Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Listen, I can tell you from experience: yoga actually works!
To be honest, when I first started yoga—and that wasn't even my primary reason for picking it up—I was pretty skeptical when people claimed it would help reduce menstrual cramps. But it really does.
There were months where I’d end up in the ER, passing out and dealing with the kind of intense crises many of you here know all too well. Now, I'm nowhere near that.
The pain hasn't vanished entirely, but it's twice as manageable. Every once in a while, I'll have a few hours where the discomfort is enough that I need to lie down and use a heating pad, but after that, I feel like a new person. Given how difficult my cycles used to be, this is massive progress.

I began noticing these changes after about six months of consistent practice. I've been at it for nearly two years now, and things just keep getting better.
My instructor says her own cramps stopped completely, and she dealt with the exact same issues I did.
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
Hello,
Does anyone here have experience dealing with extremely short periods (only 1-2 days)?
I started my cycle at age 12, and now that I'm turning 25, I've noticed they get shorter as I get older. It used to last 7 days, then dropped to 4-5 days for a few years, then 3, and for the last two years, it's been just 1-2 days. I went in for an exam, and my OB-GYN said everything looks fine. When I asked why they were so short, he just told me it doesn't matter as long as I'm getting one every month, even if it's only for a single day. o.o
I still find this suspicious, especially since the duration keeps decreasing. I have a feeling they might disappear altogether soon. :/
Anyone have any insight?
Thanks.

Is it really that hard to actually read the original post?

This is the urine analysis
and the blood work is just this: Antistreptol titer 131>

From what I've gathered online, it seems like there might be an infection somewhere, so I've been trying to connect the dots regarding a possible bladder infection or maybe something going on with my kidneys. I'm still waiting on my throat and nasal swab results before I take everything to my doctor for a referral. I'm hoping it's nothing serious. 🙄🤷

P.S. Sorry, I always seem to forget to check the first post!

Age: 22
I don't have any significant medical history. I'm doing the urine tests because of a suspected bladder infection, and the blood work is related to my stomach (tested negative for bacteria, and then there's this other one I can't quite place, though it just says Antistreptol titer 131). I'm also waiting on the throat and nasal swabs for those same concerns.

So, the results aren't directly linked, but I'm trying to see if there's a connection between the blood and urine findings, which is why I'm seeking a second opinion...
Can someone explain what this part of my urine test means: protein-trace
I went in to get tested because of a bladder infection, and everything came back normal except for this... I don't understand what it's implying. Anyone?
Sex is fine, but my OBGYN says no?! in Women's Health ·

Ugh, I was 16 and honestly thought, "Oh my god, people are going to think I'm pregnant and came in for an abortion." 🙄 That is just terrible!!!

Exactly. And what’s worse is that even if you were 16 and pregnant, that doesn't give anyone the right to humiliate you like that. How are young women supposed to feel comfortable seeing a doctor if they're treated this way?
I realize that even now I look younger than my actual age, which might be why I've dealt with this stuff, but I'll say it again: that is no excuse!

I have had terrible experiences whenever I've visited my gynecologist. The first time I went was at 16 due to severe pain, and everything was fine until two years later when I returned. I told the doctor I wanted an exam because I had become sexually active and wanted to ensure everything was okay. At that moment, the doctor actually laughed at me in front of the nurses, who just looked at one another and whispered, "That's awful." I felt horrible and decided to switch doctors immediately. When I turned 20, I went to see a gynecologist again, and his assistant shouted out in the hallway where everyone was waiting, "What do you need? Are you pregnant? How old are you?" I haven't been back to a gynecologist in a year; every time I think about it, I am horrified by how primitive some of these medical environments still are.
