Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion]
in Women's Health ·
Hey everyone. I’m looking for some insight here. I’m planning to start birth control in a few days, but my gynecologist insisted on doing a Pap smear first. I'm wondering if any of you had your doctor demand that before starting the pill? My last Pap was just three months ago. He didn't mention any blood work, just the Pap test, so I'm questioning if that's standard procedure. To be fair, I did have my CBC, metabolic panel, and platelet count checked about two weeks ago. Are there other tests I should probably be looking into? Also, my EKG came back perfect, but I do smoke—does that mess with how they read cardiovascular health during those tests? Sorry for the info dump, just hoping someone can shed some light on this. Thanks.
