Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Ugh, here’s another one about those horrible pains... I started getting my period at 11, and honestly, nothing happened until I was 14. Then, out of nowhere, the intense pain just hit me. It starts with nausea, sweating, feeling totally weak, and then I turn pale as a ghost and start shaking uncontrollably until I finally throw up. Everything is still the same today, except now it lasts for 2 or 3 days instead of just the first hour after it starts. Ketorol is the only thing that actually works for me; even half a pill keeps me chill for 5 or 6 hours. Any other meds I have to take every 2 hours, and they barely do anything besides dulling the edge. The problem is, you can't even buy Ketorol around here (so far I've just had to bring it from home or have people send it to me), so now I'm stuck using Voltaren. I bought one of those heating pads just so I can survive those 3 or 4 days, but even then, I'm basically crippled and stuck in bed. If I don't take a pill or plug in the heating pad within an hour, nothing helps. I've lost count of how many times I've stumbled out of the bathroom on all fours—or sometimes I can't even make it out and just end up lying on the floor while my husband has to break down the door to carry me back to bed... I'm seriously at my wit's end trying to figure out what to take (and trust me, I've tried everything: pills, drops, herbal stuff, etc.). Once I start working, it's going to be even worse, so how am I supposed to deal with being out of commission for 3 days every single month!? Everyone around me just laughs when I say I'm throwing a massive party once I hit menopause just to celebrate this nightmare finally leaving me. 🙂
