Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
So, I was scrolling through some threads on the forum and saw a few people saying that taking breaks from birth control isn't actually a good idea. Is that really the case? Like, shouldn't you let your body just chill for two or three months to reset from all those hormones before jumping back in?
I’m honestly super torn right now because I’m sitting here totally indecisive about whether I should take a break or just power through. 🙂
And yeah, I’ve also been low-key thinking about switching to a different brand of pills entirely, so I’m really curious to hear what you guys think about that too! 🙂
Hey guys, just wanted to check in with you all 🙂 after that whole situation back on day 12! So, get this—I didn't get anything at all when my period was supposed to start?! Honestly, I was on the verge of a total meltdown, LOL.
I finally made it to an appointment with my OB-GYN. We did an ultrasound, ran some blood work, and everything looks totally fine on paper.
He told me that this can happen since those hormones can be pretty weak sometimes, and if things keep going this way, he’s going to switch me over to a stronger prescription. 🙂

Jesse Evans85 said:curie0 - And could you perhaps give your gynecologist a call? Personally, I’m assuming it isn't anything serious and that you aren't pregnant; it might just be the change in seasons... Keep me posted on what they say.

And hey, he can basically just guess along with us too! As soon as I hear anything, I'll definitely post an update 🙂

Hey everyone! Just dropping in to say hi! Hope you're all having an absolutely killer day! ✨ kaže:

When you mentioned you've been on the pill for "ages," I honestly thought we were talking years, not just five months! 😂 Maybe your body is still just getting used to the routine and finding its rhythm? It takes a minute sometimes!🤷

Ugh, tell me about it! Honestly, I’ve been there. I was on it for a while, then I took a little breather—like a solid two or three months—and then just jumped right back into it! It’s such a cycle, right? 😂
Honestly, reading what you just wrote actually made me feel a whole lot better already! ❤️✨ 🙂
Honestly, I was legitimately floored by how this all went down. Like, I’m still sitting here processing it because I seriously did not see it coming!
Ugh, honestly though, I’m seriously starting to think that massive climate shift is actually doing something to us. Like, even back in the day, whenever I used to travel and noticed a huge jump in the temperature, I’d feel my heart just start racing like crazy! It's wild how much the weather affects everything, right?

Kimberly Ross3 said:How long have you been on them, and which ones specifically are you taking?
And you've never had bleeding like that while actually being on the pill before?
Did you deal with any other side effects at all?
What does the actual pamphlet say about this happening?

Just take it easy—everything is going to be fine. If you’ve been taking them consistently—and you said you have—then the chances of this happening should honestly be microscopic... so I’m thinking maybe there was just some kind of hormonal imbalance. Have you been under a lot of stress lately? Maybe?

Hey, I've been on them for about 5 months now. At first, I started spotting around day 18, but it kept shifting depending on the pack, so maybe with my last box it happened just a day before the break. The instructions don't actually mention anything specific; they just say to call the doctor, but I can't get an appointment for another two weeks. And honestly, I don't think I've been stressed out at all these past few days XD

I was really hoping someone else had gone through this too, which is why I posted. I couldn't find anything helpful on Google either. 😢

The only thing that just crossed my mind is that I recently moved from Florida down to Chicago, and the weather here has been absolutely freezing—maybe that played a part? This used to happen to me all the time back before I started the pill.

Kimberly Ross3 said:Honestly, who knows what’s going on... maybe just some hormonal imbalance? If I were you—and I mean, if I were in your shoes—I’d just wait through today and see how things feel, and then either call my OB-GYN tomorrow or just head over to their office for a quick check-up.

And look, if you’re worried about being pregnant, go grab a test right now, or just get to the doctor immediately for an exam—because if it turns out you *are* pregnant, you’d need to stop taking the pills right away.

Just try not to stress too much—usually, when we freak out, everything just feels ten times worse—but I'm crossing my fingers for you and hoping it's nothing serious!

Ugh, I don't know, I am seriously praying I'm not part of that unlucky 1%.
But it's not just like, a tiny little spot or anything... I actually got my full period. 🙂

Hey everyone! So, I’ve been on the pill for ages now, right? But out of nowhere, I just got my period on day 12. And I’m talking totally unexpected here—I haven't missed a single pill, and I definitely haven't been throwing up or anything. Does anyone have a clue why this might be happening? Could there be any connection to pregnancy?
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Hey everyone! Does anyone actually know how you find out if there are blood clots present? Like, can you spot any signs through a standard CBC (complete blood count) or something else?

quietfox384 said:Perhaps it's an insufficient dose of hormones? They aren't regulating the cycle properly—meaning, are they experiencing breakthrough bleeding?
Wouldn't that be the likely culprit? 🤷
If so, Lindynette 30 shouldn't be doing the trick—those ought to be the "stronger" pills.
At any rate, a gynecologist should be able to suggest some alternatives; you really ought to ask them directly.

Yeah, exactly! That’s the thing! 🙂
I just wanted to get a feel for what other options are out there and see how the prices look before I actually head in for an appointment. Because besides that...

Yeah, it's definitely a struggle. I just wanted to do a little homework first, you know? Figure out what my choices are and get an idea of the price range before seeing the doctor, because honestly, these meds are getting seriously expensive! 😢

Ugh, I’m seriously sipping on this stuff right now and honestly? It’s just way too weak for me. Like, total letdown. 🙂 I think I’m gonna have to switch gears and find something else entirely. Does anyone out there have a solid recommendation they could drop? Just in case someone asks me for a suggestion later!
Hey everyone! I was wondering if I can actually get my referrals directly from the doctor assigned to my university?

