Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion]
in Women's Health ·
So, I started on birth control about a month ago—first time ever—and my OBGYN gave me the whole heads-up about potential side effects while my body tries to adjust to the new hormones.
But lately, like the last ten days or so, things have been... weird. I’ve been dealing with this spotting and cramping... it’s that heavy, first-day-of-your-period feeling in your gut, except maybe three times more intense? It kind of comes and goes, too. Like, the bleeding shows up right when the cramps hit, and then once the pain settles down, the bleeding just stops.
Has anyone else gone through something similar? Is it actually normal to be dealing with this much abdominal pain and constant spotting for ten days straight before my period is even supposed to show up? And like, will this eventually chill out once my body gets used to the pills? ...Or should I probably go back to the doctor? I really don't want to be a total drama queen if this is just part of the process, but at the same time, I'm low-key freaking out that maybe it isn't normal, or that these pills might be causing some bigger issue... or maybe they just aren't the right fit for me and I need to switch brands?
