Hey there,
Sorry for digging up this old thread, but I’ve got a few questions and since all the other posts about blood donation seem to have vanished, this is all I've got left.
So, here's the deal: I'm planning on donating blood for the first time, but I got a tattoo back at the start of August. I know I can't go right now, but when am I actually cleared to do it?
Also, can someone break down the "why" for me? Like, why exactly am I sidelined? I get the whole infection risk thing, but is it possible to be carrying something without even knowing it for a year? Or is there some other reason behind the rule... And just out of curiosity, if I were to try and donate before that six-month or one-year window is up, would they be able to tell I have a tattoo just by looking at my blood?
