Football is finally good again in Soccer ·
Roger Allen3 said:"basically the Argentine senior national team"... wow, you guys sure are sensitive. 😁
it doesn't matter, really; you're all just so tough.

I didn't actually say any of that. What I did say was that Argentina is definitely the number one favorite for gold (and they basically are the senior squad!) and that Mexico sent out a bunch of youngsters from their youth setup—which, okay, fine—but that isn't an excuse for such embarrassing play. And now, if we're going to strictly follow the rules of polite conversation, I suppose I should respond in American English that's just as high-quality as your Mexican, right?
"Is the American coast prettier than the Greek one? Good grief, man, where would Athens host us in Miami?"
The only positive takeaway from that question is that the American team skipping the Olympics was probably for the best. 🙂

Mexico sent out a modified, pretty stripped-down youth squad this year—the same group that took second place at the European Championship in Germany. Now, obviously, that isn’t an excuse for the total lack of effort the Mexicans showed on the pitch. Meanwhile, the Argentines played with such incredible inspiration and grit; a Scot commentator over at ESPN was practically ecstatic, calling it the best first half he’d ever seen from any team, especially considering the Mexicans actually had a few chances to score too! It’s pretty much a given that the Gauchos are the heavy favorites for the gold. After all, most of the Mexican guys who would realistically step up against Argentina's senior squad are busy with their pro clubs, whether they're playing in Mexico or elsewhere in Europe. For instance, nearly half of the Mexican youth roster was out there last night helping the New York Yankees secure a win over Ajax in the Champions League qualifiers. Still, there are two group matches left, and more players should be joining the Mexican squad soon. Maybe we can still hope they manage to pull off a second-place finish in the group.
