Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
brightmoose6 said:Can anyone help? I started a new pack on Sunday, May 6th. Then the day before yesterday (Saturday, May 12th), I missed one. I got back on track yesterday and today, but now I’ve started some spotting. What should I do? From what I understand, I just need to keep taking them as usual but use extra protection for the next seven days, right? And what about this bleeding? Thanks!

I just read that when I realized I missed one on Sunday, I was supposed to take both the missed pill and my regular one at the same time, but I didn't. Should I take two today? I still have that one from Saturday sitting in the pack.

Not gonna lie, I doubt anyone here is gonna give you a straight answer. I had a similar question recently and nobody seemed to know what they were talking about—or at least tried...

Honestly, your best bet is just calling your OB-GYN. They'll actually have the right info for you. 😉
Totally forgot I took my pill last night 🤦

Just took it now—about 13.5 hours late. There are exactly 7 pills left in the pack, and according to the instructions—I need extra protection for the next seven days, then take the usual seven-day break before starting a new pack.

But here’s what’s messing with my head—the fine print says if there are fewer than 7 pills left at the end of the pack, you start the new one immediately without a break. Does that mean I won't get my period this time or something? 🤷

Since this is my first time dealing with this—I guess I just carry on normally if I understood correctly 😬

Now I'm just completely lost 🙂

I actually brought up Lyndinette when he was writing my prescription for Logest, and he mentioned that Lyndinette isn't prescribed for contraception. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that clearly implies they are prescribed for women dealing with menstrual irregularities. Since I didn't start taking pills primarily for protection but rather to manage my cycle issues, I could have easily just asked him to switch the script and call it a day. But instead, I'll just be stuck paying full price for these pills.$27 🙂

Wait, so they don't prescribe them for contraception?? I'm taking them preventatively for that exact reason—that's why the doctor gave them to me in the first place... 🙂

Finished my first pack of birth control pills—now I’ve got this seven-day break while I wait for my period to show up. Last month, right after I took that first pill on day one, things were weird... it wasn't a full period, just this light spotting that dragged on all month. Apparently, that’s totally normal when you're starting a new pack, but still... now I'm wondering how I’ll actually know when my real period hits. Like, how can I tell if it’s an actual period or just more of that random daily bleeding? Just want to make sure everything is functioning okay. Might be a dumb question, but I'm honestly pretty confused 😢

I'm 17, and I've been thinking about starting birth control for a while now. To be completely honest, my main motivation is wanting my breasts to grow so I can actually fill out a swimsuit this summer. Since I want to be fully informed before I make any moves, I have a few questions. If you have a moment, please help me out 🙂:
1. What has your experience been regarding breast growth from the pill? Also, is it okay to take them just for that reason? 🙄
2. Can I just go out and buy them on my own?
3. Is there any way to keep this from my parents? It would be really awkward, and I'd rather avoid the lecture or them making a huge deal out of it for no reason.
4. Are there a lot of side effects?

If you're planning on taking them just hoping for bigger breasts, don't bother. Seriously, birth control isn't some magic trick to bump up your bra size—for crying out loud. I've been on them and honestly, I see zero difference... they're still small. Sure, it might work for some people, but don't get your hopes up for nothing ☕
Nicholas Green41 said:So, I’ve run into a bit of a situation and I’m curious what you guys suggest, or if anyone else has dealt with this, especially since my gynecologist is already out for the day.

Basically, my cycles are super irregular—sometimes the bleeding is heavy, other times there’s almost nothing at all and days just pass by...
Also, my skin has been clearing up quite a bit lately.
Because of that, my doctor prescribed Diane and told me to start taking it as soon as my first period hits. She said to kick things off once I notice even a little spotting. Usually, for me, I get some weird discharge a day or two before the actual flow starts.
Well, the day before yesterday, I noticed some light spotting and thought, "Okay, here comes my period," since my last one was back at the end of December, so I went ahead and took the pill. But then yesterday and today, the spotting completely stopped—no blood, no mucus, nothing. So now I’m wondering: should I just keep taking the pills, or can I sort of quietly skip this round and just restart when my "real" period actually shows up? And honestly, what happens if I just stop taking them mid-stream?

Thanks in advance,
Best, 🙂

Same thing happened to me—don't sweat it. Just keep writing... 😉

So I started taking Lindynette 20—well, halfway through the pill—and now I’ve got this brownish discharge... is that actually normal? It’s been going on for a few days now. Had my period for five days, then nothing for five days, and now I’m on day three or four of this spotting... just wondering if anyone else deals with this.

So, I'm hitting my eleventh pill today—and for the last few days, there’s been this light brown discharge going on. They tell me it’s totally normal when you're starting the first pack... just how it goes, I guess.

Paul Rivera said:If I were you, I’d just start today since technically it's Day 1, regardless of how light it is. 🤷
I guess you probably know best when your period usually hits and what your typical first-day flow looks like.🤷

Yeah, I'm basically waiting on it. It should've shown up any day now. Honestly, my cycle was never timed to the minute anyway. But this is the first time I've had this weird, super light spotting 🙂 right when it matters most—because I really need to get on these pills...

Super confusing, right? 🤷

help, please 🙂
My OB prescribed Lindynette 20 birth control—told me to start on day 1 of my next period.
Never used pills before.
Woke up this morning with a little spotting on my underwear, but that’s it for the whole day... just seeing some blood when I wipe after using the bathroom.

Does this count as my period? Should I start today? 🤷
Or should I wait until tomorrow to see if things actually pick up? 🙂

What do you guys think? Thanks for any help.
neonnomad18 said:here's the price list from some local clinic so just do the math...🤷

thanks 😉
Just finished my OBGYN appointment at a private clinic and they told me I need a full blood panel—so I was thinking about hitting up a private lab, maybe somewhere like Labor or an unknown provider.
I need a CBC, CMP, liver panel, lipid profile, coagulation panel, and beta-HCG.
Anyone know what the damage is gonna be... like, what’s the total cost looking like for all that?
