Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
@leeloo27 — Look, I wasn't trying to play expert or draw big conclusions based on my own life here. It’s not like I’m sitting around worrying about my own health or planning for a pregnancy anytime soon! I was honestly just asking because I wanted to hear some real-world experiences for informational purposes. To be perfectly blunt, this whole topic of birth control pills is a total maze to me. It feels like walking through a fog without a compass. One doctor tells you that you absolutely need to take a break to let your system reset, while another one basically says, "Don't sweat it, you can get back into the action immediately." When you're getting such conflicting advice, it’s hard to know who to trust. Honestly? It feels like nobody! 😁

@ Edward Murphy4 - thanks for sharing your experience! 🙂 ...I’m just curious about one thing: once she realized she was pregnant, did she stop taking the pills immediately, or did she keep going for a little while longer after the fact?

@ barsana - Look, the core of the issue is that it doesn’t necessarily mean the outcome was harmful or safe; it just means she went through an abortion without any way of knowing if the baby was healthy or not. That isn't really the kind of lived experience I was hoping to connect with here. I was honestly thinking someone might chime in if they had specific insight regarding the baby's status 😉
@ Victoria - Yeah, you know what, I'm calling it quits 😁

Bryan Doyle10 said:I personally know a woman—a family friend—who ended up pregnant while on the pill. Not a single doctor she saw, and she consulted quite a few, could guarantee she’d have a healthy baby. In the end, she suffered a miscarriage. I don't know; people write all sorts of things online, but for me, this is enough proof that something like this (getting pregnant while on birth control) isn't exactly ideal or healthy.🤷

Edit: This isn't about someone being irresponsible, so hearsay from people here doesn't really carry weight for me.

Even when a pregnancy happens under perfectly "normal" circumstances, nobody can honestly guarantee that the baby will be healthy. My guess is it was simply too early in the process for any potential "issues" to show up on an ultrasound. So, looking at it that way, this doesn't really provide a direct answer to the question I asked.

It would be really helpful if someone could share a real-life example from their own experience. 😁 Honestly, thinking about it makes me feel a little bit uneasy...

I've been pondering something lately, and I have a feeling some of you experts here might be able to shed some light on it. 🙂
If someone happens to become pregnant while they're still taking their birth control pills—whether that's because a pill was accidentally missed or the protection just failed for some reason—are the pills taken during pregnancy actually harmful to the developing baby?
