Drew Ross2 said:Wait, did you seriously just reply to him even though he's on your ignore list? 😵

What's the actual issue here? Is it totally fine if someone replies to my post after I've already put them on ignore? And then they go ahead and get insulting because they think I won't even see it? Are the mods just staying quiet because they're okay with the insults?
What part of this isn't making sense to you?

Just to be clear, Jack Ward82 wasn't the one throwing insults at my post after I ignored him. It was some other user, and the moderators didn't step in at all.

I see a post from Jack Ward82 right after mine—since he just got put on my ignore list, I’m pretty sure this one is aimed at me.
Look, man, here’s my two cents: if you’re going to sign up for a forum and jump into debates, the least you can do is actually read and process what people are saying. If you can't manage that, then honestly, don't even bother replying. I specifically put you on ignore because talking to you had become a total waste of breath. In that thread about COVID conspiracy theories, I mentioned at least three different times that I don't buy into that stuff, yet you kept ignoring me and acting like I was part of the conspiracy crowd. How long am I supposed to put up with that kind of attitude? It’s nothing more than childish rudeness, plain and simple. So, you're on ignore now—feel free to be as rude as you want to the void.

Don't bother replying, since I'm not reading your posts anyway. Unless someone quotes you, like they did here.

You know, there's a lot of truth to that. Sadly, it feels like a pretty common occurrence on this forum.

So, after dealing with a ton of warnings and bans, I finally decided to just put a few people on my ignore list, and honestly? It’s been such a breath of fresh air posting here since then. I didn't bother putting them in my signature because I don't see the point, but hey, do whatever works for you. One thing that really bugs me, though... I feel like I get flagged or banned all the time for stuff that falls under "moderator discretion." But weirdly enough, those same mods don't seem to have any discretion when someone on my ignore list starts coming for me. Since I can't even see their posts, I can't report them. It feels like the mods are always siding with John Doe, while I end up getting slapped with a warning the second I snap back at someone I've already blocked.
darktinker4 said:Hey, don't get sassy with me. Everything you just listed is wrong anyway. You could travel anywhere within the County, specifically within the municipalities. And in those tiny rural areas where every little village has its own local government, that worked too.

Whatever

Who are we even supposed to call to get a straight answer?

She’s not being prickly, she’s just telling it like it is. My neighbor couldn't even get an e-Permit to drive to the city 5.0 miles from her place just to attend her daughter-in-law's grandmother's funeral.
silentskipper3 said:Maybe you should just shoot an email over to the CIA or whatever local agency handles those municipal districts you're dealing with. They really ought to be the ones issuing your permit to you.

Honestly, there's no need to send an email. They can just request the permit through the official government portal from the FEMA office in the specific local government unit they plan to visit. Just make sure they name the exact municipality and include a quick sentence or two in the reason for travel explaining why they absolutely have to be in that specific town on that particular day.
Grace Jones86 said:Stop talking nonsense.
You can't just request a permit for whatever you want... it's limited to two or three basic needs.

And let's be real, there are thousands of legitimate reasons people need to move around in daily life.

So, quite the opposite—with almost every other measure, you can find some workaround for your needs, but when it comes to moving to see someone or go somewhere specific, you simply can't and you aren't allowed to. ☕

The thing is, you *can* apply for a permit for pretty much anything. It's just a matter of whether they actually approve it. I even tried applying for one just to go fishing, and guess what happened...
fadedranger162 said:I must've missed something here, but are the hotels actually open, or is that just what they're hoping to keep doing through the summer? Seriously, what a joke. They’re dreaming about Americans driving through half the country just to hit our beaches, while simultaneously planning to set up checkpoints at every single turn on the way to the coast. 😵 😵 😵

Since when did we start being so welcoming to everyone?!
Jerry Robinson56 said:They are similar in that regard... they could have consolidated everything...
In 2011, they were given full authority by the residents of America—essentially a carte blanche—not because they earned it through merit, but because there was enough political intimidation at the time. The existence of these municipalities is relatively minor compared to the larger issue; there is always a higher institution involved.
As for this three-week delay, 🤦everything can be settled via a quick phone call or an email within an hour or two. How exactly do you expect Washington, D.C. to block that?
The task force isn't interested in politics; they rely on industry experts, unlike the President.

