Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
So I’ve been on Adexa for about a year and a half now and everything was totally fine until recently, but my last period was just super weird, like mostly brown with just these tiny little hints of red here and there and it was way lighter than usual... My cycle is normally around 28 to 29 days, so this one showed up on August 22nd after my last one on July 24th, which means the timing was perfect and it lasted just as long as always, it was just that strange brownish color and really weak...

I’ve seriously never had anything like this happen before so I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with something similar or if maybe someone knows what might be going on... Thanks so much!
So I just popped the very last pill out of my pack and I'm supposed to start my period this Friday, but honestly, I really want to push it back because I have this trip coming up and I seriously don't feel like dealing with the whole tampon and pad hassle while I'm away...

Basically, I was wondering if it's actually doable since I totally blanked on taking my pill yesterday, so if I just take two today and then keep going as usual, would that work, and do I need to worry about using extra protection or anything like that?

Edit: I'm on the Adexa 21 + 7 day break routine

So I'm on Adexa, you know, doing the whole 21 days on plus a week break thing, and then yesterday I totally blanked on my pill and didn't even realize until like 24 hours later... Since I don't have the manual handy here to see what the move is, I just went ahead and took two at once, one for yesterday and one for today... I'm supposed to take my last one tomorrow and get my period on Friday, so I'm just wondering if I've completely messed everything up and if my whole cycle is gonna be all wonky now...
Harold Cook2 said:So, I officially started over at Adexom yesterday. Now I’m just sitting here wondering how this whole thing is actually gonna play out for me. Honestly? Who knows. Just one of those things where you dive in headfirst and hope the landing isn't too brutal.
Seriously though, did you guys actually let yourselves get played like that by them? Honestly, it’s pathetic. You just stood there and took it. Total sucker move.

Not for me. Well, over the last couple of months I've seen about six pounds pop up on the scale, even though my clothes still fit the same way...🤷 And honestly, I don't think it's from the pills since I've been on them for eight months now and everything was totally fine until recently...

Gary Rivera2 said:Got a serious case of diarrhea about ten hours after taking my Bela... The instructions mention what to do if it happens within four hours of the dose, so I guess maybe I'm safe. I'm planning on taking my regular dose tonight, but I suppose I should ask what you all think.

Honestly, I'd say you're totally fine since enough time has passed, so just keep going with your normal routine like usual...
Hey there, just popping in to say hi and wishing everyone the absolute best day ever... hope you're all feeling amazing... [User Name] says:
Hey hollowharbor12...

I guess it really just comes down to which pill is left in the blister pack... apparently everything gets way riskier after that eighth tablet, so they suggest using backup protection for the next 7 to 10 days... and I also heard that anything happening within 2 or 3 hours of taking the pill shouldn't mess with how it absorbs...

Something similar happened to me with my Triquilar just about two and a half hours later... they told me I was fine for now, but that I should probably start loading up on more fiber and potassium through my diet since those pills can totally mess with your digestion...

I mean, you don't necessarily need to have full-blown diarrhea for it to be worth checking out, just having much softer stools than usual can be a sign... If I were in your shoes, I'd definitely give my OB-GYN a call and just ask... better safe than sorry, right... 🤷

Hey there, just popping in to say hi and sending some good vibes your way today... hope everything is going awesome for you... kaže:
I honestly don't think there's any difference between the days with those Adexa pills since all the tablets in the blister pack look exactly the same... It's possible that the Triquilar from Adexa might actually be different though...

The instructions say if you’ve been throwing up or dealing with some serious diarrhea within a four-hour window...
Maybe after listening to Adexe, you guys didn't quite get the hormone boost you needed... if you actually start to feel it...
You’ll start feeling way better within about 12 hours of taking your Adexa, just make sure you follow those steps in section 3.4... If you happen to misplace your pill, go ahead and grab another one instead. But if you’re still dealing with vomiting or diarrhea 12 hours after your dose, definitely check out the instructions for missed doses in section 3.3...

That’s just the whole point of it all... tough times... slyhound5: It’s just about getting that dose of hormones in regardless of whether things are moving along smoothly or not... as long as it isn't too much or too heavy, there really shouldn't be any reason to stress out about it... 🙂

Just wanted to give you guys a quick heads-up... I didn't end up taking that extra pill, and my gynecologist actually told me later on that it wasn't even necessary since my period showed up right on schedule anyway... so everything is looking totally fine... 🙂

So, about an hour and forty-five minutes after taking my pill, things got a little soft down there... I wouldn't exactly call it full-blown diarrhea, just kind of mushy, you know... Should I have taken an extra pill? The instructions say to take another one if you deal with severe diarrhea, but now I'm sitting here wondering what actually counts as "severe" in their book...

And what happens if I didn't take it? Like, how much extra protection am I getting and for how long...

neonstag63 said:Yeah, they’re newer—I think they hit the US market around 2013. 🤔

I’m not totally sure if they’re specifically for cycle regulation... I guess they work like most others. My OB-GYN told me I didn't really need anything to regulate my period and just prescribed these instead. 🤷

But honestly, they’re great—side effects are pretty much minimal... I get a little more emotional and my boobs got a bit bigger, so I kind of call it even. 🎉 😬
All in all 👍.

