Uncontrolled sugar consumption? Are we actually serious right now?
Just stop buying the sweets in the first place—then you won't be eating them. Simple enough, isn't it?
The only exception would be if you're prone to hypoglycemia—which you didn't mention, by the way—and even then, that could be prevented by regularly consuming smaller amounts of starch. It’s something that, if it's actually an issue, should probably be investigated further.
Making a statement like, "I eat sugar uncontrollably," doesn't really offer much of a justification. At most, it just tells us that you lack control over what you put into your own body... which, let's be honest, is a bit ridiculous.
Generally speaking, when we eat sugar, there's a massive insulin spike, which leaves us feeling drowsy—and then the body starts craving even more carbs or sugar just to wake up and get some energy back. My own lab results show my insulin levels are nearly three times higher than they should be; in plain English, my body is constantly hunting for sugar. So, please, don't try to tell me I'm being ridiculous.
If there happens to be an endocrinologist lurking in this corner of the internet, I would truly appreciate a second opinion—or even just a bit of guidance.
I recently underwent a 5-hour OGTT, including insulin and glucose levels—I ended up seeing an endocrinologist because of these constant, uncontrollable cravings for anything sweet.

The diagnosis came back as hyperinsulinemia paired with glucose spikes.
They put me on Siofor 500, just one pill in the evening.
I’ve been taking it for three weeks now.
My diet was actually quite disciplined before all this—I avoid white flour and eat about four or five small meals a day. But the sugar... that's the issue. It's still a massive struggle, even with the medication. These intense cravings hit me out of nowhere, and once they start, I simply cannot stop, even after just a tiny amount.
I've also seen a sudden weight gain of about 15 pounds.
I understand that Siofor helps regulate my blood sugar, but what about the insulin itself? Isn't the insulin what's driving these uncontrollable urges? If I'm essentially acting like a pre-diabetic by consuming so much sugar, aren't I just working against the very pills I'm taking?
I went back to my primary care physician two days ago to mention that I don't feel the medication is working—or perhaps the dose is too low—but he just told me to wait another month. He said if nothing changes by then, he’ll send me back to the specialist. Honestly, I am exhausted from the waiting. I've been fighting this for eight months; for six of those months, my doctor insisted it was "all in my head," and it wasn't until two months ago that he finally sent me for these tests.
I am a 25-year-old female, 5'5", 137 lbs (I've been on Yasmin since I was 16 to manage PCOS).
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
I know this probably isn't the right corner of the internet for this kind of thing—and I really didn't want to clutter up the forums by starting a whole new thread for no reason—but I figured someone here might actually have an answer.
So, I’ve got this collection at home—about 500 little pins and badges, ranging from old historical emblems and Olympic Games memorabilia to portraits of various authors... honestly, there are quite a few where I don't even recognize what they're supposed to represent. Does anyone know where I could go to sell them, or perhaps somewhere I could take them for a proper appraisal? Or am I just chasing ghosts here... do they even hold any real value?
