Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
shadowcyclist said:My ovaries are absolutely killing me right now! It’s already been 39 days since I stopped taking Yasmin 5 months and still nothing... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

My doctor actually walked me through this in a way that made total sense.
Basically, while you're on the pill, your ovaries are essentially just sitting idle. They aren't really "working" in the traditional sense. Because of that, they need a little bit of time to wake back up and get back into the groove.
It could happen in a day, a few days, a week, or even take up to a full month before things start moving again. Once they kick back into gear, that's when your cycle finally kicks off. 🙂
So, having a delay of up to four weeks isn't necessarily a cause for alarm—it can be totally normal!

And honestly, those ovary pains? That's pretty standard too.
I dealt with some pretty intense cramping myself after I quit the pill. (In my case, my period was about a week late)

I totally get that there’s a huge chance things are just delayed while my body gets back into its groove, but honestly, I’ve been feeling all those pre-period symptoms for a day and a half now! It feels like it could happen any second, yet nothing. Should I go ahead and take a pregnancy test, or just hang tight for a few more days?

I went through the exact same thing! 🙂
About 10 days before it actually arrived, I was feeling every single symptom like it was right around the corner. Every single time.
And then, finally, it showed up on day 34.

Christian Hughes said:There are so many questions being asked here and hardly any answers! I’ve got plenty of questions myself. So far, my cycle has been totally unpredictable. I’ve been trying to get pregnant, but everything seems to be going sideways. I haven't seen a positive test in months, and instead of getting that "pregnancy glow," I feel like I'm just putting on weight! Is there anyone out there who can help me solve this mystery?

Go see an OB-GYN.
Antibiotic allergies in Health ·
Hey everyone!
I wanted to start a thread about a problem that’s been weighing on me for quite a while now, and I’m curious to see if any of you are dealing with something similar. It all comes down to allergies—specifically, my issues with penicillin.
Has anyone else here experienced allergic reactions to other antibiotic groups besides penicillin? Specifically, I’m talking about Zithromax and Keflex.

To give you some background, I’ve been struggling with penicillin since I was a little kid. It actually took a long time for us to figure out that was the exact culprit.
Back then, I would deal with everything from massive blisters and trouble breathing to full-on anaphylactic shock.
On top of that, I frequently run into these smaller, nagging allergic reactions, though I can never pinpoint exactly what triggers them.
Just last year, I had a bad reaction to Zithromax, and then this past summer, Keflex did the same thing to me.
Now, whenever I come down with strep throat or a nasty flu, my doctor is basically at a loss for what to prescribe. 😢

I’d love to hear about your experiences and how you navigate this. 🙂

Whenever I played Diana, I always seemed to land on that sixth day of downtime.
I really think it’s going to happen for you! 🙂

For me, my period has always shown up right on the sixth day of the break, 🙂
so I honestly think it should be arriving any moment now.

Of course, if it doesn't arrive by the time you're supposed to start your medication, don't just go ahead and take it—give your doctor a call first!

I’m actually feeling totally fine right now, mostly because I haven't even started this whole "artificial" period cycle yet.
We'll just have to wait and see how things shake out once it actually hits...

Yeah, I actually stopped taking Diana just a few days ago myself. My doctor mentioned that my cycle might be late by as much as three weeks while my ovaries get back into their normal rhythm.

Wait, isn't Dimidril actually a banned tablet?

You really ought to take a close look at how it interacts with other medications in the instruction manual.
My sister has been using the Mirena ring for about six months now, and she is absolutely loving it. At least, that’s what she tells me! 😁
She hasn't dealt with any side effects at all, and honestly, the protection level is only a tiny fraction lower than what you get with standard birth control pills—we actually sat down and did a little math on it 😁.

I’m seriously considering making the switch myself just so I don't have to deal with these nasty, heavy hormones I'm currently on... 😢
