Decided to finally weigh in after thinking about it for quite a while... 😁
27 years old, 5'4", 112 lbs

After two months at the gym—hitting weights three times a week plus a weekly run—this is where I'm at. Not bad for a start. I couldn't quite capture my arms properly in the shot; they're actually more toned than they look here, but the mirror in my bathroom is terrible... 😁

I've always been naturally very thin. My stomach is the only thing that stands out—not because of actual fat, but just how it sits—though I can't tell if that's just my build, my diet, or a bit of both. Honestly, I've never really tracked what, when, or how much I eat since I've spent my whole life struggling to put on weight. By most standards, I was fine, and I never felt the need to change... but over the last few months, I managed to gain about 7 or 8 pounds and finally crossed the 110 mark. 😁

My legs have definitely strengthened and filled out quite a bit—I wouldn't want them to get too bulky, though; it might throw off my proportions. My midsection is still the main concern, along with my lower back, arms, and obviously my glutes. Since I started training and paying closer attention to nutrition, things aren't perfect, but I'm mostly eating healthy now. This is just the beginning, so if anyone has suggestions, tips, or even just a heads-up on what to watch out for—pretty please... 🙂

Has anyone here actually cleared up their acne or body breakouts using pills? How long did it take before you saw any real progress, and how long until they were completely gone?

No luck here—after eighteen months on Yaz and six months on Logest before that, nothing changed.
My OB-GYN mentioned that Yaz is specifically effective for skin issues and that plenty of dermatologists prescribe it for that reason... though whether that’s actually true remains to be seen. I’m just on my first pack—fingers crossed this works.😁

So, my boyfriend and I only have sex maybe twice a month at most, and we always use condoms. I’m a massive overthinker when it comes to pregnancy, so I always end up checking the condom afterward just to make sure nothing slipped or anything. Given how much I worry, would it be better to just start on the pill? Or are condoms enough protection since we aren't having sex regularly? Thanks 🙂

Tell me what you actually need—what would make you feel more secure... 🙂
Regarding that—do you honestly think pills could just make fear vanish...?
Condoms and birth control pills—they both count as reliable protection... if you use them right.
Maybe—if we’re only talking about two instances a month—it isn't worth dropping that much cash on pills... unless you find some that qualify for insurance coverage.

Personally, I prefer pills—they make me feel secure, zero worries... whereas with condoms, there's always that nagging thought: what if it slips, or breaks, or something else entirely? But that’s just my take—someone else might feel the exact opposite... I suppose it all comes down to habit. 😁
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Tyler Vaughn5 said:Is there any way to get birth control pills for free? If not, which ones are the most affordable? My girlfriend hasn't been on them for quite a while, so we aren't sure if anything regarding her prescription needs to change; she was previously taking Diane 35.

Diane 35 used to be covered by insurance—not sure if that's still the case—but from what I know, they have the highest hormone levels. They aren't usually recommended just for contraception alone, especially for younger women, unless there are other issues involved... like PCOS.
Logest is roughly $6.75, and Lindynette is about $10 (you’d pay the difference with a prescription). I think those are basically the only ones on the formulary; everything else requires full out-of-pocket payment and ends up being quite a bit more expensive.

Regarding your later question—they all provide protection regardless of the hormone dosage. However, these newer options with lower hormone levels are much easier on the body... though unfortunately, they come with a higher price tag.

If you decide to start with those pills now, you can absolutely switch to a different brand later once she gives you the new prescription. It shouldn't be an issue—the instructions usually explain exactly how to handle that transition.
The only real complication would be if things get messy—say, if there's a delay with the doctor and you don't get your new prescription immediately. Having to skip a cycle and then restart can be pretty hard on your system, which isn't ideal. Ultimately, though, it's your call to make.

Yeah, I'm really hoping there won't be any complications.
Thanks for the input. 🙂
Hey there! I have a bit of a dilemma—a question, really—and if any of you could offer some advice, I’d truly appreciate it. 🙂

I stopped taking birth control pills a few months ago since I didn't need them then, but now I'm looking to start back up as soon as possible. 😁
My period should arrive in about a week, and I actually have an old pack sitting at home from before... I have an appointment scheduled with my OB-GYN in two and a half weeks, where I planned to ask for a prescription and discuss whether I should stick with the same brand or switch things up. But if I wait until then, I'll essentially be waiting another month or so before I can actually get started again...

So, here's the thing: if I go ahead and start this current pack now, would it be okay to just switch to a different brand once the doctor writes a new prescription after this pack is finished? Or is that a bad idea? Has anyone dealt with something similar?