Not at all. Honestly, "headquarters" (ugh, I hate that word, seriously, who even came up with it?) is nothing but pure politics. Aside from two Republican ministers, you've got the director of the public health institute who was appointed back in 2016. Basically, the Republican Party picked him, along with certain people like Alemka Markotić—an infectious disease expert who gets tons of praise from Canadian clergy and once even said she "...wouldn't have survived the war in Ottawa if she weren't a believer." A textbook Republican appointee. Now I just need to check if she's carrying a party registration card.
Jerry Robinson56 said:That should have happened thirty years ago... though perhaps you are overreaching. This moment serves as an excellent opportunity to observe how the United States has been economically dismantled. There isn't actually a lack of funds—the issue lies entirely in the distribution of wealth, excluding food and energy production. It wouldn't even be a struggle for everyone to receive a check and maintain full salaries despite being stuck at home, if only the Government hadn't dictated otherwise.

I totally agree with that sentiment. Though if you ask me, everything has been trashed in every sense of the word, not just economically. This whole "pandemic" thing was just a perfect way to show that we're basically a circus, as Hitler supposedly put it.
It’s the same pattern we see whenever things go sideways, like those floods in the Midwest, a massive blizzard hitting Miami, or an earthquake in Washington, D.C.
dustymarlin10 said:And honestly, none of this actually helps anyone.
My folks agreed over a week ago to split the county into three zones, but those idiots in Washington, D.C. won't let it happen.
Instead of making things easier, they went ahead and added an extra requirement to list the destination on every permit.
Now you've got service techs having to fill out ten different permits a day because they work across ten different counties within a 6.2 miles radius.

So, please, someone tell me who exactly is the crazy one here...

You don't have to deal with that. I just put "Various destinations" in the destination field when I wasn't 100% sure, and then I used the notes section to explain why I chose that option and listed about 7 or 8 spots. I basically just wrote that because of the nature of the job, it's impossible to pin down an exact location for every single date, and that was that.

Gotta be a little creative, right?

Besides, I was driving all over your county the other day and nobody even asked me for anything.
vividranger8 said:Honestly? Probably both. 🙂

The main thing is that America is part of the West. Even if it feels a bit like the Wild West sometimes.😁
Bryan Taylor6 said:They're terrified of being dissolved because they're actually vital.😁

I honestly don't get how you can have a township without an actual city inside it.🤔

I mean, isn't a city supposed to be the foundation that everything else builds around? Like a township...

Santa Barbara isn't a city, yet it's a township.🤔
Wait, how does that even work?

What can you even say about a municipality that covers 25 square miles but only has two little towns and a total population of maybe 1,500 people? It’s pretty wild, isn't it?
So, what are we looking at here? Another one that’s roughly 12 square miles with maybe 400 people living in it?

I’m starting to think this whole pandemic thing and all those mandates coming out of FEMA are actually just divine retribution for how clueless Americans can be. Honestly, we should just start forming more municipalities. We need to take these massive, bloated counties that span 25 square miles and break them down into tiny little micro-districts. That way, every single idiot who votes for a local extremist or an SD partisan gets their own personal municipality. Then, every one of those little mandrills can have the "privilege" of approving some ridiculous permit. Doesn't matter who it's for—they could even let their cat show proof of vaccination just so they can feel like they finally have some real POWER.

Every disaster that hits people can either be a wake-up call to fix the system or just another reason to let things slide even further. Honestly? I highly doubt this recent virus outbreak had any positive impact on Americans. If anything, I get the feeling everyone’s just gotten a little slower on the uptake. You look at that forced slapping trend they've been trying to push everywhere lately, and it really just proves my point.
Jerry Robinson56 said:🙂 And you to me. 😉Look, I agree that household members should be granted an exemption, but they wouldn't just be surrounded by family in those settings. I must reiterate that a carrier doesn't necessarily show symptoms, and from what I can see, detection only happens once symptoms actually manifest. Furthermore, we cannot ignore the fact that older individuals are far more vulnerable to this virus, or that it accelerates their final stages.
As a preventative measure, one shouldn't let an elderly person go anywhere. I haven't even seen my mother in a month and a half... and I only see my brother in passing... you understand? And yet, I am asymptomatic (at least regarding COVID).

