casualtiger19 said:Hey everyone. My dad hasn't been feeling great lately. He’s dropped like 22 pounds out of nowhere. He’s getting these dizzy spells where his vision just goes dark, and he’s constantly chugging water because he feels like his mouth is bone-dry—he even said his saliva feels thick, almost like curdled cheese.

He hasn't seen a doctor yet because he's a workaholic and claims he "doesn't have the time." Plus, he’s been under an insane amount of stress recently.

Can anyone tell me what might be going on with him?

Get him to a doctor RIGHT NOW!!! Look, I'm obviously not a medical professional, but those are textbook diabetes symptoms.

I actually ended up in the ER with those exact same symptoms a while back, right on the edge of ketoacidosis. I literally walked to the hospital myself because I had no clue how serious the situation was until they "kindly" informed me that if I didn't get help, I'd likely be meeting my Maker in about two or three days.

So yeah, right away/emergency/now get him to a doctor.

P.S. Diabetes isn't a death sentence or a huge deal once you actually get it under control.

There's a ton of info over there—especially regarding diet (check out those food charts to help you figure out portions, types of food, and how to mix things up). You’re probably sharper than I am, so you’ll catch on quickly that on the "nutrition" page, you have to click the picture of something like a salad to actually get to the data tables. It took me like two months to realize that 🤣

Your doctor probably mentioned whether you're Type 1 or Type 2. Here's the gist: with Type 1, your pancreas basically goes on strike and refuses to make insulin, whereas with Type 2, you basically have to sweet-talk it into doing its job 😁

I don't know how you're holding up, but honestly, when I first found out, I was in total shock. Those sites that the folks above linked are super helpful, though they can be pretty brutal because they really hammer home the complications and the risk of death 🙄

From what I've gathered, those scary complications people used to assume were inevitable? Nowadays, it's actually pretty easy to slow them down or even stop them entirely. It all comes down to how much work you're willing to put in. If you stay disciplined with your diet, keep moving with regular exercise, and keep a close eye on your blood sugar, you can dodge most of the issues with Type 2. It’s similar for Type 1, except you gotta deal with the little shots before you eat. And look, you *could* always decide you don't actually need your left foot, or that having two kidneys is overrated 😬 Basically, your future with diabetes is entirely in your own hands.

Having a good doctor—an endocrinologist specifically—is huge, especially at the start while you're still trying to find your groove. It wouldn't hurt to join a diabetes support group, too; apparently, they're full of good vibes, advice, and reading material. I haven't joined one yet because I seriously hate joining organizations, but I'm planning to

I've been living with Type 1 for less than a year now. I've gone through all the stages: from complete freaking out, to that "honeymoon phase" where I convinced myself I was miraculously cured 🤣 to doing four finger pricks a day. Now, I feel (and honestly, I look 😉 ) better than ever.

Bottom line: diabetes isn't the end of the world 😁

Thanks so much for the help, everyone; I managed to dig up some info online, but apparently, nobody's buying them right now, so my only move is maybe putting it up for auction, though I’m honestly sitting here scratching my head wondering what the smartest play actually is. Any thoughts? 🤷

we don't have any 🤷

Daniel Morris13 said:Hey everyone, I was wondering if you could help me out with a quick appraisal on this sculpture—it’s bronze and weighs about 11 pounds including the base. Any insight at all would be massively appreciated, thanks in advance! Also, if anyone has tips on where I might actually be able to sell something like this, please let me know. 😍

Look, value is almost entirely dependent on who made it and how big it is. Since we're talking bronze here, there really ought to be a signature or some info etched into the base. I'm definitely no expert—don't call me a connoisseur unless you want a lecture—but the style honestly reminds me a bit of Kosta Radovan. As for how many casts were made? Usually, if there are only three, you're looking at a real original.

Amy Lee18 said:I saw some people posting videos from Mance's show at the Swamp the other night. 👍 Is anyone actually planning on ripping this show and distributing the footage? I’m talking about selling it, too—making some real cash off the side. Honestly, I’d probably buy it myself. I managed to snag a ticket, but by the time I finally fought my way through the crowd, I missed half the damn thing! 😠

I don't know, man, I’m starting to get a real bad feeling about this... like, is this even legal?! 😎

Man, I am totally with you on that! Honestly, sign me up too! 😬
