Hitting up my OBGYN this Monday to get some pills sorted because my cycle is totally all over the place. A few years back, I was on Diane-35 for about nine months. Honestly? It was a total nightmare 😁. My appetite went through the roof, I packed on 7 pounds, felt super bloated, had mood swings, and even dealt with cellulite... the only win was that my skin cleared up. Not even sure why I was prescribed them since I don't have PCOS, just the irregular periods
. Once I quit, things normalized a bit, but my cycles were still weird—sometimes 28 days, sometimes 35
. But for the last six months, everything’s gone downhill again. I haven't had a period in two months, yet I feel like I'm constantly in PMS mode. My skin breaks out like crazy right before my period starts, and now I've been dealing with breakouts for a month straight. Went to an esthetician to get it cleaned up, but within a week, it was right back to where it started. Definitely an inside job 🙂.
So, here's the thing: my doctor loves pushing Diane-35, but I am so over it. I wanted to go in with some suggestions of my own. Did a little digging and saw Yaz uses drospirenone, which is supposed to help prevent weight gain 😁. Also looking at Novynette since it's lower hormone, or maybe Logest (though apparently that doesn't help the skin much 😁).
If you guys have any advice on what I should suggest to him, let me know. I know everyone reacts differently, but I gotta try something else 😁.
I’ve been on Logest for a long time now and my skin has been awesome. Sure, things get a little rough right before my period, but hey, that's just life, right? I haven't gained any weight at all—honestly, I feel like these pills actually help me stay toned 🤣. The only downside I’ve noticed is that I ended up with more stretch marks on my hips. Thankfully, my breasts didn't blow up on me while on Logest, but back when I was on that Diane stuff before switching, they definitely grew by a good amount 😁

that’s really all you need to do.
😁
Anyway, I’m heading out now, so hopefully everything turns out fine... It honestly feels surreal that after being on the pill for six straight years, I’m actually pregnant 😕 I think I'll just let this period pass naturally and see how it goes, then when my next cycle hits, if it's as crappy as this one, I'll definitely go see my doctor.
Hey ladies! So, I’ve been on Logest for about four years now and everything’s been totally fine, though before switching to this, I was taking Diane 35 to deal with my PCOS. I follow the usual routine—take the Logest for 21 days, then wait four days, and my period usually shows up around day 25. It’s always been pretty predictable, but I noticed things getting a little weird lately. Last month, my period hit on day 25 (it was a Sunday afternoon, even though it usually hits earlier on Sunday mornings), and it seemed totally normal, lasting maybe 4 or 5 days. But this past week, I was expecting my period to start, and it didn't show up until late Sunday night/early Monday morning. On Monday, the bleeding was actually kind of heavy, then yesterday it was just regular, but this morning? Nothing. Zilch. Just some tiny traces. As far as sex goes, my boyfriend and I last hooked up in mid-August—basically twice every two weeks—and I had my normal August period right after. We haven't done anything in three weeks. I’m just spiraling a bit because my period came later than usual and it feels like it's already over. I really doubt I'm pregnant, but honestly, I don't know... I’m supposed to start a new pack of Logest tomorrow. I’m stuck in this loop of: should I go grab a pregnancy test, call my doctor, or just sit here and stress? What do you guys think I should do? 😁

Honestly, I am on the verge of a total meltdown—nobody here seems able to answer two simple questions, and the people working in the healthcare system are so incredibly rude it’s actually terrifying. I only show up once every five years, and they can't even spare five minutes for me.
I'm not even sure if this is the right thread, but I'm hoping someone can help me out. 😢
So, my private gynecologist prescribed Yaz, but before that, obviously, I have to undergo about a hundred different tests. She gave me a list of everything required and sent me back to my primary care doctor to get the referrals.
When I got there, the nurse snapped at me—like, genuinely lost her cool—asking what I was even doing there and telling me to just go to my own gynecologist for that stuff. When I explained I use a private specialist, she basically told me to find an insurance-based doctor instead and slammed the door in my face. She even muttered something about how those things are usually handled over at the county clinic.
Now I'm just completely lost. 🙂
Does anyone know if I can actually get these tests done privately, just so I don't have to deal with these obnoxious, incompetent old ladies? And roughly how much does it cost? People keep quoting these insane numbers at me.
Also, what is the actual process for finding an insurance-covered gynecologist? Where do I even go, and what am I supposed to do? I'm seriously desperate—if these private tests are way too expensive and the wait times for the state doctors are months long, I am absolutely screwed...
Thanks in advance!