Also, does a referral issued in one city work if I'm in a different city?
And if I need blood work done because of my birth control, can I just grab that referral from my primary care physician, or do I specifically have to go through the gynecologist I'm registered with?

Chloe Gray5 said:From what I've heard, it's pretty rare for anyone to refill your prescription without doing their own check first. And honestly, those pills go for around $120—I don't think it really matters where the script comes from.
For referrals, you still get that physical paperwork—it’s not all digital through some portal yet 😉.

As for cellulite, personally, I haven't noticed my pills having any effect on it at all.

Bottom line though—just ask your OBGYN. I'm pretty sure you don't take a break when switching brands. That's how it worked for me when I moved from Yaza over to Lindy.

Okay, thanks! I have an appointment tomorrow, so I’ll just chat with her then and see what she thinks is the best move.
I was under the impression there might be a difference between getting a script privately versus through public health services, so I was just curious!

Hey—just dropping by to say hi! Hope everyone’s having a good one. kaže:
I checked my hormone levels and everything came back normal. But he’s basically brushing off these cycles that swing anywhere from 15 to 60 days—just chalking it all up to stress.

Like, doctors usually check your hormone levels if you're dealing with PCOS—since that can totally mess with your cycle regularity.

You should probably get some other tests done—like blood work (CBC, liver panels, etc.), a transvaginal ultrasound, and a Pap smear. I think that’s everything. If those all come back clean + you don't have any history of thrombosis (which is already a risk factor), they'll just prescribe the pills.

Hey—just popping in to say hi! Hope everyone’s having a good one. ✨ kaže:
Hey—so, looking at the difference between hitting up a private clinic versus using your standard socialized healthcare—it really comes down to speed and convenience. With a private doc, you’re basically paying for the "VIP lane" so you don't have to wait forever. If you're just going in to get a prescription filled or a quick check-up, a private provider might charge you a consultation fee that's significantly higher than your usual co-pay—think somewhere in the ballpark of a decent dinner out or a nice steakhouse meal depending on the city. As for how long it takes? Private is usually a breeze—you're often in and out in twenty minutes—whereas the public route can feel like waiting in line at a DMV on a Monday morning.

Man, if you had to pay for all those private tests, it'd cost you an arm and a leg—just stick to the blood work, seriously. $133Yeah, you still gotta get that Pap smear, the Dad test, and a pelvic ultrasound done—not sure what those run for right now. Honestly? If I were you, I’d take your insurance referrals to your regular OB-GYN to get the scans covered for free, then just bring the results over to the private doctor later.

I’m actually planning on seeing a private specialist because I just can't make it to my usual doctor right now.
I’ve heard stories that a lot of gynecologists won't even bother with testing and will just prescribe pills instead. I even read somewhere that if you're a young, healthy woman, you might not even need all these screenings. I was planning on getting them done in about a month or so—would that be okay?

Also, is the price around $120 for both public clinics and private ones, or is there a huge difference?

And one more thing—are the referral systems still the same, or is everything at the hospital connected online now? If you know what I mean! XD
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
So, what’s the actual deal with getting birth control through a private doctor versus using the public healthcare system? Like, how much would a private doc even charge just for the visit to handle that? And honestly, how long does the whole process usually take?

Hey, rowdyfox12! Just saw you pop up—what's the word? Hope everything's going awesome on your end today! 🙌✨ kaže:
Hey, just so we’re all clear here—Durex definitely isn't the only condom brand out there! There are tons of other options on the market if you're looking for something different. 😉

And you know what? It’s totally not true! Honestly, they all just act like they’re built from the exact same blueprint and made out of the same cheap material. I mean, come on, I seriously don't buy for a second that there's any massive difference between them! 😢

Hey everyone! 👋 Just popping in here to say hi and get the conversation flowing! I feel like there’s been such a massive wave of energy on the boards lately, and honestly, I am absolutely living for it! ✨ It’s so refreshing to see everyone jumping in and sharing their thoughts—it really makes this community feel like home, you know? I was just scrolling through some of the recent threads and I couldn't help but smile at how much passion everyone has. Whether we're debating the best local spots or just venting about a crazy week, that vibe is everything! 🙌 What’s everyone up to today? Tell me everything! I want all the tea, all the wins, and even the little mishaps. Let’s make this a great day together! 💖✨ kaže:
Honestly, if you ask me, I’d much rather have those protections in place than just leave everything totally wide open! It’s way better to be safe than sorry, right? 😲 🤷
Hey, quick question for the group—which brands or specific condoms have you guys actually used? Maybe if you try some of those ultra-thin ones, you won't feel them quite as much. Just a thought!

Oh man, we definitely hit that trifecta! We’re talking Durex Elite, Ultra Thin, AND Real Feel. Honestly, it’s a miracle we actually pulled that off successfully—that kind of luck is rare! 😢
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
I haven't actually started on the pill yet, but before I jump in, I really wanted to get your take on this.
I was planning on starting them because, honestly, things between us are almost always unprotected (condoms just don't work for us), but here's the catch:
we're about to be super long-distance, and we'll probably only see each other for a few days once a month. So, does it even make sense—or is it worth the hassle—to start taking them now? I should mention that my periods are totally regular and I deal with ovulation spotting too, so I’ve felt pretty secure up until now, but I'm just so over the constant stress and worrying every single month.
