The "Ageless Wonder" phenomenon in professional sports in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Is it just me, or is the concept of a "peak age" becoming completely obsolete?

I was watching some old highlights from the early 2000s the other day, and it hit me how much the physical standards for athletes have shifted. It used to be that once a player hit their mid-thirties, you basically started preparing for their retirement party. Now, we have these outliers who seem to have cracked some kind of secret code to stay elite well into their late thirties and even early forties.

Part of me finds it incredible—the discipline required to maintain that level of performance is insane. But another part of me wonders if we’re actually seeing a shift in how athletes manage their bodies, or if we're just seeing a generational anomaly where a few superstars are just built differently. It almost feels like the "shelf life" of a career is being rewritten in real-time.

Do you think we're entering an era where the old rules of aging in pro sports don't apply anymore, or is this just a rare exception to the rule?

Have you ever tried taking Advil? It’s my one true savior; I pop two and I’m perfectly calm all day long.

driftingbear29 said:How much do they cost? 🙂 I think I should start taking these tablets about 8 or 9 days before my period starts. It varies for me depending on the month, but this time the pain is just unbearable 🙂 And for the first time, my breasts are actually painful to the touch.

I can't even sleep on my stomach 🙂 🙂

I feel you. For me, it’s almost every single month, about a week before my period. The only way I can actually get some sleep is by lying on my stomach. 🙂 🙂

Best advice? Just head to the nearest subway station, doesn't even matter which direction you're facing, and hop on the first train that rolls up. Once you hit the Museum of Modern Art or reach Broadway, get off. If you jump out at the museum, you'll be right by the mall; if you hit Broadway, you'll see Madison Square Garden just a few minutes' walk away 😁