I looked for my own gyno once for four different swabs, and I ended up going to the Johns Hopkins clinic. My doctor is part of the public system, so to speak. I didn't have to pay anything for the tests because thank God I have supplemental insurance, since those swabs really add up. I don't know the exact price, though, because that was ages ago. As for going private, I wouldn't know how that works. I used to see a private gynecologist myself, but I switched to my mom's doctor mostly because of the costs. My mom's doctor only took me on as an exception because my mom is a patient and she handled both my sister's and my pregnancies. Normally, she won't take on any new patients at all. A friend of mine asked for a public gynecologist a year or two ago and the only guy she could find was somewhere near downtown. Nobody else would take her. Maybe try Googling a bit or check this forum to see where there are openings in the public clinics. Good luck! 🙂
So, I was on Diana 35 for two years because of PCOS, and honestly, you wouldn't believe how much it absolutely nukes your mood, your positivity, your optimism—all of it. I felt like a totally reborn version of myself 😁 and even Ginn mentioned that depressive episodes were a possibility, though I didn't experience any of that personally. My breasts actually grew a whole cup size 😳 but I eventually just got used to them 😛. I finally quit those because of some yeast infection issues, and I’m still convinced back then it was all thanks to the Diana because those pills are seriously intense. I switched over to Yasmin, which cleared up the infections, but then my head started spinning, I had heart palpitations, and my left arm would ache. I stayed on them for a few months before going back to Diana, only to deal with the yeast stuff all over again, and finally, I made the jump to Logest. I've been on it since last summer and I am so incredibly happy with it. My breast size hasn't changed at all, which was the biggest thing for me. My periods aren't nearly as painful as they used to be, and honestly, the pills actually help me maintain my weight so I don't bloat or gain anything. They aren't quite as heavy on my mental state as Diana was, which I definitely notice. I haven't changed as a person, but man, I can't even describe how much that sense of positivity just... dipped when I stopped taking Diana. You could really feel the difference. Now, I still get those normal pre-period moments where I just want to burst into tears over absolutely nothing. Like, if you even look at me the wrong way, I'm done. I get super hungry during those days, my face breaks out, and yeah, it's just one of those things. All in all, though, I'm super satisfied with Logest. As for feeling depressed during those times, hmm. I wouldn't say I get depressed, but I do get these weird, weepy, moody moods that pop up. It's annoying as hell, but hey, what can you do 😉

So, just checking back in like you asked😉 I finally got hold of Diane again😁 😁She said she’ll give them to me even though my PCOS is cleared up, but I still need to get Vitamin C and AT III checked. (Honestly, I have zero clue what that last one even is), apparently it's some lab test that costs about $100. She mentioned doing it just to make sure there's no thrombosis or anything sketchy going on. I haven't decided if I'm hitting the lab this week or next, and man, I'm really hoping the results aren't a disaster... plus, this damn headache just won't quit.😢

Thanks🙂
And yeah, I'm really hoping for the best too. My headache finally quit on me (probably just because of the time, honestly) after I managed to grab a little nap.😍
Brenda Fisher86 said:I’m honestly having a hard time wrapping my head around your symptoms.... are you absolutely certain that Yasmin is actually the culprit here? And did you happen to run any tests before you started taking that specific medication? I was on Yasmin myself until just recently, and everything seemed perfectly fine on my end, though I made sure to stay on top of all my routine 🤷
Anyway, regardless of the cause, it’s definitely a smart move to go see a gynecologist
edit: and please, don't just stop taking them out of the blue, because you really don't want to throw your body for a loop; you should probably wait for your doctor to walk you through the best way to taper off...(I learned that lesson the hard way once myself)
Oh, I'm positive the pill has something to do with it... Obviously, I've had blood work done and I'm healthy (well, I was, unless the pill decided to mess with my internal wiring☕). Look, we aren't all built the same; what works for you might be absolute poison for me, for crying out loud🙂. I'm heading to her office tomorrow and I'm really hoping she'll just put me back on my old prescription. My heart stopped doing those weird little palpitations once I quit, but now I'm getting these random headaches here and there😕—and I almost never get headaches, seriously, they're super rare for me
.
Nathan Gomez8 said:Your gynecologist cannot refer you for further cardiac screenings. You should investigate why this occurred, as you might easily find yourself returning to birth control pills. If you have any underlying heart issues, you really shouldn't be taking them. Best of luck 🙂
Ugh, honestly, I'm just gonna head back to my OB-GYN and lay it all out for her... I've never had a single issue with my heart before, so I'm totally convinced this whole mess is just because of that stupid Yasmin pill!!! My left arm was aching and my head has been pounding all day long 😢so I'm definitely demanding my old Diane back😍😍since it worked perfectly for me and everyone else too... I'm not even considering anything new, because I am absolutely not playing "pill tester" with my health😂 Thanks for the reply😉
Nathan Gomez8 said:Stop taking those pills immediately and go see a doctor.
So, like, should I be hitting up my OB-GYN or just stick with my regular GP?
Alright ladies, I’ve got a question for you all...
