Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion]

Hello there, ladies. 🙂
So, I was wondering if perhaps someone here might be able to offer me some guidance.
I have an appointment scheduled with my gynecologist today at 5:00 PM; I need to pick up a prescription for birth control pills because my cycles have been quite irregular lately—it essentially functions as a sort of hormone therapy for me—and, honestly, they’ll probably be quite helpful when I'm being intimate. 🙂 😁
Basically, since my periods are so unpredictable, I suppose I'm wondering whether I actually need to wait until my next cycle starts before I can begin taking them, or if I could potentially just start right away, given that my periods can sometimes be delayed by several months and I don't really have the patience to sit around waiting.