Prevention is justifiable regardless of the current outcome. Especially when it comes to a funeral... if I had the choice, I wouldn't even attend my own.🕺

So what's the point of all this then? Take me for example—today at one hospital, they checked my temperature and made me sign some paperwork about legal liability and blah blah blah... because I had to enter the building for work. I don't have symptoms, I haven't been to China, Italy, or anywhere abroad, I don't know anyone suspicious, infected, or sick... yet they say I could be an asymptomatic carrier. So now, I'm allowed in that hospital because I have a work permit, but I'm not allowed to head over to the next county to go fishing because I don't have "permission" for that. I mean, permission to travel. I have a license to fish, though.
It’s absolutely insane. In the last week alone, I've driven around 600435 miles miles through three different counties, getting held up at various institutions along the way. It turns out that while I'm on the clock, I'm not spreading the virus, but the second I step out of my work vehicle, I suddenly become a walking time bomb looking to infect three dying patients in palliative care. Who, by the way, you'll usually find out in the middle of a fishing trip or sitting at a hunting blind.
Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
Bryan Taylor6 said:As soon as the virus hit nursing homes, we lost track of patient zero...

Spot on. Just watch how fast things spiral once it starts tearing through those care facilities. Here in KC today, we already had three people move from a nursing home to the hospital. And the ones who were hit a few days ago? They’re already in D.C., over in Brooklyn. Meanwhile, we’re stuck dealing with all these stay-at-home orders. You know, the kind of "effective" measures that don't actually do much.🤣
Jerry Robinson56 said:How old his mother is provides the definitive answer, though it might be a moot point.

I assume she is over 60. Your opinion is irrelevant; we are dealing with facts. It was my error not to write "(potentially)," but you could have easily inferred that the older population is more vulnerable. Quarantine is preventive, and there is no cure if luck isn't on your side. Tests are clearly very specific. I am no expert on them, so I can only speculate that they are only administered once symptoms begin to manifest.
So, how old is the mother. Medical data likely isn't public, and the doctor is the one who decides and holds access to those records.
I don't consider death and the ceremonies surrounding it to be crucial....

There is no ban if you obtain a permit proving you aren't a (potential) host for the virus.

The authorities, baby... the authorities. If you are young enough, everything is laid out clearly; you just need to actually read.

HOW DOES THE VIRUS WORK?

THE CORONAVIRUS MYSTERY: IT TARGETS THE ELDERLY AND SPARES CHILDREN

What does her age have to do with anything? She hasn't been infected, and she hasn't been ordered into isolation. She’d just be with her family at the funeral. You know, the people you normally sit at the table with or watch TV with on the couch.
You're trying to justify a policy that simply can't be justified. Besides, despite all these "smart" measures, the number of cases and deaths keeps climbing.
You seem like a cool guy, but man, you are totally missing the mark on this thread.

🙂 That is quite kind of you.

Let’s be honest: calling these urban neighborhoods "districts" is nothing more than a classic facade. It is a superficial label designed to provide a sense of structure where none truly exists.

County Civil Court
Municipal Court on El Paso Street 84.

The Municipal Court in Washington, D.C. shouldn't be labeled as a civil court, given that it also handles criminal cases. 😁
Criminal Court 3

Just a brief thought regarding the matter of names...

I am merely providing clarification. Having spent years immersed in certain lines of work, I have come to realize that you truly cannot grasp the sheer level of absurdity one encounters until you are standing right in the middle of it. It is a peculiar thing, really. One assumes they have seen it all, only to be confronted by realities that defy any reasonable expectation.
There is no prohibition against travel if you possess a valid permit proving that you aren't an obvious host for the virus.
We are maintaining a written record of all movements to ensure that if a new outbreak occurs, we can immediately identify the likely source or culprit. Efficiency in response is paramount.

They simply did what was within their power. While their approach falls far short of being perfect, it is precisely what one would propose to curb viral distribution if the pathogen is truly as potent as claimed. That is the fundamental logic here. If there is a legitimate threat to public safety, maintaining records of human movement becomes a necessity. Now, I am staunchly opposed to the idea of monitoring mobile phones, but there is a catch. In this day and age, everything is already being tracked; a precise location can be distilled down to a mere twenty characters. You understand what I mean. The only real hurdle is obtaining a court order. It seems someone finally realized that this could serve as an alternative to mandatory digital passes.

