly felt like I was pregnant. I spent months thinking something was wrong before I realized it was the damn pills. Now, I'm totally off them.

Has anyone else gone through this? Did you actually find a pill that works without wrecking your life? I know doctors say they can pick the right one based on blood work, but I can't help feeling like when a specific brand becomes "trendy," everyone just starts prescribing it like candy...

I actually just started taking Yasmin myself. Looking at this thread, it seems like everyone is complaining about it—it reminds me of all that drama involving the Australian diaries.😕
When exactly did those symptoms hit you? Was it right away in the first month, or did they develop after you'd been on it for a while?
My doctor prescribed Yasmin to me without any preliminary testing either, though he did monitor me closely through an entire pregnancy, so he's at least familiar with my blood work.🤷

Now I'm left wondering about the actual reasoning behind it; why exactly is smoking off-limits when you're using oral contraceptives?

Quoting myself. lol 😁

Does nobody actually know the link between smoking and birth control pills??