Oh yeah, they definitely do, just like any other birth control out there... 🙂 I'm already on my third pack, and honestly, those two periods showed up not just right on schedule, but at the exact same hour too... 😁 And who even knows if they would have shown up at all otherwise...

Jesse Evans85 said:Bubeta, if you don't mind my asking, how old are you? Are these the very first pills you've ever tried?

Yeah, they totally are my first ones...

Jesse Evans85 said:Are these some kind of new pills? There isn't much information about them online.

I honestly haven't got a clue, though I'm thinking they probably are since I couldn't dig anything up either...

Harold Cook2 said:Honestly, I’m looking at it for the same reasons, plus a few other annoying little issues. I just can't seem to make up my mind. 🙄

They’ve been working like a charm for me, honestly, and I haven't really dealt with any side effects except for some brownish discharge during my first pack that only lasted a couple of days... and my breasts feel kind of heavier now, if you even consider that a side effect... 🙂

Harold Cook2 said:Wait, how did you even score those?
How much do they actually go for?

Mainly just to deal with irregular periods, because I honestly couldn't handle my cycle being such a complete mess anymore...

$19It comes in a box, though there's supposed to be a three-pack version that's a better deal, but I haven't been able to track that down yet...

Harold Cook2 said:Anyone here actually tried Adexa pills?
My OB/GYN recommended them, saying they're top-tier because they have basically zero hormone impact—supposedly super chill on the system.

I’m actually starting my third pack tomorrow, and honestly, they’ve been total lifesavers for me...👍

So, I just started on birth control for the first time ever, and I’m currently halfway through my second pack... I’ve been super consistent so far, but then somehow today I completely blanked and missed my 2 PM dose, only catching myself and taking it about an hour and a half later...

According to the instructions, it should be totally fine, but since this is all brand new to me and I’m feeling a little paranoid, I figured I’d check here to see if it’s actually okay to just carry on as usual and take my next one at 2 PM tomorrow...

neonstag63 said:I haven't been using them long enough to really tell yet, but fingers crossed everything stays cool. 🙂
When did you notice the spotting, and how long did it last?

It started up right after my period ended and went on for about five days, though it was really light and usually just happened in the mornings... nothing since then.

Hey there, just popping in to say hi and hope everyone’s having an absolutely stellar day so far... stays breezy out there! kaže:
Nicholas Lopez3 says they didn't really give me that option anymore, or even bother to offer it to me, so... 🤷
I wandered past three different pharmacies before I finally tracked one down since they just opened up all these new spots around town... 🙂Man, they were the only ones who actually had them in stock... My prescription is good for like 12 months, so I guess I'll just be heading back there once a month then...

Yeah, it kind of bugged me that since they’re so new, I couldn't find a single thing online about them, like actual reviews or what they cost or anything at all... But honestly, they've been pretty good for me so far, no major side effects except for some light spotting that cleared up super fast, so I'm just crossing my fingers that it stays that way... 🙂

neonstag63 said:My doctor told me it’s fine—basically, as long as I’m certain I’m not pregnant, she said I should just keep taking the pills as usual and that’s that. We'll just have to see how it goes... 🤷

Thanks. 😉

Well, if your doctor gave you the green light, then you’re probably golden... 🙂

Anyway, I wanted to ask you something... did you grab just a single month's supply or that three-month pack? I'm trying to figure out the price on the larger one since people say it's way more cost-effective, but everywhere I've looked lately, they don't even seem to carry it...

Harold James3 said:Hey there! So, I’ve been on Diane 35 for about two years now. Quick question for the group: am I actually protected from day one once I start my new pack after that 7-day break?

As long as you're taking them exactly like you're supposed to, you're covered the whole way through... including during that 7-day break and right when you kick off the next pack too...

Hey there, just popping in to say hi and hope everyone's having a totally beautiful day so far... stay awesome... kaže:
I saw someone already asking about Adexa pills, but since nobody really jumped in to help, I figured I’d just ask generally... I started taking them yesterday, right on the first day of my period, and my cycle basically wrapped up that very same day... Now today there's just nothing left, so I'm sitting here wondering if that's actually normal...
John Thomas2 mentioned that my doctor said it’s totally normal for periods to get shorter if you've been on the pill for a while, but I'm just sitting here wondering how quickly that's supposed to happen after starting... 🤷

I started on these about two and a half weeks ago, right on day one of my period which only lasted four days... though I was actually taking Duphaston just to get things moving in the first place, because without it, who knows when it would've even shown up... and honestly, thanks to the Duphaston, it only lasted four days instead of my usual six or seven...

I don't know about your situation, though it seems kind of wild to me that just one pill would totally shut everything down right away... but hey, I'm probably wrong so take it with a grain of salt... 🤷
Has anyone actually tried those Adexa pills before? Like, side effects, what they cost, or just anything at all... I've been searching all over the web but I can't find a single thing about them anywhere... 🤷
