Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
wanderingseal14 said:When does the acne actually start clearing up after starting birth control? Does it show up within the first cycle?

Honestly, things actually got worse for me at first... I mean, even after six months, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the results—the skin had improved significantly, sure, but I was under the impression it would be completely clear by then. Then I started using Avène's Triacneal on my face and now, well, things are actually looking great... I get maybe one breakout a month and that’s about it... I'm on Loestrin...

Has anyone here actually cleared up their acne or body breakouts using pills? How long did it take before you saw any real progress, and how long until they were completely gone?

I’ve been on Yaz for about a year now. Honestly, at first, things actually seemed to get worse—it took maybe six months just for my skin to settle down... But I’m pretty happy with where I am now. I get maybe two breakouts a month at most. And, well, I’m still using Triacneal, so I guess I should probably give some credit to both the pills and the cream...
Hi there. I’ve been on Loestrin for about four months now—currently on my fifth pack—and I’ve started having some breakthrough bleeding about four days before I'm even supposed to finish the box.
It only happened during my first month, though. Should I be worried? I don't actually use them for contraception—they're strictly medicinal for me, so protection isn't an issue—but generally, they've been great. My skin is finally clear, my cycles are a steady 28 days, and I have zero pain... so I'm just worried I might have to switch brands entirely. 😢
I know the smart move is to call my doctor, but since it's the weekend, I was wondering if anyone here has dealt with this sudden spotting out of nowhere?

Hey, how's it going with the clock adjustment? If I took my dose at 10, should I just stick to that—or do I actually need to shift things over to 11?

Thanks! I really hope I get the same results—fingers crossed, I guess. I know everyone’s skin reacts differently, obviously, but roughly how many boxes did it take before you saw a total clear-up? I’m getting pretty impatient here, and honestly, given what I’m shelling out for this, I feel like I have every right to be 😉

Cure, I’m curious—at what point did you guys actually notice your skin clearing up? Was it just the major acne that vanished, or those tiny little bumps too? Like, is your face actually smooth now?
well, I’ve gone through three boxes of Belare so far—there’s definitely some progress, I guess—but I’m really hoping it doesn't plateau here, and that things keep getting even better 🙂
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
vividsailor7 said:1. Are you having any trouble urinating?
2. What’s the status of your bowel movements?
3. Do you have a fever?

I also deal with these absolutely brutal menstrual cramps—but along with them, there's this intense pressure in my lower colon. My bowel movements are actually normal, I guess, but that pressure is just unbearable... I can't even tell if it's getting worse because of the cramps or if it's something else entirely. I noticed some other women here have mentioned similar things, so if anyone has any advice... I'd really appreciate it.
My leukocyte count came back at 4 (within the 0-5 range)—so, I guess that’s fine. But these crystals... could they actually be linked to kidney issues?
Waiting until Monday feels like an eternity, so I’m reaching out here for some insight... my urinalysis shows quite a bit of bacteria, plenty of mucus, and a high level of calcium oxalate. My squamous epithelial cells came back at 3—the reference range is 0-0, which I assume means anything above zero is technically "off." As for my bloodwork, my hemoglobin is slightly elevated, along with my MCV and MCH—what on earth does that even mean? To top it off, my monocytes are low. Everything else seems fine, but honestly, it’s the urine results that have me feeling uneasy... what do you all think???????????? thanks so much
