It looks like you aren't getting nearly enough vitamin B12 through your diet. Based on your results, you're definitely going to need supplements. You should also try to eat more foods high in potassium since those levels are looking low, too—just keep in mind that taking B12 can sometimes drive your potassium even lower. I’d suggest getting your ferritin checked next. Also, was your blood sugar tested while you were fasting?
Hi there, I actually went ahead and started using a B12 spray on my own! My primary care doctor didn't suggest any supplements yet; instead, they just sent me in for follow-up labs (glucose, iron, UIBC, and TIBC) in about a month. Thanks for the heads-up on the potassium; I'll make sure to check my ferritin levels. The blood work was done fasting. One thing I have noticed over the last few months is that my hair has been thinning quite a bit. I'm also not sure if it's worth mentioning, but I experience heart palpitations occasionally. They don't really bother me, but I read somewhere once that they might be linked to potassium levels. Thanks!
Dear
Nicholas Myers, a few months ago I asked for some advice on blood work and which specific tests would be useful for a routine checkup while following a vegan diet. I didn't run every single test possible due to the cost, but I did get most of them done. My physical also noted a slightly enlarged spleen. I'm in my late twenties. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good primary care doctor in Seattle?

are you experiencing any specific symptoms?
There isn't a single set of "standard" tests everyone needs, but if you're looking to get a systematic blood panel done, I'd suggest starting with a CBC, Iron, UIBC, TIBC, Ferritin, Calcium, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Vitamin D (25-OH D), total protein, and albumin.
Hello,
I haven't really had any unusual symptoms since changing my diet; honestly, before the change, bloating was probably my only real issue.
I just want to check in on my levels and make sure everything is running smoothly. Thanks so much for the response!
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could recommend which specific tests I should run if I'm following a vegan or vegetarian diet. Thanks! 🙂
Has anyone here switched from Diane 35 to something else? I’d love to hear how it went for you.
A few years back, I started on Diane 35. I stayed on them for over a year before asking my OB-GYN for something a bit milder. I moved over to Lindinet 20 for a while, but eventually, I stopped taking birth control altogether. That’s when things really went south—my skin completely broke out, becoming super oily and acne-prone all over my face. My cycle became totally unpredictable, too; sometimes it would just skip entirely. So, I decided to get back on them. My doctor actually prescribed Diane 35 again recently, but after being on them for about a year now, I’m feeling it. I'm dealing with bloating, cellulite issues, mood swings, and my libido has basically vanished. I’m terrified to stop because I don't want my skin to go crazy again, but I feel like I'm just going in circles trying to find the right pill. When I ask my doctor when this will all settle down, she just tells me it'll happen once I have kids, which isn't exactly in my plans anytime soon.