Let me weigh in on that bolded and underlined part. All of that sounds great on paper if you can actually get a pass. The real headache starts when the authorities refuse to issue one. Take my neighbor back in his small town, for example. His neighbor's grandmother passed away, and she lived in a different jurisdiction. My neighbor barely managed to pull together permissions to attend the funeral for himself, his wife (the deceased's granddaughter), and his wife's niece (also a granddaughter). But he couldn't get permission for his own mother. To me, that means his mom is FORBIDDEN from going to a friend's funeral. Who is the idiot in this country who thinks they have the right to stop a perfectly HEALTHY person from attending a friend's funeral? There were only five people at the service; with my neighbor's mom, there would have been six. And all of them live at the same address! This measure is as foolish as it gets and it's a total violation of basic civil liberties. And since when does some little pass PROVE that you aren't carrying a virus? I guess we're supposed to trust those (unreliable) tests?
vividranger8 said:Wait, since when?! As far as I know, the whole deal was just about staying put at home... or maybe I totally missed something? I guess I might be out of the loop here!

Look, if your official residence is in a small town in Ohio, you’d actually need a permit just to head over to Columbus since that’s a completely different municipality. If you don't meet the requirements for one of those passes, it basically means you aren't allowed to leave the specific municipality where you're registered to live.

Imagine if he hadn't been on a bike 😁 then he would have truly been in trouble...
All joking aside, there simply aren't enough personnel to manage enforcement, and while there is a limitation on movement, a "ban" is an entirely different legal concept. However, observe how the uneducated individuals in power manipulate their terminology—using phrases like "relaxation of measures"😁, "bilateral meeting between the two of them"... or "social distancing"🤦

Restriction vs. Ban... it’s basically the same mess. If you don't have permission, aka a pass, then you're effectively banned from traveling between different counties. It's not the restriction itself that's the problem; it's the way they actually carry it out. Like the example I mentioned earlier, law enforcement seems to be making up their own rules on the fly about who follows the rules and who doesn't. Honestly, treating the fight against this "21st-century plague" with such inconsistency is pretty unprofessional.
Sure, the actual distance someone can travel might depend on whether local mayors are playing nice with each other or not, but it's also obvious that the idiots in charge keep passing rules that make zero sense and are practically impossible to follow.
Besides, I honestly stopped caring about whether these measures were justified the second they allowed that massive parade over on Maui. And from what I heard, that whole procession wasn't even cleared by the local town council, but by some national task force.
Tyler Vaughn7 said:How is it "not an issue" when I personally can't even bike or walk to the next town over without a permit? That’s not a commentary on anyone else's business, it's just my own reality...🕺

So, I was planning on heading out on my bike the other day, riding from the city out to this little nearby town—it's about a certain distance from the edge of town once you pass the last sign... Just about a mile. So, I’m heading toward the outskirts of town when I run into this guy on a bike—someone I recognize from around, but we don't really talk. He was absolutely flying toward the city center. I ducked in to take care of some quick business, which only took me about ten minutes, and then I started heading back the same way. As it turns out, about five hundred yards into the city, I ran into a buddy of mine who was also on his bike, just heading home since he lives right by the edge of town. He tells me he actually just crossed paths with that first guy. Apparently, the guy told him that the police pulled him over right at the city limits! They were asking for his ID and giving him a hard time because he wasn't wearing a mask. So yeah, it looks like that was actually happening. Just about a mile. I wasn't even looking, but from what I saw, I didn't spot any patrols when I was heading out of town. It honestly felt like those cops showed up, messed with someone for five minutes, and then probably just rolled off to some other spot to bother someone else. Is that just how it goes?

Over the holidays, my little town was absolutely crawling with cars coming in from Washington, D.C., Savannah, Portland, Denver, even people driving in from Germany and Austria. You can bet they all had their passes ready to go, right?

And then there’s someone else actually trying to defend these ridiculous movement restrictions. Don't even get me started on those processions and all that other nonsense.
