Aha, gotcha. Fair enough.
Plus, they told me I don't even need to bother with any more follow-up tests.
I'm just wondering, though—is it actually an issue if my blood sugar spikes more often during the day? Like, if I'm eating five times a day instead of three, is that gonna totally mess up my insulin response?

Your labs look totally fine to me.
The doctor.
I mean, she wouldn't just send me in for some random diabetes screening for no reason.
It’s probably one of those things where they draw blood, then I have to sit there for like two or three hours, and then they hit me with the glucose shot to see how my body reacts.
Something like that. 🤷
So here’s the deal:
I’m 20 years old.
I went in for some blood work because I was worried about maybe having diabetes.
Before the draw, I actually ate a massive breakfast since I had no clue you were supposed to fast first.
After they took my blood, my sugar level came back at 108 mg/dL.
Two days later, I swung back by for more detailed testing, this time on an empty stomach. But when I mentioned to the nurse that I'd eaten before the first test, she told me I didn't even need the full panel anymore, so we just stuck to the basic blood draw.
That time, the reading was 90 mg/dL.
I hit the gym pretty hard and load up on carbs whenever I can because the goal is strictly muscle mass.
Mostly I’m talking potatoes, brown rice, but I eat a ton of bread too.
It’s not like cheap white bread—it's usually decent rye or whole grain stuff.
I’m wondering if it’s actually smart to be slamming so many carbs given that my sugar levels have been a bit high.
I stay away from anything sugary, except for fruit.
My numbers definitely spike right up to that borderline range after I eat, which is what’s got me tripping out.
I haven't really gained any weight or anything.
Honestly, I think the stress might be the culprit, because a few months ago I was dealing with some brutal insomnia while trying to grind through finals at college.
If anyone who actually knows their stuff could weigh in, I’d appreciate it.
thanks!
Look, proteins aren't for gaining fat, they're for building muscle.
The only way you're gonna pack on fat from them is if you're just chugging shakes all day without hitting the gym, but honestly, that's just flushing money down the toilet since you can get those same calories from carbs.
Bottom line is, if you're actually working out, then yeah, they're useful.
I used to struggle with putting on weight myself—actually, I still deal with it—but I finally figured out how to beat the system.
And don't sweat that sweating thing either; it happens to me all the time too.
My advice? You gotta eat big, like 4-5 times a day.
Even if you can't stomach a huge meal, just force it. You'll get used to it eventually.
Load up on rice, potatoes, bread, and all those other carbs.
There’s no magic trick here, you just need to eat a ton.
You probably think you're eating like a maniac, but clearly, you're not.
Since you're sitting at 110 lbs, you don't even need an insane amount of food to start seeing the scale move.