So, I’ve been on the Yasmin pill for almost two months now, and honestly, everything has been pretty smooth sailing—zero side effects so far, which feels like a win 😁. But then, last Friday, my heart started doing this intense "stabbing" thing, and let me tell you, the pain was absolutely brutal. It felt like I couldn't even catch my breath, and then after maybe a minute or two, it would just vanish and I’d be totally fine again. The weird part is, the exact same thing happened on Tuesday, Wednesday, and again last night. It hit me so hard I could barely even move 😢. Now, I realize hearts don't actually "stab" people in medical terms, but that’s really the only way I can describe the sensation. It’s like this crushing pressure right around my heart and then—bam—it's over. Do you think this could actually be linked to the Yasmin, or is it just my body reacting to stress? I remember having something similar once back when I was totally losing my mind from stress, but I wasn't even on the pill back then...
Jeffrey Walker3 here, just staring at this screen again like it’s actually going to give me some kind of answers, though we all know it’s mostly just a digital void where hopes go to die. Honestly, sometimes I feel like I’m just shouting into a hurricane, hoping someone catches a single syllable before it gets swallowed up by the chaos of everything else happening out there. But whatever, I guess that's just how it goes, right? Just another day of navigating the mess. kaže:
Ugh, honestly, thank God I stumbled upon this thread, because looking at all this just reminded me that I completely blanked on taking my pill yesterday. Seriously, my brain is basically just a sieve at this point. 🤦 Well, look at that—the night just refuses to end, and honestly, I’m not even mad about it. We were supposed to wrap things up ages ago, but the vibe kept shifting, the drinks kept flowing, and suddenly we're still out here under the neon lights. And just like that—voilà! 🙂
So, here’s the deal—I usually end up taking my pill somewhere around 10 or 11 PM, though honestly, it’s all over the place; sometimes it’s earlier, sometimes way later. I just took this one right now, so technically, does that count as having passed the 12-hour mark? The packaging says if it’s been more than 12 hours since the last dose during the first week of use—and look, I’m only on pill number three right now—then we’re supposed to play it safe and use backup protection for the next seven days. But the timing is such a mess because some nights I’m popping it around 9 PM before I head out, and other nights I don't get a chance until 1 or 2 in the morning once I finally crawl back home...
Yeah, honestly, I’m usually hitting my stride with a drink around 11 at night too. It’s that late-night vibe where everything feels a little more real, you know? Just me, the quiet, and whatever's in my glass while the rest of the world is finally shutting up for once.😁
Look, I’m telling you, I’m basically always right—like, it’s actually kind of exhausting being this infallible. There was this one time where I totally missed the mark because I just didn't take my meds, and honestly, everything went sideways after that.
Honestly, I’m just sitting here staring at this tablet on my third slice of pizza, and let me tell you, life is a beautiful, greasy mess.😁(If you caught what I was getting at, haha) So, I ended up taking that morning-after pill the next day, and the instructions basically said you need to play it safe with extra protection for another seven days—like, making sure your partner doesn't finish inside or whatever.😁 Yeah, honestly, you're not wrong, haha... turns out I was totally tripping there.
vividtinker89 said:I’ve got a bit of a situation... I was on Diane for about a year, but I stopped taking them a month ago. Now my period just won't show up. It’s already a week late, though I know for a fact I’m not pregnant since I haven't had sex... so I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this? Maybe it’s because I quit the pills so suddenly? I don't know...😕
Ugh, 😉tell me about it.
A close friend of mine went through the exact same thing, and she actually deals with ovarian cysts. She stopped taking Diane for three weeks and her skin just completely tanked, her mood went totally sideways, and then her gynecologist told her that those tiny little cysts were already starting to pop back up—but honestly, once she gets back on them, she feels fine again. As for the missing period, I wouldn't be the expert here, but I was on them for two years before switching over to Yasmin. With Diane, my cycle was always super predictable, my skin was flawless, and it basically cleared up my PCOS issues entirely.👍
urbanpanther said:Hey, quick question for you.
I’ve been on Yasmin for quite a while now—I did some research and they seem to work perfectly for me. I actually thought about switching over to Gin, just because I wanted to try something with even lower hormone levels, but my doctor basically told me there was no real reason to change since everything is running smoothly... so I decided to stick with the Yasmin... but anyway, that's not really what I'm asking about right now!
What I really want to know is, when it comes to weight loss supplements and birth control, is there any actual chance that those diet pills could mess with how well the pill works as contraception?...
Ugh, let me ask you something else.😉
My OBGYN switched me over to Yasmin after I spent two years on Diane-35... Honestly, I don't even get the logic behind swapping pills if your body has already adjusted (my skin cleared up, my hair looks great, and Diane worked wonders for me)... So, since you're currently on them, what's the verdict based on your experience? I absolutely have to know—did your breasts get bigger?😁 That's my biggest fear, seriously... Because on Diane, they went up a full cup size... And if I'm on a size 4 now, I am definitely not looking to go any higher than that, haha!😁
